Lost

Angel’s point of view

“I…uh…I gotta go,” I blurted out and quickly got up from the chair and grabbed my purse. I ran out of the club and then ran for a full block before stopping to catch my breath. Drew! I called out mentally. A few seconds passed. What? I heard his response. I’m going home, I’ll see you later. I told him and immediately put up my guard so that he wouldn’t be able to get through. I really didn’t feel like explaining what happened to my brother.
I completely forgot about the fact that Kelly had driven Drew and me to the club and that I was stuck. My house was too far away from the club, it had taken us forty minutes to drive there, and it would take me hours to walk back. I knew that I could simply tell Drew what happened and he would tell Kelly, but I didn’t want to talk to anyone, I wanted to be alone. I walked silently down the unfamiliar street. I looked around but none of the street signs looked recognizable. I turned onto a different street and headed in the direction of what I thought would be my house. I didn’t know if I was right or not, and frankly, I didn’t care.

Nick’s point of view
I sat stunned at the table trying to figure out what had happened.
“Where’s Angel?” asked Kelly coming up to me.
“She said she had to go,” I replied. “What is going on with her?” I asked.
“I have no idea, and I have no idea why she lied to you,” said Kelly shrugging.
“How long ago did Angel leave?” asked Drew coming up to us.
“How did you know she left?” asked Kelly suspiciously.
“Doesn’t matter, how long ago?” he asked again.
“About five minutes,” I told him.
“Thanks,” said Drew and hurried out the door. I looked between him and Kelly, was I missing something?
“Do you get the feeling like you’re missing something?” asked Kelly basically reading my thoughts.
“Yeah, exactly what I was thinking,” I said thoughtfully.
“I’m going to go after both of them, maybe I can figure out what happened,” said Kelly.
“Can I come?” I asked.
“Yeah sure, let’s go,” said Kelly and motioned for me to get up. I did and we were almost out the door when I remembered that I wasn’t at the club alone.
“Hold on, I gotta tell my friends I’m leaving,” I told Kelly and scanned the club for any sign of the guys. I spotted Howie on the dance floor still dancing with the same girl he was earlier. “I’ll be right back,” I said to Kelly and approached Howie. “D, listen, I gotta go get something straightened out, tell the other guys I left okay?”
“Yeah sure, no problem,” said Howie nodding.
“Thanks.” I then hurried off back to Kelly. “Okay, let’s go,” I said and we walked out of the club.

Drew’s point of view

I ran out of the club and looked right and left trying to find Angel. She couldn’t have gotten far because she was walking. Unfortunately, I had no idea which way she could’ve gone. I was still standing on the street trying to figure out which direction to go in when Nick and Kelly came out of the club.
“Where is she?” asked Kelly looking at me.
“I don’t know,” I told her. “What happened anyway?”
“Don’t you know?” asked Kelly sarcastically.
“How would I know? I wasn’t there,” I said.
“Well you always seem to know everything that goes on with Angel, I figured that you knew this time too,” said Kelly shrugging.
“No I don’t know, so will someone please tell me?” I asked.
“I asked Angel out earlier today and she told me that she had a boyfriend and couldn’t go out with me. Then I saw her at the club and asked where her boyfriend was. She told me that he was sick with the flu. Then Kelly dragged her off to the bathroom and when they came back Kelly told me that Angel doesn’t have a boyfriend and then she left Angel and me to talk. I asked Angel why she lied and she said she had to go and ran out of the club,” explained Nick.
“Yeah, and while we were in the bathroom I asked Angel why she lied to Nick and she told me it was complicated, now will you please tell me why it’s complicated because I know that you know,” added Kelly and both her and Nick waited for me to answer. What was I supposed to say? I couldn’t tell them the truth; Angel would kill me.
“I…um…can we discuss this later? First we have to find my sister,” I said carefully dodging the question.
“Fine, but both of you have some serious explaining to do after we find her,” agreed Kelly.
“Okay, so she could’ve either gone this way,” I said and pointed to the left, “Or this way.” I pointed to the right. “We’re going to have to split up to cover both ways,” I added.
“I’ll go right, you two go left,” volunteered Nick.
“You sure?” I asked.
Nick nodded. “Yeah, we can exchange cell numbers so that if one of us finds her that person can let everyone else know,” he said.
Kelly and I agreed. I gave Nick my cell phone number and he gave me his. “Okay, we can meet back at my house in an hour and a half. You have a car?” I asked Nick.
“Yep, got it covered,” said Nick nodding.
“Okay, let’s go,” said Kelly and we went our separate ways.

