The Plan Revealed

Liz’s point of view

I woke up to the annoying buzzing of my alarm clock. It was back to work; I wanted to stay in bed just a bit longer. Five thirty really was too early to get up. I rubbed my eyes and sat up. I looked outside and saw that it had snowed during the night and everything was covered in a soft white blanket. Well, what I could see of it anyway, it was still pretty dark outside.
After I took a shower and got dressed in a nice warm sweater and jeans, I looked at my watch and saw that it was only 6:05 a.m. I didn’t have to leave my house until 6:30 so I decided to call Nick and make sure that he was actually awake. I dialed his cell phone number and waited for him to pick up.
“Hello?” came Nick’s sleepy voice.
“Hey, you awake?” I asked.
“I am now,” he replied and yawned. “What time is it?” he asked.
“Like seven minutes after six,” I replied.
“WHAT??” yelled Nick and I could hear him jumping out of bed.
“Did you oversleep again?” I asked.
“My alarm clock didn’t go off,” he replied hastily.
“Why didn’t Kelly wake you up?” I questioned.
“Cause she’s asleep in her room, she doesn’t get up at this time,” he said.
“Oh, so I guess it’s a good thing I called,” I observed.
“Very, thank you so much,” said Nick gratefully. “I gotta get ready and stuff, I’ll see you on the set,” he said.
“Sure, see you then,” I said and hung up. I then figured that I might as well eat something, so I went downstairs to the kitchen and made myself a sandwich and a cup of coffee. After I was done, I looked at my watch and saw that it was 6:27, I got my jacket, purse, car keys, and left.
When I got to the set, I parked my car and began walking towards the building.
“Liz, wait!” I heard someone yell.
I recognized the voice immediately. “Brad, leave me alone,” I said without turning around or slowing down my pace. I could hear him running after me, trying to catch up. I began to walk faster.
“Will you please wait?” asked Brad, finally catching up with me.
“Why should I?” I shot back.
“Cause I need to talk to you,” he replied falling into step beside me.
“We have nothing to talk about,” I said coldly.
“You ran out of the movies without giving me a chance to explain,” began Brad.
“Explain?” I asked, my eyes flashing with anger. “Explain what? It seemed pretty clear to me what was going on.”
“But it’s not what you think,” said Brad.
“Look, I don’t want to talk to you, or see you, or even hear you,” I said and stopped because we reached the building where the set was. “Now I have to go to work, goodbye Brad,” I said and without waiting for him to say something, ducked inside the building.

Nick’s point of view

I was running late, but then again, that was nothing new. I’ve gotten used to the fact that I was almost always late for everything, no matter how hard I tried being on time. I was approaching the set when I heard someone call out my name. I turned around and saw my least favorite person in the world, Brad.
“What do you want?” I asked coldly. I hated that guy.
“I want you to talk to Liz, I need to talk to her but she won’t give me the time of day,” he said coming towards me.
“Smart girl,” I retorted.
“Nick, look, I know that you’re mad at me too because you’re Liz’s friend, but can’t you please talk her into at least hearing me out?” pleaded Brad.
“No I can’t, and I won’t,” I stated.
“Why not?” he asked.
“Do you not understand English?” I exclaimed. “Liz hates you! You hurt her in the worst possible way, and you won’t understand why she doesn’t want to talk to you?” I added. “You really are a moron,” I said and went inside. Once there, I spotted Liz, she was coming out of wardrobe.
“Hey,” I said running up to her.
“Hey,” she said grinning. “You finally made it,” she said.
“Yeah, I gotta get a new alarm clock,” I said running my hand through my hair.
“Well, you better hurry up and get into wardrobe and make-up,” said Liz. “Jake and Todd were looking for you about ten minutes ago and let me just say that they weren’t thrilled to find out that you weren’t here yet,” she told me.
“Gotcha,” I said and quickly made my way over to wardrobe. After getting dressed and stopping by make-up, I went to the set of ‘Angel and Michael’s high school’ because that was where the scene for that day was supposed to be filmed.

