"O,nothing," I lied. Truth is I'm proud of Chrissy she just gave up a big temptation. WOW. I gotta give her some points for that, time to report back to Nick.
Howie and my sister were still not out yet. However, Teresa did wander back over to Nick and AJ. She whispered something to AJ and he walkedover to the pool and jumped in.
"Well,"I asked somewhat nervous. "He wanted to know if she liked him and she saidshe had to stay true to you." Reported Teresa. "ThankGod." I said. Just then Chrissyand Howie walked out, Teresa went to join AJ in the pool and I ran up and gaveChristine the biggest hug. Brian didn'tlook too happy though.
Teresa walked over to the pool and peeled off her shorts to reveal a fashionablebikini. She dove in. We played, dunked each other etc..... thenwe kissed.
"Hehugged her, he kissed her. Kevin, these girls are in for nothing but a heartache." I said. "Really ...I know. Why? Sorry, I'm slow." Kevin said. "Well, I have afeeling that AJ likes Teresa as evidence from the fact that he kissedher." "DUH!" Kevin said. "And Nick like Chris because he hugged her," "Yea, so?" "Well...I dunno! At least I'm thinking!" "Hey Bri?" "Yea, Kev?" "I gotta go...cause my mom's comingover for dinner." "OK" "Sorry...bye!" "Bye." O well.... atleast one admirer of Teresa was gone. She may not be my sister, but I feel like I need to watch her. Sure she's 18, but so what...she's cute as anything!
Awwwwww!" I said when Nick hugged me. He leaned over and kissed me on thelips. WHOA! Did that just happen? Hepulled away from my face and smiled at me. I smiled back and he held me in his arms. I guess Howie saw that, because he ran out the door and into his car and left. Nick had a strong hold onme, so I was fine.
"HeyAJ, come here." I called. AJ walked over. "Bone, how about you and Teresa catch a movie and havedinner?" I asked. "Ummmmm...OK. I get it, you want to have a brother to sister talk...right? AJ asked. "You got it." "OK, we're outi." AJsaid. "AJ," I called,"Be careful with Teresa." AJwalked away with Teresa and they drove away. "Nickolas!" Icalled. "Come hereplease." "Yea?" Nick asked. "I think you should go." "Why?" "Because Idisprove of you and Chris, OK?" "No that's not OK!" "What's wrong?" Chris asked. "He wants me togo!" Nick whined. "OK...well, I'll see you tomorrow!" She and Nick exchanged a small kiss (on the lips), which mademe even madder. "Goodbye Nickolas!" "Bye." he said sorrowfully looking at Chris. "Good luck, baby."
"Why did you make him go?" Iscreamed. "I need to talk to youabout something." Great! I thought. Another heart to heart talk. Here it goes.........
I'm worried that your heart will be broken." I said "Why," she asked in her don't-get-me-pissed-off-tone. "Cause he get marriage proposals everyday, and he's bound to findsomeone he likes better." "What the hell," she screamed."I'm not good enough am I? I see how itis your little sister won't be good enough for anybody, will I. "He justdoesn't do well with commitment," I said. She stood up tears streaming down her face. "Shut up Brian, just shut up," she screamed. With that she ran out of the house takingthe car keys with her and drove off.
I was in such a rage that I ran out of the house and drove to Nick's; I knew he could cheer me up. I reached his house tearsstill streaming down my face. Nickanswered the door, and rushed over to me. "Whats wrong baby," he asked I poured out the whole story ofBrian's and mine conversation, and he held me in his strong arms and made mesome tea. I didn't taste all that good, but its the thought that counts. Heasked me if I need anything. I replied,"Could you tell me that you will never cheat, lie, or be cruel tome?" Nick took my hands and lookedme in the eye and said, "I promise." He gave me a kiss and we sat on the couch together talking about howmuch we loved each other and about life in general. At about 10, Brian called Nick's house and was worried to deathabout me.
"Nick---look,I'm really sorry and all, but do you know where Chris is?" I was worried about her. How could I be so mean to her? I'm such an idiot! What if she's drunk in a bar, or caught a ride with a hooker orsomething? "Oh, it's OK Bri." Nick said. "She's right here..." "O thanks God! I was soworried! I don't know what I would havedone if anything happened to her." I said. "Could you ask herto come home please? It would make mefeel a lot better." "Sure! Bye Bri." "Bye Nick!" I hung up. I'm soooo lucky she's OK! I'll apologize to her the minute she gets home.
I walked up the steps to Brian's house and he ran out to greet me and give me ahug. "I was so worried aboutyou!" Brian gasped. "Don't be...Nick took care of me. He made me feel safe. Why were you so overprotective?" I asked. "You're my little sister. Ihave to be! I also thought that maybe, well, maybe you would get married. Icouldn't stand losing you like that." Brian was starting to sob. "It's OK." I said. We spent the whole night reminiscing about old times and how much we missed eachother. All Brian could talk about wasTeresa. It was starting to get annoying! "STOP IT! She likes and is going out with AJ! Sorry...wrong number!" Brian looked sad, so I let him talk abouther all night. WE ender up fallingasleep on the couch. I was happy, until the phone rang. I answered it.
I woke to the phone ringing, Chrissy got it. "No, this is his sister, Miss. Littrell." obviously the personwas looking for me. Chris's face wentwhite and she looked scared out of her mind, she dropped the phone. I picked up. "Hello, this is Mr. Littrell," I said. "Mr. Littrell, I'm Sergeant Michaels of the Kentucky Police Department. I'mafraid I have some bad news, your parents were killed in a car crash lastnight." "O no." I said." I dropped the phone and held Chris close. "It's alright, we'll get throughthis." Chris looked horrible. I had never seen her this way, I knew thebest thing to do was to call Nick and let her have time with him. Nick came over right away and they settleddown on the porch. Me? I fell down on the couch and cried my eyesout. How could this happen to me? Why now? The funeral was scheduled for tomorrow since everyone was free. It was a beautiful ceremony and Teresa evenhugged me and gave me a kiss. I triedto smile, but I couldn't. Not with this great burden.
The funeral was 3 days ago. I'm still shaken by how mom and dad looked in their caskets. At least they were buried together. We had them buried side by side with a gravestone shaped like aheart. Brian was more shaken up than Iwas. He walked around the house fordays looking dumb, deaf and blind. Icouldn't stand to see him like this. Ohwell Nick was always there. And guesswhat ? It official. . . . AJ and Teresa are a couple. YEA. Brian became my official guardian.
