Christina's Singles
When I first heard "Genie In A Bottle" I thought that the song was ok, but the girl that was singing it had an AWESOME voice. I later grew to become obsessed with the song and refered to my room as my "bottle". I bought the single and soon learned every word, and the girls name. Christina Agui - whata? Well, I soon learned who to pronounce it, and became a sorta-fan. When he CD came out, I didnt rush to buy it, but I did buy it, and lemme tell you - it is AWESOME! Although sometimes I dont think she is the prettiest thing in the world (Although sometimes I do think she is very pretty), I have to say that that girl can SING. Like really good, not just ok, I would give anything to sing like that. Well, I was obsessed with her Cd for a good month, then when she released "What A Girl Wants" I was kinda upset that it was different from what was on the CD. Eventually I grew to love the new version better. Then of course I had to buy the single. Then I got this obssesion with learning the dances to all the popular songs. In no time I learned a lot .. including "Genie In A Bottle".
On Sept. 6, 1999, the Disney Channel played re-runs of "The New Mickey Mouse Club" and needless to say I sat my butt down in front of that TV ALL day watching it. Mainly for *NSYNC, but I got a kick out of seeing Brit and Christina when they were young. My favorite part was when JC hit Christina in the face with a pie. I was laughing hysterically for like 10 minutes. Then later I rewound the tape and watch it over about a hundred times. It was priceless. But another thing I noticed was that even back then, Christina could sing. Then I went into my "She Can Sing So Good And I Cant So I'm Gonna Hate Her" stage, in which I said that I didn't like Christina, but when I think about it, I AM a fan of hers (someone slap me!) and if she did come to my area for a concert, I'd go.
When "I Turn To You" came out, I honestly could'nt care less. Its a pretty song, but it wasnt my favorite, even though it does show off her voice well. To tell the truth - I never even saw the video the whole way through. But I loved to sing along with it on the radio ... so what if I cant sing? Anyway - then "Come On Over Baby" came out, and once again it was remixed, once again I hated it and once again it grew to be my favorite song. I mean I am OBSESSED with this song. I just love the little "rap" part .... "Dont ya wanna be the one tonight? We can do exactly what you like."
And one other thing I like about her - she sings live. And you can tell. At the VMA's she held the microphone too far away from her face and ypou couldnt hear her. Britney SOOO lip-synched Oops! ... I Did It Again ... she did sing Satisfaction tho. But I have to say that I loved Christina performance at the VMA's. Two thumbs up!
