Chapter 4

Three months later it was the beginging of December. Over these few months Lexi had recorded about 15 songs, and was starting the process of narrowing it down to the 13 that would appear on her debut album. She had also had the chance to perform at the House of Blues to promote some of her songs along with several other performers.

She and Matt celebrated their one-year anniversary in September, but they started drifting further and further apart. With Matt’s constant traveling and Lexi’s recording they only saw each other once a week, if they were lucky.

Lexi began looking for her own place, and she and JC got closer. They had become close friends over a short period of time, and once a week they found the time to go to Lone Star Steakhouse and Saloon, no matter what.

The first Wednesday of December, Lexi and JC were sitting in their regular booth at Lone Star, as usual, when Lexi begain humming.

“Hm hm hm..hmhm hm….”

“What’s that?” JC asked.

“I’ve had this melody in my head for a few days now. Matt says it’s annoying, but I just can’t get ride of it!” Lexi said annoyed.

“Hum it for me again.”

“Now? Why…?”

“Please,” Josh begged with a puppy dog face. Lexi sighed and hummed the 7 second melody again. JC nodded in satisfaction.

“You thought of it yourself?” Josh asked.

“I guess so. If I had a little more I could write a song!” Lexi joked.

“Yeah…you could.” JC responded thoughtfully.
