CHAPTER 1
Sydney danced and sang her heart out at the Backstreet Boys concert she was at
with her best friend Michelle. She had made a sign that read “Nick you are my fire!”
and intended on holding it up for the last song of the night, ‘I Want It That Way’. The
song came, and she held it up while Michelle pointed vigerously at it. Nick came
around to their side of the stage. When he saw it, he stopped dead in his tracks,
cocked his head to the side, read it, then waved at Sydney while flashing a bright
smile. She immediately began to freak out. Nick laughed, then continued his way
around the stage. After the show, Sydney and Michelle made their way out to the car
and slowly found their way back to their hotel. “That show was awesome...I still can’t
believe Nick waved to me!” Sydney said.
“I know Syd. You’re so lucky! Ya know what I noticed though? He didn’t wave to
anyone else all night.” Michelle replied.
“Really?” “Yeah, at least I didn’t notice him waving to anyone.” Sydney was beaming.
“You’re so on cloud nine aren’t you?” Michelle joked.
“Wouldn’t you be?”
“Yeah.” The girls continued to talk as they made their way to their hotel room.
“Nick, slow down before you kill sombody!” Brian yelled to his fellow bandmate who
was running to get to his hotel room. He turned halfway around to glance at Brian,
and ran smack into sombody that came from around the corner.
“Hey jerk, watch it!” Sydney said as she began to pick herself up off the ground, not
even glancing at the person who ran into her.
“I’m sorry, are you okay?” Nick asked as he knelt down to help her.
“Yes I’m fine. Do I look like I’m made of glass?!” Sydney snapped, still not looking at
him. Michelle stood there in shock.
“Syd...” Michelle said.
“What?”
“It’s Nick.”
“Oh my God, where?! Did he see me fall like that?”
“Umm yeah.”
“Shit! Where is he?”
“If I’m the Nick you’re talking about, I’m right here.” Nick said. Sydney glanced at
him out of the corner of her eye, then turned to face him.
“Oh, you’re the one who knocked me down...”
“Yeah, I’m very sorry. I was just in a hurry.”
“Well you should be more careful.”
“Yeah, well...” Nick saw the poster Sydney was holding. “Nice poster.”
“Thanks.”
“I saw you holding that up during the show.”
“I know, I saw you wave.”
“I noticed.” Nick let out a chuckle.
“Well, we should get to our room, we’ve got a lot to talk about.” Sydney said with a
grin.
“Oh really...well have fun.” Nick said.
“Trust me, we will.” Michelle said. Nick watched her and Sydney walk into their room.
As soon as they shut the door, Brian tapped Nick on his shoulder.
“Man, don’t do that.” Nick said as he spun around in shock. “How long have you been
behind me?”
“Just for a minute. I saw the collision and decided to hold back in case we needed to
make a detour route.” Brian joked.
“Funny.”
“I know.” Nick laughed, then opened the door to his hotel room which was right next
to Michelle and Sydney’s room. Brian and the other guys went into theirs as well.
“Man he is so hot in person! Did you see how hot he was?” Sydney gushed.
“No, I failed to notice even though he was standing two feet from me.” Michelle said
sarcastically. Sydney made a face at her. A second later, Sydney smacked herself on
the forehead.
“Man!”
“What?”
“We didn’t get autographs! We are such jerks Shell!” Sydney jumped up and ran to
the door and opened it to see if there was any chance Nick might still be in the hall.
She hung her shoulders as she found that the hallway was empty. She let the door
shut, then went and sat back on her bed across from Michelle. “He’s not out there
anymore.”
“What made you think he would be?” Michelle teased.
“I don’t know.” Sydney laughed as she leaned onto her back and stared at the
ceiling. “God I want to do him!” She yelled.
“So you’ve said a million times.” Michelle teased.
“I bet he thinks I’m a big jerk.”
“So what if he does, Syd. As if he’s never been a jerk before.”
“That’s true. I wonder where the other guys were?”
Nick could hear every word the girls were saying, and could barely keep himself from
dying of laughter, until he heard Sydney say she wanted to do him. He immediately
ran out of his room and into Brian’s to drag him into his room. “Bri, you gotta her
what they’re saying!” Nick said
“What who’s saying?”
“Those girls!”
“That’s not cool, man. Don’t listen to what they’re saying!” Brian said as they got into
Nick’s room.