AN HOUR LATER
Nick’s point of view

I was driving slowly and carefully looking for any signs of Angel. Didn’t see any. I really hoped that she was okay because it was easy to get lost in that part of town, the streets were pretty confusing, even to me, and I had lived there for a long time. I looked at my watch. In a half an hour I was supposed to meet Drew and Kelly back at Drew’s house. I hoped that they would find Angel, or I would. But so far, there was no phone call from them, which meant they hadn’t found her. I turned onto yet another street and drove slowly. The street was totally empty. I sighed and headed for the main street that would take me to Drew’s house.
I got there thirty-five minutes later and saw that the lights were on.
“Did you find her?” asked Kelly as soon as she opened the door for me.
I shook my head. “No sign of her, I’m guessing you didn’t have better luck,” I said walking into the living room. There I saw Drew pacing back and forth.
“Nope, we have no idea where she is,” said Kelly sighing and sat down.
“Why isn’t she answering, I don’t understand,” mumbled Drew.
“Answering? Huh? Does she have her cell phone with her?” asked Kelly.
“No, the phone’s at home,” replied Drew distractedly.
“So how can she answer?” asked Kelly, now confused.
“That’s just it, she’s not,” said Drew frustratingly.
“Anyone else completely confused here?” I asked.
“Yeah, me,” said Kelly. “Drew, what are you talking about?” she asked.
“It’s a twin thing,” he said.
“What, do you have ESP or something?” I asked with a short laugh. Drew didn’t laugh; he just looked at me with a serious expression on his face and kept pacing. “Oh come on, you’re kidding right?” I said.
“No I’m not,” he stated.

Angel’s point of view

Okay, I was lost. Really lost. I had absolutely no idea where I was. All the streets looked completely unfamiliar and I had a feeling that I was not going in the direction of my house, I was probably moving away from it instead. I was alone and getting scared. It was definitely time to ask for Drew’s help.
Drew! I called out and listened for his answer.
It came immediately. ANGEL! Where the hell are you? We’ve been looking all over for you!
I’m sorry; I just needed to think. But I’m lost; I have no idea where I am or how to get home.
Tell me where you are and I’ll come and get you. I told Drew the street I was on and he told me not to go anywhere. I listened. About a half an hour later I saw him pull up in our car. He quickly got out and hugged me tightly.
“Do you have any idea how worried I’ve been?” he exclaimed. “You didn’t answer me and I was beginning to think that you weren’t able to,” he said with fear in his eyes.
“I’m so sorry, I’m so sorry,” I kept repeating.
“Come on, let’s go, you have a lot of explaining to do,” he said leading me back to the car.
“But I already explained to you,” I told him.
“Not to me, to Nick and Kelly, they’re back at our house and anxious to hear some answers,” replied Drew and started the car.
“Oh, great, how am I supposed to tell them why I lied to Nick?” I said sighing.
“Why don’t you try the truth?” suggested Drew.
“Yeah right, and have my best friend and the guy I like run out of the house never to be seen again? I don’t think so,” I said shaking my head.
“You have any better ideas?” asked Drew.
“No, but I’ll think of something,” I said thoughtfully. I didn’t like lying to either Nick or Kelly, but I had no choice.