“Nick, are you okay?” asked Liz coming up to me. It was our usual break between filming the scene and all the actors were either talking to one another or eating.
“Sure, why do you ask?” I asked as Liz sat down next to me.
“Well, I couldn’t help but notice that you forgot a lot of your lines,” she replied.
“Oh that, I just have a lot on my mind that’s all,” I said shrugging.
“Do you want to talk about it?” she asked softly.
“No, that’s okay, it’s nothing major,” I said.
“Sure?” she asked.
I nodded. “Positive,” I said.
“Okay, well, I’m gonna get something to eat, you want anything?” she asked gesturing over to the refreshment table.
“Um, bring me a soda,” I said and Liz nodded and left. I sighed and ran my fingers through my hair, something I did when I was frustrated. I lied to Liz, what I was thinking about was major; it was just not something that I could talk to her about. Basically because it was her I was thinking about. Working with Liz on the movie for the past couple of weeks caused all of my feelings to come flooding back stronger than ever. I didn’t know how to deal with them. I truly thought that I was over her and that I only loved her as a friend, boy was I wrong.

Kelly’s point of view

“Did you set everything up?” I asked AJ.
“Yep, all done,” he replied over the phone. “Kev and me set everything up while Nick was at work, I gotta say, it looks great,” he added.
“Perfect, now all I have to do is keep Nick out of the backyard for about an hour while Brian gets Liz over here,” I said thoughtfully.
“That shouldn’t be very hard, I mean, it is freezing outside,” commented AJ.
“I guess you’re right, but he still might see all the stuff that’s there,” I said.
“Doubt it,” said AJ. I then heard Brian saying something in the background.
“What did Bri say?” I asked.
“He asked how he was supposed to get Liz over there,” replied AJ laughing. “He still hasn’t thought of a way.”
“Okay, well, tell him to tell her that Nick needs to speak to her and asked Bri to tell Liz to come over,” I told him; it sounded like a plan.
“Hmm, not a bad idea,” mused AJ. He then told Brian about it and he quickly agreed cause he obviously didn’t have any better ideas. “Okay, Rok said that he’ll have Liz over there at about 8, assuming that she gets home from work before that,” AJ told me.
“Okay great, then I’ll simply keep Nick out of the backyard till then, and when it’ll be time, I’ll get him over there at the same time that Liz will be there,” I said.
“Great, so I’ll talk to you later,” said AJ.
“Later,” I said and hung up. I had to get home before Nick because I had gone out to get a few last things for that night’s plan and I was on my way home. I took a quick look at my watch; it was almost six thirty. I spotted my exit and quickly got off the highway. I got home around seven and took a quick look around the house to make sure that Nick was not there yet. Satisfied that he wasn’t, I went to the backyard. I had to give AJ and Kevin their props; they did a wonderful job setting everything up. Now, it was only a matter of time.

Liz’s point of view

I waved bye to Nick and walked into my house. Strangely, I was greeted by Brian and not Lana.
“Hey,” he said brightly.
“Hi, what are you doing here?” I asked.
“Well it’s nice to see you too,” he said pouting.
I laughed. “Bri, you know I didn’t mean it like that,” I said.
Brian grinned. “I know,” he said. “And as for what I’m doing here, Nick told me that he needed to talk to you and that you should come by his house around eight,” he explained.
“But I just saw Nick,” I said confused. “Why didn’t he say something himself?” I asked.
“Because he just figured that I would tell you so he probably didn’t want to mention it,” said Brian shrugging.
“Okay,” I said slowly, still not fully understanding what was going on. I looked at my watch. “It’s after seven thirty,” I observed.
“Yeah, so you got a half an hour,” said Brian.
“Uh huh, so I’m gonna go upstairs and change,” I said and headed to my room.
“Okay, I’ll be right here,” said Brian plopping onto the couch and turning on the TV. I nodded and went into my room. Once inside, I sat down on my bed and rested my chin on my hands. What was going on with me? At work, I was barely able to concentrate because of Nick. He was beginning to have the same effect on me as he did during the summer. Not that I didn’t like that effect, I loved it in fact. It was just that I really thought that I was over Nick; I guess I was wrong, very wrong.

