News From October 2000!!!

She says of the boys, "Entertainment will be *N SYNC because, as a songwriter I was supposed to do a song with them, so they're my friends."

10/27/00-John Travolta is throwing water on Lance's plan to have *NSYNC star in Grease 3. Aparently Paramount Studios and John Travolta won't allow them to do the movie because they own the rights to the name and franchise! Travolta insists, "It should be left as it is. Like 'An American In Paris' and 'Cabaret,' 'Grease' should be left alone." Aparently John Travolta really doesn't like 'N SYNC.

10/25/00-The New York Post reports that *NSYNC were seen after leaving from Nello's after eating lunch with some roadies and some "very attractive young women". The group drove off in a huge SUV with tinted windows.

I don't think people should put limitations on themselves -- if you think you can do something, you can. I believe that we could fly if we wanted to, but we just can't conceive it. I mean we can physically fly if we use our minds enough. The mind is definitely stronger than anything in the world." No word on if these comments were taken after he viewed a Micheal Jordan highlight reel!

They want something real again and that's where we come in. The tide is turning." Bono's evidence centers around Beautiful Day's #1 position on the UK charts, "The state of music in Britain and Ireland hasn't been very healthy recently but you can tell it's changing by the chart positions of pop acts - they are slipping."

10/24/00-Many fans are angrily reporting that *NSYNC was booed by several fans for their national anthem performance before game 3 of the World Series won by the Mets. 10/20/00-Eminem took a shot at *NSYNC for the opening of the Anger Management Tour by covering their "Tearing Up My Heart" song with a new version "Tearing Up My Ass". The vulgar parody featured the members of D-12 'exaggerating' *NSYNC's dance steps sexually.

10/18/00-Joey Fatone's Dad's group "Not So Boy Band" will open up for *NSYNC on November 1st in Orlando, FL only. Bahamian pop group Baha Men - whose hit "Who Let the Dogs Out" continues to flood the nation's airwaves will also be opening up for *NSYNC on the 2nd leg of their "No Strings Attached World Tour". Dream (Puff Daddy's latest project) will be opening up for *NSYNC on the upcoming "No Strings Attached World Tour". B4-4 will also be opening up for the guys in Toronto only. Sugar Hill Gang will be making appearances also at some of the shows.

10/18/00-Justin is taking a shot at O-Town, saying, "What do we think of it? It's a piece of crap. It's scary to think that that O-Town show, is serious. I'm not dissing the boys on the show. God bless them. I'm almost positive that they don't have a clue what's going on, really. I kind of look back and see what we were like: We didn't know what was going on. I don't want to talk bad about anybody but I can't have faith in something that's done by a business partner that we've already had and who was not a very good business partner."

10/18/00-'N Sync Murder Plot Thwarted By Concerned Mother - A concerned Tennessee mother has thwarted her own son's bizarre plans to murder the members of 'N Sync. Sumner County officials were called into action when the mother of the 17-year-old in question discovered a folder containing his outlined plans and drawings to ambush the boy band. In his plan, the unidentified youth was to rob a local gun shop, killing its employees if necessary, after which he would travel to Atlanta on the evening of October 21, the same night 'N Sync is set to take the stage at Philips Arena. His plan of action from that point on: kill the band and anyone who gets in his way.
Sheriff Captain Don Linzy suspects the boy was acting alone, and he tells the Gallatin News Examiner, "Everything in the writings indicates he was the only one. It was always 'I' this and 'I' that, there was never any 'we.'" Linzy is quick to give credit to the boy's mother for her actions, noting that if parents took more of an active part in their children's doings, tragedies like the one at Columbine High School more than a year ago can be avoided: "I know it's never an easy thing to do, but she did the right thing in alerting authorities. She found something disturbing and took action." As for why 'N Sync was at the center of this boy's hatred, Linzy references the boy's writings, which essentially said, "The group gets all the good girls." The 17-year-old is now undergoing a series of psychological evaluations to determine his mental well-being. Writer Roger Smith of the News Examiner tells LAUNCH, "This boy has had previous psychological problems," and adds, "The mother reported her son as soon as she found the folder."

As their fame continues to grow, security has become a must for the members of 'N Sync. Although a majority of their fans respect the band member's private lives, there are always some who try to get too close. Joey Fatone recently told LAUNCH. "I think sometimes certain people may take it a little bit too far, and try to get more into your personal life. Screaming, enjoying the music and, you know, wanting an autograph or a picture -- that's cool -- but starting to go into your private life or trying to lie about different things that may or may not have happened, you know what I'm saying? Its just things that have been stretched to far out -- that's not a healthy thing. That's the scary thing about it."

