ONE YEAR LATER

Julie gazed at the sleeping baby in her arms and then looked up at her husband. "Can you believe that we made this?" she asked in a whisper.
"I'm just shocked that I'm actually a father," replied Nick softly. "Am I mature enough for this?" he asked quietly laughing.
"I don't know, am I?" asked Julie also laughing.
"You're going to make a wonderful mother to this little girl," said Nick and kissed Julie's lips.
"And I know that you're going to make a wonderful father," replied Julie and kissed Nick.
They were standing in the brand new nursery in their house. The wallpaper was a delicate pink with multi colored flowers. All the baby furniture was white, and so were the curtains on the windows.
Julie handed the sleeping baby to Nick and the little girl stirred and then opened her eyes. She had dark brown hair, just like her mother, and she had Nick's crystal clear blue eyes.
"Hi Kelly," said Nick to his daughter. "Remember me, I'm your daddy," he added in a hushed tone. Even though Kelly was barely a week old, Nick could've sworn that he saw a smile on her face.
"Hi sweetie, I'm your mommy," said Julie and smiled at the baby. Kelly looked from one parent to the other and then closed her eyes and went back to sleep.
"I guess we bore her," said Nick with a laugh.
"Good one," commented Julie. Nick then put Kelly back into his wife's arms and Julie put the baby into her crib and covered her with a blanket.
"She's so beautiful," said Nick sighing contently and put his arm around his wife and pulled her close to him.
"Yeah, and she's all ours," said Julie and raised her face towards Nick. Their lips met in what was going to be one of the countless kisses they would share as parents and as husband and wife.
