Summary
It's New Year's Eve and people are out on the streets, drinking and setting off firecrackers. Two celebrating, respectable men find that a homeless man has been sleeping in their shed. In a drunken rage they beat him to death. The next morning, coping with his own hangover, Moser is called to investigate the apparent suicide of a woman in the same building. All the residents are helpful, pleasant and have alibis. After all, this is a nice neighbourhood.

The good
Some social issues creeping into this episode. It’s a nice reminder that just because you don’t have a job or house, it doesn’t mean you can’t be a decent person. The scene at Moser’s apartment after a New Years Party is hilarious - see it!

The bad
This episode had a higher rating for violence than the other episodes of the first season. Also downright freaky was the way everyone kept saying ‘This is a nice neighbourhood’.

Disclaimer : Kommissar Rex is owned by Mungo film, Tauris film, SAT.1 and ORF and was created by Peter Hajek and Peter Moser. None of the characters, actors or photographs belong to me, unfortunately. I'm just borrowing them, having a bit of fun and then returning them more or less unharmed.
