Chapter Two

The next night Lexi and her roomates, Nicole and Jennifer, were sitting in their living room watching tv and talking.

“So how was that party last night, Lex? We never had a chance to talk to you about it!” said Nicole.

“It was great! It’s just so unbelievalbe. I just don’t see myself signed to a record label!’

“Why not?” Jennifer said shockingly. “You have an amazing voice, and you’ve been wanting to do this for ever and a day! What could possibly be wrong with that?!”

“Nothing’s wrong with it, Jen. I’ve just wanted this for so long, and it’s finally happening. I just can’t believe it!”

“Well ya better get used to it ,chica, because you’re going to make it big…I can feel it,” Nicki said smiling. “So anything else exciting happen?”

“Well,” Lexi began. “I met one of the producers for my CD…”

“Ok... so who was it?” Nicki asked.

“JC Chasez.”

“Right…and that would be…” Jen pushed.

“The cute brunette from *NSYNC,” Lexi responded.

“Omigawd! Are you serious? Lexi, he is so hot!” Nicki screamed.

“Believe me, I know, but it’s simply a business relationship. Besides, I do have a boyfriend if you guys don’t remember.”

“Oh who could forget the flawless Matt: handsom, athletic, smart…” Nicki swooned sacrastically.

Jen interruped, “We’re not saying to cheat on Matt. We’re just saying that JC is hot. End of story.”

“Hey,” Lexi said changing the subject. “You guys want some ice cream?”

“Yeah, but who wants to make an ice cream run at 9 o’clock at night?” said Nicki.

“I will,” Lexi said. “I feel like going for a drive. Besides, Publix is open until ten.”

“Ya sure?” Jen asked.

“Yeah. I’ll be right back.”

Lexi put on her shoes, grabbed her keys, and left the condo. Within 3 minutes she was in the supermarket parking lot. She went straight to the frozen food section and selected two types of ice cream. She then decided that since she was there she should pick up some other things. With basket in hand, she headed towards the soda aisle.

As she ran her eyes over the selections of soda, she noticed someone standing in the aisle as well. She glanced in the stranger’s direction, and then looked away. However, when she got a better look she realized who this person was.

“JC?”

The man was surprised, but then was relieved to see Lexi’s familiar face.

“Lexi! Nice to see you again!”

“I told you I would call you JC the next time I saw you.”

JC laughed, “That you did. So what are you doing grocery shopping at nine at night?”

“Oh, I’m just making an ice cream run for my roomates and me. You?”

“It’s just safer to shop at night. Better chance of not running into fans.”

“I see,” Lexi responded.

“You’ll know what that’s like all in good time. Ya know, I listened to your demo...you have an unbelievable voice.”

Lexi blushed. “Thanks.” She never knew what to say when she got complimented on her voice.

“So do you write any of your own songs?”

“Actually yeah,” Lexi responded. “I’ve written about…eleven, twelve? The two songs on my demo I wrote myself.

“Music too?”

“Music too.”

“Impressive. I’m glad to see a young female artist writing her own music. It gives me hope for the other feamle artists out there…almost.”

Lexi and JC laughed and started walking down the aisle.

“Speaking of young artists, exactly how young are you?” JC asked hesitantly.

“Well, I just had a birthday so that makes me…15,” Lexi resonded.

JC’s face froze, as he looked a Lexi in shock.

“Are you serious?” JC asked slowly.

“No,” Lexi said laughing. “I just turned 19 a couple weeks ago.”

JC laughed. “You had me goin’ there for a second. A couple weeks ago? When’s your birthday?”

“August 6th.”

“Mine’s the 8th. Leo power!”

“Leo power!” Lexi repeated giving him a hi-five. “Well I better get this ice cream back to my friends before they start beeping me. I’ll see you in the studio some time this week?”

“Definitely,” JC responded. “It was great seeing you again. I’m glad we had a chance to talk without the pressures of managers and all that other stuff.”

“Yeah, me too. I’ll see ya later. Oh wait, JC?”

“Yeah, Lexi?”

“What does JC stand for?”

“Josh Chasez.”

“Oh, ok. Later, Josh.”

“Later, Lexi”
