Eight months later...

“So what do you think our chances are?” JC whispered into Lexi’s ear.

“Hmm…considering we didn’t write the song for the movie, we’re two pop singers…I’d say slim to none.”

“Oh, thanks for being such a pessimist.”

Lexi laughed. “Oh c’mon, Josh. Do you actually think we’re going to win?”

“Stranger things have happened.”

“Yeah, for one we’re sitting at the Oscars.”

In September JC and Lexi were approached about having their song be the ending track to “Love of My Life,” a movie starring Julia Roberts and Ben Affleck. They accepted immediately. They didn’t expect much to come from it, but the movie did extremely well and was nominated for six Academy Awards. So now JC and Lexi were sitting amongst the greatest actors listening intently.

Madonna emerged on the stage and stood in front of the podium. “A movie’s main song says a lot about the movie. It should fit the point of the entire movie into a nutshell, and we can tell when a song and a movie go perfectly hand in hand. The nominees for Best Original Song are: “Dreams” from the film Dream Song lyrics by Jack Thomas, “Happy Holidays” from the film Christmas in New York lyrics by John and Mack Winterburg, “Fate” from the film Too Good to Be True lyrics by Diane Warren, and “Till There Was You” from the film Love of My Life lyrics by JC Chasez and Lexi Morrow.”

Lexi and JC squeezed each other’s hands as Madonna opened the envelope.

“And the Oscar goes to…JC Chasez and Lexi Morrow, ‘Till There Was You’!”

JC and Lexi stood up in shock, hugged, and walked to the stage. They each hugged Madonna and JC took the Oscar as Lexi spoke.

“Wow…umm…wow…I guess first I’d like to thank JC for starting this song and writing it with me. Warner Brothers for asking us to use this song for a great movie. Just wow, I’m speechless. Thanks!”

JC approached the mike. “I’d like to thank the Academy for picking us, and I’d like to thank God for leading me to Lexi, the love of my life, and allowing us to make such beautiful music together,” he said looking at Lexi. “Thank you.”

The audience laughed and applauded as Lexi and JC walked off stage.

“I can’t believe you said that! Our managers are gonna kill us!” she said smiling.

“It’s ok,” JC said taking her hand and walking. “I wanted the entire world to know that no matter how much success we have, I didn’t have anything till there was you.”

Go home! It's over!
