On the morning of Tuesday September 11, 2001, the world as we know it was forever changed. At a time when about half the US was still asleep, safe and sound in their beds, a great tragedy occurred that will forever change us.
The attack on the twin towers and the Pentagon as well as the plane that crashed in Pennsylvania has left hundreds, even thousands of innocent people dead. The death toll from the four planes alone was over 250.
Our sense of security was been forever changed. We used to be able to think that we were invincible but Tuesday's attack showed us that we are not.
Everyone in this country is affected by what has happened here. If not directly, then indirectly by all that has happened. Personally, I was directly affected by what took place on Tuesday. My family had a close call in Tuesday's tragedy. My cousin, who works in the Pentagon, happened to be on duty and in the building when it happened. Luckily, he was fine. It took 9 hours from the time that I first heard about the whole thing till the time that I found out that my cousin was ok. I know how people were and still are feeling when they don't know where their friends and family members are and if they are ok.
There is one song right now, besides all of the patriotic songs, that seems to really fit at the moment. It is called One Heart and it is sung by O-Town.
One Heart by O-Town
As I close, I would like to leave you with this one thought that I came up with the other day. The thought: One moment of tragedy can wipe out millions of moments of joy and happiness in an instant.
