Sunday paper Parade Magazine:

Q. - Has Joey McIntyre continues in music since New Kids on the Block broke up?-Henry Washington, Detroit, MI

A. Yes. After New Kids disbanded in 1994, Joe (he dropped the "y") McIntyre won the lead in the film version of the world's longest-running musical, The Fantasticks. Shot in 1995 but shelved by United Artists until Francis Ford Coppola recut it, the film finally will be released this Friday. McIntyre, 27, said he's happy with his acting but still focused on singing. His album Stay the Same went gold last year, and he's writing songs for a new CD. Joe told us he has a fiancee, but they're taking a break from the relationship because "she's ready for a normal life with a family, and that's hard in this business."

"Joey McIntyre's Fantastick Film Debut" (from J-14, October 2000)-photo of JM in mag Alot of pop stars have been talking about doing films. But Joey McIntyre is one of the few who has already done one! If you're a fan of musicals, you might already be familiar with "The Fantasticks," a romantic comedy that's been performed on stages around the world for over 40 years. Five years ago, a film version was made, starring McIntyre and Jean Louisa Kelly ("Mr. Holland's Opus") as two neighbor kids who try to overcome their parents' objections to their relationship. Of course, what they don't realize is that the families would like nothing more than the kids to get together... and they're hoping a little bit of reverse psychology ("you can't see him!") will do the trick. Joey was a little younger when he made it, but his musical skills are apparent. We just didn't realize he could act, too!

Fri 9/15 -- MSN online chat (Fantasticks) 7:30pm

Check next week for the ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT interview, where JM does a dose of nostalgia

Joe has been involved in some recent charity events, and although his attendance was thanked and appreciated for attending the local "bartending" event. Check out the article on the event on Boston Phoenix.

He also has loaned his star status to another NJ event that will have pics galore in mags (soon) and a possible TV viewing as well. More news to come when I have more media information about the event, and also the TV date if it does air.

Joe will be singing the National Anthem at the Fleet Center on Aug. 20th for the Women's Gymnastics finals.