A HALF AN HOUR LATER

“Ang!” exclaimed Kelly as I came through the door.
“Hey,” I replied with a small smile while Kelly hugged me tightly.
“Do you have any idea how worried we were?” asked Kelly.
“Um, I have a pretty good idea,” I said nodding.
“I’m glad that you’re safe,” said Nick and gave me a quick hug. But that quick hug was enough to get my heart racing.
“Yeah, me too,” I said barely getting the words out.
“So why did you lie?” asked Kelly bluntly.
“Because I didn’t want to get involved into another relationship,” I told her. It was partly the truth, partly.
“What do you mean?” asked Nick.
“I’ve had very bad luck with guys in the past and I didn’t want to get hurt again,” I replied.
“Why have you had bad luck?” asked Nick once again.
“I don’t know,” I said and shrugged. Okay, so I did know, but I wasn’t about to tell him.
“I would never hurt you,” said Nick sincerely and I wished that I could believe him.
“That’s what they all said,” I stated.
“But I mean it,” insisted Nick.
“So did they, at the time,” I said.
“Angel, why won’t you give me a chance?” exclaimed Nick in frustration.
“Because I know how it will turn out!” I shot back.
“No you don’t!”
“Yes I do!”
“Guys, cool it,” said Kelly to both of us.
I took a deep breath. “Okay, she’s right, we should both calm down,” I said calmly.
“Yes we should, and maybe we can talk privately?” suggested Nick.
“Yeah, sounds good,” I replied and led him to the kitchen. We sat down on a couple of chairs and waited for the other person to start talking. We sat in silence for about five minutes.
“Angel, listen to me,” said Nick breaking that silence. He looked straight into my eyes. “I would never want to hurt you, and I believe that I never will. I feel something between us that is different and special, don’t tell me that you don’t feel it too because I know that you do. I want to see if this thing between us can turn out to be the best thing that can happen to both of us. Don’t you want that too?” he asked and waited for me to answer.
“Nick, you have no idea how much I want that,” I told him, and I meant it. “But I keep thinking of my past relationships, and how they turned out, I can’t help but think that this might turn out the same way,” I said.
“But how can you say that when you don’t even know me?” he asked angrily.
“You don’t know me either and you’re thinking that we’re meant to be together,” I retorted.
“I know you, I know that you’re sweet, beautiful, honest, funny, kind, and one of the best people I have met in a long time.”
“You got all that just from a conversation with me?”
“That and more. Please give me a chance.”
I was battling my heart and my head. I didn’t know what to do. I wanted to be with Nick so badly that it hurt, but at the same time I kept reminding myself that I was different and if Nick ever found out about my ‘gifts’ then he would just run away, just like all those other guys.
I thought about the whole situation for a good ten minutes while Nick sat patiently and waited for my answer. I finally made a decision. “Okay, I’ll give us a chance,” I told him and a huge smile broke out on his face.
“Yes!” he exclaimed and picked me up off of the chair and spun me around the kitchen.
“I’m guessing you’re happy,” I said laughing when he put me down.
“Unbelievably,” he said grinning and brought his lips closer to mine. Before I knew it, I felt the best kiss of my entire life.

A WEEK LATER
Nick’s point of view

“So why are you so happy lately?” asked Howie. Me and the rest of the guys were in the studio working on a new song we were hoping to put on our next album.
“Well, it’s a wonderful day, I have a wonderful girlfriend, and life is just wonderful,” I said with a huge grin on my face.
“Uh huh, okay, whatever you say,” said Howie nodding.
“When’s Angel getting here?” asked Kevin.
I looked at the clock on the wall. “In about a half an hour,” I told him.
“And I bet you can’t wait to see her,” said AJ with a mischievous grin on his face.
“You bet correctly,” I replied and took a sip of my water.
“So it’s going well between you two?” asked Brian.
“Very, I’m so glad she changed her mind and decided to give me a chance,” I said and sighed contentedly.
“You think she might be the one for you?” asked Howie.
“I don’t know, but I have a very strong feeling that she is. It’s just the way I feel when I’m with her, I can’t explain it,” I said.
“Well, we’re all happy for you man,” said Kevin grinning.
“Thanks,” I said and looked at the clock again. I couldn’t wait to see Angel.
Five minutes later we were all told that we were done for the day and were free to go. I bolted out of the studio anxious to meet Angel half way.

Angel’s point of view

I was walking to the studio as fast as I could. I came out a little late and I really wanted to see Nick so I was hurrying. I was very happy that I gave him a chance. My life had been pure bliss since that moment that we kissed. He was exactly what had been missing in my life all along. Frankly, I couldn’t imagine my life without him even though we had only been going out for a week.
I was about five minutes away from the studio when I heard someone call out my name. I turned around and saw Nick on the other side of the street. He waved and I waved back smiling at him. He grinned and immediately started crossing the street, straight into the path of an oncoming truck.
