The Robinsons
"Summer Fun E.P."

"Summer Fun", the latest installment from this Chalmette based, but always in Baton Rouge, suburban punk band, features four songs of drop top at the sock hop, share a soda with your girl surf tunes. Track 1, promptly titled "Fun Times", does not waste a second with any kind of useless intro and immediately goes into the jam: a swift tempo, progressive diddy, performed as an anthem to a full day of no obligations or worries. Other tracks include "No School Tomorrow" and "Bogalusa", an ode to the great stank of a papermill.

The new e.p. is a big step up in production quality when compared to their July 2001 release "Cool Down! Got It?". Thanks to producer Wyatt Funderburk (The Pendletones), who has become a good friend and a big fan of The Robinsons. He had talked with them about recording on numerous occasions, and urged it to become a real deal when he found out that his services were to be needed in Nashville soon, and he would be moving there. The band is quite pleased with the disc and credits Wyatt with the improvement/revision of Track 2, the laid back in the sack, mended break-up from the 50s love song, ironically titled "Rev It Up".

The only thing that could be said against the new "Summer Fun E.P." is that it's a four song E.P. and not a 10-track chunk of lovin' like "Cool Down! Got It?".
