“Howdy there Miss!” said the strange voice from behind me. I quickly turned around to see the person who was speaking to me but to my surprise, there was no one there. I looked around the room.
“Hello??? Who’s there?” I asked into the air.
“Here I am doll!” I looked toward the doorframe and standing there was a semi tall man dressed in a red shirt with a red pair of pants and a red trench coat. Talk about an identity crisis!
“Yes. What can I do for you?” I asked the man.
“No my dear. The question is, what can I do for you. Well my dear! I have noticed that your friend over there is pretty sicky!” I then began to pay attention. “I think I may be able to help you babe.”
“Are you a doctor?” Hey you never know!
“Well... If you would like to say that then I am!” I had heard those words before. I am! I then began to scan my brain for answers. The Bible! I finally concluded that this phrase was said in the Bible many times. “But I am not God my dear.”
“What?” He said this as if he knew what I was thinking.
“I do know what you’re thinking and I know what you want! You want your little precious friend to live and be happy! It makes him upset that he is going to die but it makes you furious!” This was getting a little too odd for me!
“Hey Mr. I better go back. This is just too weird!”
“I can help you! Just listen to me for a sec. I promise to cure your friend completely and back to health if......” Oh boy there always has to be an “if”. “If you sell me your soul!”
“My soul?” I then knew this wasn’t any doctor, nurse, God or any of the above. I knew he was the Devil. “On one condition will I abide by your rules. That you promise to cure him and not hurt him!”
“Deal! I have some regulations of my own! You must not tell anyone about our little deal! If you do, there’s no deal! You shall be tortured and so shall your friend! Understood?”
“Fine!”
“Let’s shake on it!” I took his hand and felt horrible! I felt as if everything I ever had inside me was being taken. I felt weak and could barely stand. Darkness.
