Chapter Eleven

JC sat on his bed with his head in his hands, and when he heard the shower across the hall go on he began pacing around his room. After about five minutes of doing this his phone rang. Startled, he answered it.

“H-hello?”

“Hey, JC…I’m reeaaally sorry to call you because I know that Lexi’s over there, but did we decide 11:30 or noon to meet for the Entertainment Tonight interview?” Justin said, feeling like he was interrupting.

“Oh. Um…noon.”

Justin continued to talk about something that had to do with the interview, but JC wasn’t listening to him. He wasn’t doing this on purpose, but he obviously had other things on his mind. Well, one other thing…

“JC? JC? JC!”

“What? Oh, sorry, Justin. I’ve just got some things on my mind…”

“Ya wanna talk about it?”

With that JC started to tell Justin what happened with Lexi. The entire time Justin’s reactions were bigger and louder than JC’s initial reactions were. Justin’s reactions all consisted of interjections such as “What!” “Are you fucking serious?” “You’ve gotta be shittin’ me!” When JC done telling him a condensed version of what happened, Justin was anything but speechless.

“I can’t believe he did that! What kind of psycho asshole is this guy?”

“I dunno, man. I dunno.”

“Well,” Justin said softening his tone, “Is she okay?”

“Yeah…considering what just happened, I think so.” Just then, JC heard the shower being turned off.

“Hey, man, I gotta go. I’ll see ya tomorrow around noon.”

“Later, man. Good luck.”

“Thanks, Justin.”

At about 9 o’clock, JC knocked on Lexi’s door.

“Come in.”

JC entered with his eyes closed and a small bag of ice and a pair of sweatpants in his hand.

“Are you decent?”

Lexi chuckled. “Yeah, I am.”

JC opened his eyes, walked into the room, and sat down on the bed next to Lexi. She was wearing an oversized UCF sweatshirt and the jeans she was wearing earlier. Even like this he still thought she looked beautiful. He quickly snapped out of his slight trance and handed her the sweatpants.

“I thought that you might want to wear these tonight.”

“Thanks.”

“…and I brought you some ice for your cheek.”

JC held her chin as he examined the left side of her face.

“It’s doesn’t look like it’s going to bruise. It’s just a little red.”

“A little red?”

“Yeah, well it’ll be better tomorrow morning. I’m gonna let you get some sleep. I’ll see you in the morning. Good night.”

JC kissed Lexi on the forehead as he got up and walked out the door closing it softly behind him. What was Lexi feeling for Josh, and why was she feeling it now of all times? Whatever. She didn’t want to think about this right now, so she changed into the sweatpants, got into bed, and with fifteen minutes she was sound asleep.
