Richard and Lexi got back to the Radisson Hotel and got checked into their single rooms. There was one suite left, but neither of them wanted it since they would only be there one night.
Lexi fell asleep immediately after she laid down on the bed and didn’t wake up until around 4 in the afternoon. She sat in her room channel surfing for almost two hours. She had to have picked up her cell phone at least a dozen times wanting to call JC or wanting JC to call her.
Finally, she couldn’t take being in that room any longer. She dug through her luggage to find her bathing suit, put it on, and went to the pool. She swam around for a little bit but wasn’t much in the mood, so she ended up sitting in the hot tub for almost an hour.
When it began to get dark, Lexi realized how long she’d been in the Jacuzzi. She went back to her room and took a shower. She ordered room service and just as she was finishing blow drying her hair, her cell phone rang.
“Hello?” she answered as she tightened her bathrobe.
“Hey.”
“Hi…”
“I went to your place, but you weren’t home yet. Where are you?”
“Still in LA.”
“Why?” he asked in a stern voice.
“We missed out flight. I’m coming home tomorrow morning.”
“Oh, I see.”
There was dead silence for several seconds. Then, out of no where JC said, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have gotten so angry. I just got so mad when you said that you…”
“No, I’m sorry. I don’t know what I was thinking. I was just so scared about everything…”
“Look, Lex, I do want to put all of this behind us. I just can’t apologize enough for getting so mad. I mean from what you’ve told me, that’s what Matt was like, and I in no way want to be like him.”
“Josh, don’t even go there. It’s ok. It was partly my fault…God, I wish I was there.”
“Me too.”
“I can’t believe that I’m not gonna be there until the end of Valentine’s Day.”
“I know, but we’ll just have to make the best of it.” He paused. “So what are you doing this lonely night?”
“Just sitting in my hotel room waiting for room service to come. You?”
“I’m sitting in my living room, eating cold pizza, watching ESPN on mute, and wishing you were here next to me. Actually just before I called I was just at your condo.”
“I’m sorry about that. I should have called and told you.”
“Don’t even worry about that.”
Knock knock knock!
“That must be room service. Hold on.”
“Ok.”
Lexi put down her cell phone on the bed and answered the door. He led the waiter inside and signed for her meal. She sat back down on the bed and picked up her phone. “You still there?”
“Yeah, I’m still here.”
She was about to begin eating when she noticed a soft scratching coming from her door. She got up and walked closer to the door, and began to get kind of scared. She opened the door quickly to see JC standing there wearing a brown sweater and jeans with a bag over a shoulder and his cell phone pressed to his ear. She stared at him in shock. “How…? I don’t…?”
JC smiled, took the cell phone from Lexi, and turned it off. He did the same to his and set them down on the floor with his bag. “I talked to Richard, and we straightened things out. I’m sorry I acted the way I did.”
Lexi still couldn’t believe that JC was standing in front of her. She blinked a couple times in silence not knowing what else to do. She then flew into his arms giving him a hug. He rested his chin on her shoulder inhaling the scent of her freshly washed hair.
“I’m so glad you came,” she said still embracing him.
“I’m glad I thought of it,” he replied slowly moving his head so they were face to face. “I also wanted to come so I could tell you something.”
“What is it?”
“Ok, here it goes…I love you.”
A huge smile spread across Lexi’s face. “You do?”
“Definitely,” he said touching his forehead to hers.
“I love you too.”
JC smiled and brought his and up to Lexi’s cheek. He gave he a deep kiss as he ran his fingers through her hair. She kissed him back just as passionately while her hands grasped his strong back.
He gradually walked her backwards towards the bed. The bed hit the back of her knees, and she stopped. JC lifted her up, gently placed her on the bed, and laid down next to her. He began to kiss her neck as she went to take off his sweater. He finished pulling the garment over his head and threw it on the floor. He ran his hand over her body and eventually got to the tie on her white, terrycloth bathrobe. He slowly untied it with one hand and opened her robe. He ran his hand over her exposed torso exploring what he had once seen but never touched.
Lexi in return went to unbuckle the belt around JC’s waist, and then unbuttoned his pants. He helped slip them off as he kissed her chest and softly massaged her hip and shaven leg. He helped her take off the already opened bathrobe and threw it on the floor next to the already discarded sweater and pants.
“Are you sure you want to do this?” he asked still delicately kissing her lips.
“Absolutely,” she whispered back.
“Hold that thought…”
JC got up from the bed, walked over to his bag, and rummaged through it. Lexi wondered why in the world he would get out of bed to look through his bag as she got under the covers. He came back with a black velvet box and sat on the bed.
“What’s this?”
“Your Valentine’s Day present.”
“Josh, you didn’t have to do that.”
“Just open it,” he grinned.
Lexi opened the box to reveal a silver chain with half of a heart hanging from it. “It’s beautiful! But where’s the rest of it?”
JC reached into the pocket of the jeans on the floor. “I have the other half, so where ever you go you know that you’ll always have a part of my heart,” he said brushing a hair away from her face.
“Did you rehearse that?”
“No,” he laughed.
“Well it was perfect,” she said kissing him. He turned off the light and slipped off his Calvin Klein boxer-briefs. He got under the covers with Lexi, and they made love for the first time.