10/18/00-Their have been reports of the following opening acts on the second leg of the "No Strings Attached" tour Joey Fatone's Dad's group "Not So Boy Band" will open up for *NSYNC on November 1st in Orlando, FL only. Bahamian pop group Baha Men - whose hit "Who Let the Dogs Out" continues to flood the nation's airwaves - will also be opening up for *NSYNC on the 2nd leg of their "No Strings Attached World Tour". Dream (Puff Daddy's latest project) will be opening up for *NSYNC on the upcoming "No Strings Attached World Tour". B4-4 will also be opening up for the guys in Toronto only. Also i5 signed on for a couple of dates.

10/18/00-Their has been controversy on whether or not the 'N sync lip balm whis accually going to come out. J.C. was quoted in saying in an interview for MTV "that the band had pulled the plug for a line of 'N SYNC-endorsed lip balm, say that "it wasn't us who okayed it." Although you can find it in the following stores: Tower Records, Limited Two, Claires, and Spencers stores. Just to remind you Joey-Green Apple, Justin-Vanilla, Lance-Blue Raspberry, JC- Watermelon, and Chris-Strawberry. They are 99 cents a peice.

10/18/00-FuManSkeeto will be at a Nordstrom near you this November! Thanks to all the fans that requested it.

10/18/00-"Chris is having some very serious problems with his neck. He's in a lot of pain, and I believe surgery was an option, however I don't think it's one he's currently considering. He's been having trouble for a while now, and he recently wrecked his jet ski and added additional injury. Hopefully, this will be under control by the first of next year. Thanks for being concerned. -Bev" (Chris' mom)

10/16/00-When the tour wraps up in December, 'NSync is going to take a break, during which the quintet will embark on "solo ventures," although not necessarily musical.
"I think when we say 'solo ventures,' they're all different types of things, like business ventures, Timberlake said. "Joey's filming something right now--I'm sorry, I don't know what it's called."
Lance Bass is also getting involved in film, while Kirkpatrick will bring his Fu.ManSkeeto clothing line into Nordstrom stores the day after Thanksgiving. Timberlake said he wasn't sure what he was going to do. "I'll probably just be writing some music, and I don't know, maybe I'll get into some on-screen stuff. Who knows? I'm crazy like that. I'll switch it on you." It won't be that long of a vacation, however. 'NSync is planning to return to the studio in early 2001 to record the follow-up to its nine-times-platinum album "No Strings Attached."
"We haven't had a lot of time but we're doing a little bit of writing," Timberlake said. "... I think one of our main goals is that we all get at least 10 tracks submitted and just pick the best 12 or so from that big pile. We'll have the best pool of where the sound's going or where we feel the sound's going. Once we've all submitted our tracks, maybe everybody else will come in and help produce them up and get the whole 'NSync sound on them. It's hard to say where the music's gonna go. I think we found our sound this year, so hopefully we can grow with our audience." Lance says,"There's been several people we've been talking about [to produce the album]. Maybe getting with She'kespere again, Timbaland, Missy Elliot. Even Richard Marx would be great to work with again."

10/16/00-'NSync talks business during press conference. After making playful jabs at his bandmates during a 45-minute teleconference with a handful of reporters on Monday (10/9), 'NSync founding member Chris Kirkpatrick turned somber when he said that working with former manager Lou Pearlman was "a life lesson we learned quick."
"The only thing that kind of shreds us about it is when we hear things like, 'Yeah, he used to tell you guys how to sing.' He gave us money and that was it. We kind of did our own thing," said Kirkpatrick, who was joined on the call by bandmate Justin Timberlake. "When he did control the money, he would say things. And we were like, 'This is our group. This is what we do. You're paying us to be 'NSync. You're not paying us to be your people and your puppets. We are a group. We were a group before your money and we'll be a group after your money.'"
'NSync left RCA Records and Pearlman for Jive Records last year, prompting a $150 million lawsuit by Pearlman, his management team Trans Continental Media, Trans Continental Records and BMG Entertainment, which owns RCA. A judge in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida ruled in November against Pearlman and allowed the band to record for Jive. Shortly after the judge's ruling, the group reached a confidential out-of-court settlement with Pearlman and BMG.
"It's really sad that it went down like that," Kirkpatrick said. "Because at first he tried to make it like a family: 'I want to be close to you guys. I want you guys to be able to trust me.' But in a business when it comes to money, you can't trust anybody, because the people you start trusting, you never guess that they're the ones that are actually taking all your money. That was really hard for us."

10/16/00-Weekly sound scan charts for the nation's recorded music as they appear in the Oct. 21, 2000, issue of Billboard magazine. 15)"This I Promise You," 'N Sync.

