“Michael Nickolas Carter!” yelled out Liz as she looked at her four-year-old son. He was standing in the kitchen and using finger paints all over the wall. “And Jennifer Elizabeth Carter!” she exclaimed as she looked at her daughter. The eighteen-month-old toddler was sitting on the floor and happily splashing her brother’s paints all over it.
“Mommy, look what I did!” announced Michael cheerfully.
“Yes, mommy saw what you did,” said Liz and went over to her son and daughter.
“Do you like it?” asked Michael looking between his mother and his ‘masterpiece’.
“Of course I do honey, but why didn’t you use paper?” asked Liz.
“It’s too small,” stated Michael. He looked at his mother with his large greenish blue eyes, just like hers. “Are you mad at me?” he asked in a small voice.
“Of course not,” assured him Liz and led him over to the sink. “Now let’s get your hands washed,” she said as she turned on the water.
“So what’s going on here?” asked Nick coming into the kitchen. He spotted his son’s ‘masterpiece’ and then picked up his daughter. “And what are you doing?” he asked her and she babbled something incomprehensible in response. Nick laughed and tousled her short blond hair. He walked over to Liz and looked at Michael. “Your work I’m guessing?” he asked pointing at the wall.
Michael nodded and looked at his father. “Are you mad at me?” he asked.
“Not at all, in fact, I think we may have a future artist in the family,” he said smiling at his wife and children. He then ruffled Michael’s blond hair and went over to the sink to wash off Jennie’s hands since Liz was already done washing Michael’s.
“When are the guys coming over?” asked Liz while drying her son’s hands.
“In about an hour, they’re bringing everyone with them,” replied Nick.
“I wouldn’t have it any other way,” said Liz smiling.
It was six and a half years after they had gotten married and since then, the rest of the Backstreet Boys were married and had kids too. The group was still going strong and although their sound changed just a bit, they were still loved all around the world.
