Chapter Three

Lexi stirred from her sleep almost forgetting where she was, however when she opened her eyes she was surrounded by floral prints and dark woods…she was in LA. She got out of bed and went into the bathroom to wash her face and brush her teeth. With her toothbrush still in her mouth, she poked her head out of the spacious bathroom to see what time it was. Without her contact lenses see couldn’t make out the numbers of the digital alarm clock next to the bed, so she reached into her jewelry box on the table next to the sink and pulled out her watch.

“Twelve o’clock!?”

Lexi couldn’t believe that both she and Richard had overslept. She ran into the bedroom and pulled on a pair of jeans and a tank top. As she sat down on the bed to call Richard’s room her eyes grazed the alarm clock. “9:05?” She had forgotten about the three-hour time difference there was between Florida and California.

She hung up the phone, fixed the time on her watch, and went to sit down on the sofa in the living area. She went to reach for the remote control to turn on the television when she heard her cell phone beep across the room. She know that beep meant that she had a new voicemail, but she didn’t remember her cell ringing.

She connected to her voicemail and felt awful as she listened to JC’s message. She immediately called JC’s cell phone to leave him a message since she knew that he was on his way to New York and wouldn’t be able to answer it. She had some more thinking to do before she talked to him live.

”Wussup, sorry I missed your call, but drop me a line and I’ll get back to ya.”

BEEEP

“Hey, Josh, it’s me. I’m sorry I didn’t get a chance to call you when I got in last night. I literally got to the hotel and fell right into bed. I have a photo shoot today around noon, so I don’t think I’ll be able to talk to you today unless it’s late at night. Um, tomorrow I have a meeting with the people who are doing my video, but I’m gonna try to get to a TV so I can see ya on TRL. I’m at the Radisson in LA, and the number here is 213-748-4141 room 1020. So I guess I’ll talk to you later. I miss you. Bye.”

After she left her message she listened to the one JC left her, again. She couldn’t believe that she had all those negative thoughts about their relationship before. Everything would be fine, and she wasn’t going to change anything about what was going on between them. Whatever happened happened. They would just have to talk about keeping their relationship secret from the public until the time was right.