10/16/00-'N Sync will join the list of The Simpsons musical alums that includes Britney Spears, Aerosmith, U2, the Ramones, Sonic Youth and the Red Hot Chili Peppers among others. According to their rep, the boy band recorded their voices last month for the segment titled, "New Kids On The Blecch," which will feature Bart Simpson, Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum and Milhouse Van Houten in their own boy band, dubbed Party Posse. According to the story line, 'N Sync just happen to be in Springfield for the Posse's first show and decide to drop in on them and give them some advice on onstage etiquette.

10/15/00-Soapoperafan.com reports the rumor that Chris Kirkpatrick, Lance Bass, and Justin Timberlake will make a guest appearance on the show Passions.

Kelly—"World Christmas" 12)Pink—"Give Love on Christmas Day" 13)Dave Matthews Band—"Christmas Song" 13)Donell Jones—"My Gift to You" 15)Dido—"Christmas Day" 16)Steps "Merry Christmas Everybody"

10/11/00-JC Chasez is playing down a rivalry between his *NSYNC bandmates and the Backstreet Boys, telling Launch.com, "I think everybody puts us in direct competition with them. We really don't care either way. We just do our thing day to day and we're thankful that we've achieved what we have. We don't want to take anything away from them--I mean, hey, they're just trying to do their thing, so we have nothing against them. We know what it's like to try and make a living at this."

10/10/00-*NSYNC has finally announced their movie plans... Grease 3! A third installment to the popular hit musical. The film will be on hold though because of the labor situation in Hollywood. Lance Bass said in a teleconference, "We're going ahead and getting the script written. It's a go from the studios and we just got to wait until the strike is over, then we can start filming." Taping will probably start in the spring. Entertainment Weekly reported that megadreamy boy band will be shedding their squeaky-clean jock locks in favor of the slicked-back greased-out dos and black leather jackets sported by the T-Birds. A big rumor floating around is the possibility that teen queen Britney Spears will play a Pink Lady in the project. The casting makes sense, seeing as how it would give her some serious duet time opposite current beau and 'N Sync member Justin Timberlake and allow them to make some sparks on screen. Just last April, Bass told Allstar what fans can expect with the Spears factor. Neither stars' camps had any comment about Spears participation nor when exactly the film will start shooting. But fans can rest assured, their love affair with their favorite teen pin-ups will be headed to the big screen. It's just a question of when.

10/10/00-"N Sync announced that their third album will be finished in February 2001 and will be released shortly after. The guys are thinking late March, early April. Lance said they are even more involved. JC and Justin have both been doing a lot of writing. Justin says they will all pick out 10 to 12 recorded songs and then will throw them in a hat and pick out of that. No song titles released." "There's been several people we've been talking about [to produce the album]. Maybe getting with She'kespere again, Timbaland, Missy Elliot. Even Richard Marx would be great to work with again." Lance reported.

10/10/00-We're hearing that *NSYNC will be having an IMAX concert feature soon, though no official date has been announced.

10/9/00-"We're actually starting the tour on a holiday this year. Oct. 17 is Chris Kirkpatrick Day," Kirkpatrick said. "We're real excited about that. ... And you've only got eight shopping days or so left." "Chris' birthday is Oct. 17." said Timberlake. "Please get him something. Because I'm not."

10/9/00-'N SYNC aka The Melons. No, that didn't just look like the members of 'N Sync outside of Sinbad's Pier II Restaurant near San Francisco's Embarcadero last Friday, that was Lance,Chris, Joey, J.C. and Justin lip-synching their new song, "I Promise You,"for their new Dave Meyers-directed video. Nevertheless, nosey dinners andpassers-bys were told that it was a rock band named the Melons. The boy band was in the Bay Area for two days to film the video, according to a spokesperson -- the first day in a redwood grove, the second smack dab in the middle of a tourist trap, where not a single person recognized them. Maybe that's a bad thing . . .

10/9/00-"This I Promise You" country style. 'N Sync is planning to unite the worlds of pop and country music once again, according to group member Lance Bass. The singer recently shared with Jive Records executive Clive Calder his idea of teaming up with a country artist. "We just released a ballad, 'This I Promise You,' to every market except country," Bass says. "I mean, we did Spanish, everything. I was talking to Clive Calder the other day and I was like, 'Why don't we do a country version, 'cause it's such a country song,' so we are going to get together with a well-known artist and pro bably collaborate this year." Lance added that the singer will be female. There is no word on when fans can expect to hear the musical collaboration on the radio.

10/9/00-Justin Timberlake was mentioned on "Scott Free on Hold" on the Dan and Scott show last Thursday, about 2:06 into the broadcast, though the subject is too potentially offensive to even mention, but you can check it out for the next day anyways.

10/9/00-The *NSYNC dolls are at their lowest prices of the year at Target and are being co-marketed with Barbie... At $14.44, now is the time to pick up all five.

