Holiday's In Concert
This was my favorite performance of the Christmas season because the guys seemed to truly be enjoying themselves, unlike previous performances. Could this be due to the fact that while onstage performing they got to do what they love, sing and dance, without the threat of questions about the lawsuit? Throw in the fact that they were in their hometown, and all this adds up to 5 happy entertainers. The show treated us to some Christmas memories from the guys. Josh told us Christmas at Disney is just huge, with lights on everything and immense trees. It puts everyone in a Christmas mood. Chris told us how his family spends Christmas. They go to midnight mass on Christmas Eve. When they got home form church they got to open their stockings to hold them over until morning when they can open the rest of their presents, because Chris' Mom knows he likes to get up at 3 a.m. on Christmas morning. Joey said his Christmas traditions involve his whole family gathering together. Justin recalled a Christmas when he was very young, and left Oreo cookies and milk for Santa. Justin figured Santa must have really liked those Oreos because he got good presents that year. Josh described his Christmas tradition too. His whole extended family goes to his Grandpa's for dinner. Then they go downstairs and his Grandpa reads from Scripture and they sing carols. Then Josh's immediate family opens gifts.
After all this I finally got to hear the guys sing. Josh played Santa coming on stage saying, "Merry Christmas! Ho, Ho, Ho!" All he needed was the suit and reindeer. Then the guys got down to business and song "(God Must Have Spent) A Little More Time On You." And at this time I need to point our that Justin still was blonde and Chris still had dreads when this was taped.
Then we heard more memories from the guys. Chris recalled how he and his sister used to wait up for Santa. They would wake each other up if one fell asleep until finally they both would fall asleep. Then on Christmas morning Chris was always the 1st downstairs because he's the biggest and would beat them all. Lance remarked that every other morning he's very tired when he wakes up, but not Christmas morning. Justin said the best present he has are memories of Christmases spent with family, and he's coming home Grandma.
Then we got to hear the guys sing again. Yeah! This time it's a song from their Christmas album, "Under My Tree."
After this song we get to hear the guys Christmas wishes for everyone. I have paraphrased them below:
Chris wished everyone the best Christmas and no matter what their belief is they know what Christmas is about, giving and not being selfish. If people have a great Christmas then it starts off a great new year.
Justin wished for everyone to get what they wanted for Christmas. That everyone is happy and in the Christmas spirit because it's all about family and having fun.
Joey wished for peace on Earth. Christmas is a reminder of that (peace on Earth) and Joey wished for people to realize how special the time they spend with family is and not to take it for granted.
Lance wished for everyone to come together with family and experience the true meaning of Christmas. Everyone should enjoy it, have fun and live it up.
Josh wished for everyone to have a Merry Christmas, to have fun, sing, be with family, and hang loose.
From their Christmas wishes the guys went into an accapella version of "Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays" which faded to the guys singing it on stage. The guys brought some of the audience up on stage with them towards the end of the song. The show finished with a big finale with Tatyana Ali and Shawn Colvin (the other 2 performers on the show) on stage with 'NSync.
