Ok - We ALL know the story on how *NSYNC got together, but - I'm gonna tell it again just in case there is actually someone out there that doesn't know it - ok - here goes -
It all started with Chris Kirkpatrick. He wanted to start a band. So who did he go to? Lou Pearlman. (There's their first mistake ...) Anyway - Chris goes to Lou and they talk and Lou says that if Chris can get a band together then he'll be glad to help them. So Chris starts calling around asking for names, and can you guess what the only name he got back was? Justin Timberlake. Chris gave Justin a call and Justin immediately joined, he then mentioned to Chris that he had an old buddy from "The Mickey Mouse Club" who would be perfect - his name - JC Chasez. Justin called JC and he was in. They were all set to try it as a threesome - until one night at a club. Now here's where it can kinda get confusing - when JC moved to Olando for MMC, one of the first people he met was Joey Fatone. Now, Joey knew Chris from working at MGM Studios, Joey was doing Beetlejuice and Chris was singing in a group called the --- High Tones. OK- so JC knew Joey and Chris knew Joey and now JC knew Chris, but neither JC nor Chris knew that the other one knew Joey, until Chris, Justin and JC went to a club one evening. (Don't ask me how Justin got in - it still boggles me) The run into Joey after chatting for a while, they mentioned the group and asked Joey to join, he of course said yes. Lou Pearlman was all set to get them a deal as a quartet, but they knew that they needed something else - a bass voice. Joey tried, but it wasn't working too well. Jusitn called up an old vocal coach and she came back to him with James Lance Bass. He flew to Orlando from Mississippi with his parents who were skeptical about whether or not they would let him join, but once they heard the 5 of them sing together, they knew they had no choice. Now they just needed a name. One day during a practice session, Justin's mom - Lynn Harless - commented on how 'in synch' the boys were. They all thought the name was pretty catchy, and while Lynn was fooling around with their names for a logo, she discovered that the last letter of each of their first names spelt *NSYNC. Don't see it? JustiN ChriS JoeYLansteN (Lance's occasional nickname) and JC. And there ladies and gentlemen, is how our favorite group - aka *NSYNC - got together.