10/7/00-While shooting the video for TIPY ... Lance was driving the golf cart around on the set and ran right into the food table and then into one of the guys trailers!!

10/6/00-MTV slipped by 18% in primetime. Brian Graden, president of programming for MTV, attributes the plunge to the cooling off of *NSYNC who have been so hot during the last two years that the network was scheduling a nightly repeat of its bellwether daytime series ``Total Request Live'' and scoring solid numbers. *NSYNC won the "Comet" award in Germany. They won in category "Act Ineternational."

10/5/00-Pop heartthrobs *NSYNC always try their best to entertain their fans at shows -- and will even break bones to ensure a good performance. The "Bye Bye Bye" hit makers have suffered a range of injuries while performing at live shows, but take it all in their stride. Band member J.C. says, "We do a mad show and getting hurt is just part of it, you just get wrapped up, taped up, and sent back out again. "Justin and me have both chipped our teeth on microphones. Joey and Chris and Lance have messed up their ankles quite a bit. Chris hurt his knee and Justin broke his arm. "It's just part of going out there! Once that crowd is in front of you, you don't think about it. The adrenaline takes over and you forget about the pain."

10/3/00-*NSYNC is nominated for Best Pop Act at this year's MTV Europe Awards. Other nominees include All Saints, Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, and Robbie Williams. MTV Europe Music Awards will be handed out in Stockholm on November 16th, 2000.

10/3/00-On Sex And The City a week ago there was a bratty little 13 year old girl who was having her Bahmitzvah and she wanted all this stuff at her party, including *nsync. Don't worry, the party coordinator [Samantha for those that watch the show] let her down easy .. "I don't think we'll get *nsync". To top it off, at the party, the 13 year old and two of her friends were talking. One of her friends says "I'm totally going to f*ck 3 of those 5 *nsync guys at the after party."Another one of her friends say "I heard two of them were gay", so the girl goes "I don't care, I'll f*ck them and their gay boyfriends".

10/1/00-The video release of "This I Promise You" has been delayed b/c the guys need to re-shoot some of the scenes. Some forest scenes were too dark and 'errie'looking, so they're re-filming.

10/1/00-*NSYNC are nominated in 5 categories for Teen People's Celeb Survey "Clash of the Titans". "Entertainment Event of the Year, Best Video, Best Boyband, Best Kiss-off, Best Album and Death Match You're Dying For. Go grab a copy of the Nov. issue of Teen People for a survey to fill out!

10/1/00-"I was at VH1 and their music awards are on November 30th. Voting ends October 20th, so go now!"

10/1/00-Melinda Speaks Out-Hi everyone: There is a serious issue that I must address on behalf of you and the guys! We are very aware with what is going on with our tickets. WE MUST STOP THE SCALPERS!!! It upsets us tremendously and we do everything we can to make the best possible show for our fans. Let me explain things we do as the management team, booking agent, and members of *NSYNC. We stagger the amount of tickets as we release them, meaning instead of releasing 15,000 tickets at once we release a bit at a time. So if the scalpers are buying the first hour they will not get as many as they originally intended to. Next we have put a limit on how many tickets one person can buy. We want a family to be able to go together, but they should not be able to buy for their whole block. The only way to stop this business of scalping, ticket brokers, and auctions on line is to not support them. Unless of course you know it is a legit auction (like Justin and CFTC auction of their tickets to help raise money for their foundations.) Those are the only legit auctions. Let those people on line sit there with their tickets. DO NOT SUPPORT THEM. *NSYNC charges a certain ticket price. They do not make any more on that ticket if it is scalped. Therefore, *NSYNC is also getting ripped off just like you, the fans. AGAIN...DO NOT PAY THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. It is the only way to shut them down. If *NSYNC is charging $32 for a ticket they expect Ticket Master to add a service charge but that is all. When they see someone selling their tickets for hunreds, even thousands of dollars it makes them cringe. Justin, Joey, JC, Chris and Lance take a firm stand against scalping and are asking you to support them by not buying your tickets from anyone but the authorized seller. It is called supply and demand. As long as you keep demanding the tickets they are going to stay in business and raise their prices. We know you guys are powerful in numbers, let's once again unite and stop this crime from continuing!! On another note: On their couple of days off the guys are doing all different things, here are a few of them: JC has been recording with Wild Orchid, doing promo in Canada. Joey has been shooting in a movie in Canada, and working on his new house, and doing promo in Canada. Lance attended the US Open, threw a special birthday party for his best friend and went to the beach. Justin has been writing new songs, and relaxing. Chris has been writing, working on his house, and relaxing. One final note: congratulations to our Tour Accountant Rob. He got married yesterday. It was a long one...but as always, Stay *NSYNC
