Chapter Two

I arrived at the hospital and looked around. I had no idea where Brian would be. I decided to ask a strange looking nurse where the hell I should start looking. She told me that she saw a man almost exact to my description of Brian on the fourth floor, north wing. I decided to find a map. Okay scratch that. I decided to ask someone that looked semi-intelligent. I asked the front desk and they escorted me and everything (since Brian was a Backstreet Boy and all). Once I got to his room, I saw he was lying on the bed playing Gameboy, which I knew immediately belonged to Nick. As soon as he saw me, he screamed.

"Jessie! Hey how did you find me?" He yelled putting down his Gameboy.

"How could I miss you? They escorted me and everything. I feel like the damn president of the United States!" I sat on a chair next to him. "So how bad is it?"

"Real bad Jessie... Real bad...” He turned off his Gameboy.

"How bad Brian?" I repeated hoping to get an accurate answer.

"The doctors are giving me three weeks to live Jessie." He looked like he was about to cry but he fought hard to keep back the tears that swelled in his eyes.

"What?" I said softly. "How can this be? Why?" All these questions were filling up my mind. How could God take away my best friend in the whole wide world?

"I don't know Jessie. I don't know." He put his head back on the pillow.

"What do you want Brian? I'll give you anything. What do you want?" I asked determined to grant his every wish.

"Where's Leigh?" He asked softly. "I called her. She should be here by now." I couldn't believe my ears. My best friend was asking me to find Leigh instead of wanting me to stay with him like I always did when he was sick.

"I'll go outside and wait for her." I stood up and walked out the door as if to never come back. I couldn't believe this. He would prefer Leigh over his best friend. When did Leigh sit at his bedside while he was sick? NEVER! I did. And now he wants her? I went to the waiting room and sat down. And that's when I heard it. That's when my life took a turn for the worst.