“No, just listen. It’s some funny stuff...well some of it is.” After a few minutes of
persuading, Nick got Brian to stay and listen.
“...ya know, Shell, Nick wears a size eleven shoe. That means his penis is 6 inches!”
Sydney said. Nick got a shocked look on his face when he heard that, while Brian
busted a gut laughing.
“Yeah, well Bri wears a size ten. That makes him 5 inches!” Brian stoped laughing,
and it was now Nick’s turn to bust a gut.
“Shell, listen!” Sydney whispered. The two could hear Nick laughing. They inched
closer to the wall and they could hear Brian talking.
“That’s not funny, Nick!”
“You laughed when they said how big I was!” They heard Nick say through his
laughing.
“Is that Nick and Brian?”
“It sounds like it.”
“What a couple of jerks!” Sydney said, careful not to let them hear. “I can’t believe
they’re listening to us!”
“Let’s get em for this, Syd.”
“How?” Michelle walked over and sat down on her bed, flashing Sydney a
mischevious smile. Sydney did the same. Michelle and Sydney then began talking,
making sure Nick and Brian could hear.
“Ya know what I heard?”
“What?”
“Nick cheated on his girlfriend four times.” Sydney giggled.
“Are you serious?”
“Yeah.”
“Whoa!” Nick looked at Brian, horror all across his face. Brian tried hard not to laugh.
“Where would she have heard that?” Nick asked.
“Beats me! Go ask her!”
“Good idea.” Nick got up and walked to the door.
“Nick, I was joking! They’ll know we were listening if you do!”
“So? I want to know where she heard that I cheated on Mandy.”
“They’re going to hate you.”
“So?”
“Whatever, man. If you don’t care that they’re going to hate you, then why do you
care about the cheating thing? You’ve got nothing to worry about if it didn’t happen.”
“I know that.”
“Then why...nevermind. Do what you’re going to do. Just leave me out of it.” Brian
said. Nick walked out of his room and knocked on the door of Michelle and Sydney’s
room.
“We don’t want any!” Sydney yelled.
“Are you sure about that?” Nick said through the door. The girls opened the door with
smiles on their faces.
“Can we help you?” Michelle asked.
“Yeah, I overheard you two talking.”
“Oh, you did? What did you hear?” Sydney asked.
“I heard you say a lot of stuff, but the reason I came over is cuz I want to know
where you heard that I cheated on Mandy.”
“A source.”
“What source?”
“I can’t tell you that. Is it true?”
“That’s my buisness.”
“And so are our conversations.” Michelle said with a grin.
“You’re right, and I’m sorry. Forgive me?”
“One condition.”
“What’s that?”
“Autograph.”
“Fine with me. Just to tell ya, I didn’t cheat on Mandy.”
“I know. I made that up.”
“You are rotten!” Nick said. “Who do I make these out to?”
“Syd and Shell.”
“I’m Syd.”
“I’m Shell.”
“I’m Nick.”
“We know.” Sydney and Michelle both said. Nick signed their CD’s, then went back to
his room where Brian was waiting.
“So were they pissed?”
“No. They made it up.” Brian laughed.
“It’s not funny.”
“Yes it is.”
“No it’s not.”
“Fine.”
“This was such a good idea getting a hotel tonight. This way it’s just the two of us
without any interruptions.”
“Yeah, besides the one with Nick.”
“True...I’m so tired.”
“Me too. But I don’t want to go to sleep.”
“Me neither.” The two girls stayed up half the night just talking about the past.
“I’m going to bed, our flight leaves early tomorrow morning.”
“Bye.” Brian left and Nick sat down in front of his Play Station. He played and played
for hours trying to beat Resident Evil 2. Finally, at 3am, he beat the game, then went
to sleep. The next morning, an hour before their plane was scheduled to leave, Brian
called Nick to see if he was ready.
“Shit! Bri, why didn’t you get me up earlier? I won’t be ready!”
“Well you better hurry! We have the awards show in LA tonight.”
“I know. I’ll have to catch the next flight.”
“Well are you getting up?”
“Yes, I’m up. I’m up.”
Sydney and Michelle got up to start packing Sydney’s stuff. Her flight to Los Angeles
left in two hours. Once they got all packed, they headed to the airport. “So this is it,
huh?”
“Yeah, your last night in Dallas. I’m going to miss you Sydney. We’ve been through
everything together.”
“I know. Give everyone back a hug for me.”
“I will.”
