Child of Darkness Part 2

“So Rok, You sure told Kevin to come?” AJ asked his friend.

Brian nodded his head in exasperation. “Yeah, Bone, he said he would meet us here. He...uhhh...wasn’t ready when I came to get him.” he replied.

The four Backstreet Boys were sitting at the bar waiting for their friend to arrive. Nick took a sip of his drink and glanced towards the door of the club as someone walked in. Almost immediately the newcomer was surrounded by a group of five or six girls, blocking Nick’s view of him. *Hmmmm...that guy sure is popular,* Nick thought to himself. *He looks familiar though.* The stranger was finally able to break away from the girls and the blonde singer was finally able to get a good look at his face.

“Uhhh, guys?” he said, batting Howie’s arm.

“What is it Kaos?” replied Brian.

“Kevin’s here,” Nick nodded in Kevin’s direction.

Kevin spotted the guys and strode towards the bar. He was dressed in tight black pants and a loose fitting black shirt that he had left partially undone.

“Hey there Kev, we were beginning to think ya weren’t gonna show,” AJ declared.

Kevin grinned, revealing his pearly white teeth. “Yeah, well, sorry I’m late.”

A few hours later, Brian sat at the bar, silently studying his cousin as he danced on the dance floor. Kevin’s movements were smooth and graceful.

He was worried. His cousin had changed too much since yesterday.

*His skin is so much darker than it was,* he thought to himself. *And he has always been a good dancer, but never that good.*

“Yo Rok, you gonna come dance with us?” AJ asked. When Brian didn’t answer, he waved his hand in front of his face. “Earth to Brian, come in Brian!” His efforts got him nowhere. AJ decided to try a different tactic. He leaned over and, as loud as he dared, yelled, “B-ROK!”

Brian jumped up, startled. “Wha-?!?!?” Dammit Bone! Don’t do that!” he cried.

AJ grinned. “Yeah, well, what has gotten you so interested taht you do not even notice me speakin’ to ya?”

Brian remained silent.

“Bri?”

Finally Brian spoke up. “It’s Kev,” he told his friend.

AJ looked over at his older friend. “Yeah? What about him?” he questioned.

“Doesn’t he seem different to you?”

AJ shrugged. “I haven’t really noticed,” he confessed. “Why?”

Brian shook his head at his friend. “Look at him AJ. His skin...It’s so tanned.”

Now it was AJ’s turn to shake his head. He failed to see what Brian was making such a big fuss about. “Maybe he went tanning Bri,” he commented. Then he jokingly added, “Not everything is a government conspiracy you know.”

“Yeah, maybe, but even the way he moves. It is so graceful.”

AJ turned and looked over at Kevin. After he had studied for a minute, he turned back to Brian. “Okay, so he got really smooth overnight. That’s no reason to-”

“That’s not all Bone,” Brian interrupted. “I’m obviously the only one who noticed his eyes.”

AJ looked at his friend, his curiosity piqued. “What about them?” He asked.

“Nothing AJ. Just do me a favor and look at his eyes later, okay? I’m really worried.” With that Brian got up from his seat and walked onto the dance floor.

AJ shook his head. “Weird...” he muttered to himself. Then he stood up and went to find Kevin, who had disappeared, his conversation with Brian running through his head.