Kelly’s point of view

“Come on, I have something to show you in the backyard,” I said trying to coax Nick into moving off of the couch.
“What is it?” he groaned. “I’m tired,” he added.
“Just trust me, you’ll love it,” I said and tossed Nick’s jacket to him. He reluctantly put it on and got up from the couch.
“Okay, let’s see it,” he said walking over to the doors that led to the backyard.
“Hold it, I need to blindfold you first,” I said coming up to him with the blindfold.
“Why?” he asked suspiciously.
“It’s part of the surprise,” I replied and tied the blindfold around his eyes. “See anything?” I asked.
“Nope,” said Nick shaking his head.
“Good, now let’s go to the backyard,” I said leading him outside. Once in the backyard, I heard the doorbell.
“Who’s that?” asked Nick.
“I don’t know, I’ll go get it,” I said. “Wait here and don’t you dare remove the blindfold,” I warned. Nick grinned but listened to me. I quickly ran to the front door and opened it.
“Hey Kel,” said Brian.
“Hey,” said Liz. She looked confused.
“Hey you two, Nick is in the backyard,” I said walking with them there. “Liz, I just need to blindfold you cause uh…Nick has a surprise for you and he wants you to be, well, surprised,” I said holding up a blindfold like the one Nick was wearing at the moment.
“What’s going on?” asked Liz suspiciously.
“Don’t worry, you’ll find out,” said Brian grinning while I tied the blindfold around Liz’s eyes. Once I was satisfied that she couldn’t see a thing, Brian and me led her to the backyard where Nick was still waiting. I was happy to see that he had listened to me and was still wearing his blindfold.
“Okay, on three,” I told Brian and he nodded. “One, two, three!” I said as I removed Nick’s blindfold and Brian removed Liz’s. They both stared at each other in shock. Then they looked at the backyard and both gasped in surprise. It was a replica of the night during the summer right before Liz had left, with a few slight differences. The pool was frozen over and it was glinting in the moonlight. There were blue and green candles spread all around it and they glowed softly. Rose petals were also scattered on the ice surface. Near the pool, a table was set up; only there were no plates or silverware on it, just two white cups and a thermos. It was full of hot chocolate because it was a cold night.
“What is all this?” asked Liz softly.
“Yeah, what’s going on?” asked Nick looking at me.
“Nick, Liz, this is your night,” I said and they both looked at me confused. “I want you two to be together and I figured that a way of getting you two to be with each other was to remind you of this magical night,” I explained.
“But wait, Kel, I don’t understand,” said Nick.
“Nick, I care for you, but I also know that you’re in love with Liz,” I said softly. “Look at her,” I told him. “Can you imagine your life without her?” I asked. Nick hesitated, but then shook his head. “I knew that you couldn’t, you two have found what not many people find, real true love, you have to cherish it your entire life and never let go,” I said.
“But I don’t want to lose you either,” said Nick.
“You’ll never lose me, I’ll always be your friend and I’ll always be there for you when you need me,” I told him.
“But Kelly, why are you doing this?” asked Liz.
“Because I know how much you love Nick, and how much he loves you, I could see it in both of your eyes. I just couldn’t stand by while you two let this love get away,” I replied. “You’re meant to be,” I added.
Liz’s eyes filled with tears and Nick’s did the same. “Thank you, so much, I don’t even know how to express my gratitude to you for this,” said Liz, her voice full of emotion.
“Seeing you two together is thanks enough for me,” I told her and smiled.
“You are the greatest,” said Nick.
I smiled at him. “And don’t you ever forget it,” I said jokingly. I came up to him and kissed him softly on the cheek. “Be happy Nick,” I said. “By the way, I’m going back to Florida tomorrow,” I added.
“But…” said Nick and I cut him off.
“I want to, I want to spend some time with my family and my other friends, but I’ll see you on tour,” I said grinning.
Nick understood. “Okay, I’ll see you then,” he said softly.
“Never let him go,” I told Liz and gave her a hug.
She hugged me tightly. “I won’t,” she whispered. “Thank you,” she said.
“Anytime,” I replied. Then Brian and me quietly exited the backyard and left Nick and Liz to talk amongst themselves.
