Kevin woke up lying on the bed in his hotel room.
*What the hell?* he thought. *How’d I get here?*
He tried to remember where he was last night, but his efforts were only rewarded by a dull, throbbing headache.
Standing up, he walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. Kevin stood there for an hour and let the hot water run over his spiky black hair and down his body.
Wrapping a towel around his waist, he climbed out of the shower. Suddenly he fell back in shock as he looked into the mirror.
He was different. His skin was deeply tanned and completely flawless, and his already well-defined muscles stood out even more. And his eyes...Kevin leaned closer and stared at them in the mirror. They were a deeper green than before, and had a predatory sparkle in them. His eyelashes seemed to be more ful and framed his eyes perfectly.
Kevin shook himself out of his reverie. “I must have been drinking too much yesterday,” he thought to himself.
Suddenly he heard a knock on the door. “Coming Brian!” he immediately called out. Kevin stopped in his tracks. *How the hell do I know it’s him?*
He shook himself and opened the door. Sure enough, there stood his cousin, dressed to go clubbing. “Hey there Kev! You ready to go yet?” Brian asked him enthusiastically.
“Uhhh...Go where Bri?” Kevin asked confused.
Brian looked at his cousin incrediously. “Earth to Kevin! Remember? We were gonna go to that new club with the guys!”
“Oh yeah. I forgot about that....”
Brian rolled his eyes. “Yeah well, you ready yet?” Taking in the towel that was wrapped around his cousins waist, he added, “No, I suppose you aren’t.”
Kevin shook his head. “I’ll meet you there, okay?”
Brian nodded in acknowledgment.
On his way to the club, Brian could not shake the feeling that there was something different about his cousin. Something that was almost dangerous...

After Brian had driven off, Kevin slid down to the floor, his head pounding. Suddenly he cried out in pain and clutched his stomach as a tremor of agony sliced through his body. After what seemed like a millennium, the feeling eased.
“What is happening to me?” Kevin hissed to himself.
Pushing himself to his feet, he forced himself to go and get dressed.
