1 ½ years later…………………

The waves crash.
Sea and sand clash.
My heart is broken in two.
The seagulls sing.
I still have the ring,
That says I still love you.

Nick thought of the poem that he wrote as he was walking down the beach. Alone. He still thought about Mariah everyday. He still had nightmares about the accident at night. He still believed it was his fault that she was gone forever. But most of all, he remembered the night he saw her ghost. The night he fell through the bridge. He could never forget that. He had been done with all the tests and the physical therapy for 6 months. Everyone pushed him to go on a date but he always said he couldn’t betray Mariah. Nick knew she was gone, but he couldn’t except it. While walking down the beach he saw a girl crying. He paid no attention at first because he couldn’t bear to even look at another girl now, but he decided he couldn’t just leave without giving the girl some comfort. He walked over to her and said, “Umm….hi.” The girl looked up and then back down. “Go away.” she said. “I just thought you might want some comfort. I mean you are crying.” “Why would a super star care about some girl he doesn’t know?” “Because I’ve cried before, too. Of course, it may not be the same reason you’re crying.” Nick said as he sat down on a rock. “I find it hard to believe that you could ever cry.” “Well, I have cried. In fact, I cry every night. You do know why don’t you?” “Uh, no.” “Apparently you don’t read the papers. About a year ago, my girlfriend, Mariah Jones, died. I love her very much. In fact, I was going to take her out that night to ask her to marry me.” “Umm, what do you mean, you love her? Don’t you mean you loved her?” “No. I mean I love her. She may be gone, but I still love her. I haven’t even been on a date since she died.” “Wow, that’s what I call dedication.” “It’s not dedication. It’s love.” “Ha! I don’t believe in love!” “Why not?” “The reason I’m sitting here crying is because the guy I thought loved me just left me for a faggy ass slut! That’s why I don’t believe in love!” “Not all guys are like that. Take me, for example.” “If I could take you I’d be in heaven, okay?” Nick laughed when she said that. “What’s so funny, super star?!” “Nothing. It’s just that I don’t know which fans really love me for who I am.” “Hold up! I am not a fan! I like very few of your songs and I don’t get all excited when you come on TV! I like to get to know someone before I LOVE them! I just think you’re cute.” “Thanks for the compliment. Listen, I’m sorry about the jackass who dumped you. You’re a very pretty girl and any guy would be lucky to have you. Well, I got to go. See ya…..umm…” “Veronica. Veronica Smith. Pleasure to meet you and thanks. You cheered me up a bit.” “No prob. Well, see ya Veronica.” “I don’t think that’s going to be any time soon.” “Yeah it will. Why don’t you come over to my house?” “Well…..okay. Give me your address.” Nick gave her his address and they parted. “She seems cool.” Nick thought.
