"Come in, Ashley. She'll be down soon. Can I get you something?" Liz, Kayla's mother asked him polietly.
"No, I am fine, but thank you, anyway, Mrs. Johnston." Ashley replied back, " I was hoping I could talk to you and Mr. Johnston for a moment before we left."
" Hi Ashley!" said Kayla's tweleve year old sister, Danni coming down the stairs. She tried not to laugh but it was obivious she had a crush on him. "Kayla will be down in a minute." she said quickly and ran back up stairs.
Ashley and Kayla's parents talked.
Three minutes later Kayla came down the stairs.
"Whoa!" Ashley exclaimed "You look beautiful!"
" Thanks." she replied giving a smile.

" Have fun, dear " Mr. Johnston said waving to his daughter, as the car drove away.
"I can't believe our little girl is so grown up!" he exclaimed, "Just, think dear, she's taking the next big step in her life tonite. I hope she says yes. I think Ashley is wonderful for her."

Later that night, Kayla and Ashley were having the time of their life. Dancing, talking, and partying.
" Just think, Ash. It's almost been a year since we met." Kayla said smiling.
"Yep." he repied." Can we go to my car, for a while, to you know be alone?"
"Ashley, no! I already told you, I'm not ready!" she replied gettin a little pissed off at him.
" No, hun, it's not for that. I just wanna be the last one to see you this year, and the first one to see you next year!" Ashley said, putting his arm around her.
" Oh, in that case, of course!" she said.

"It's mid-night, Ashley." she said with excitement in her eyes, knowing that this would be a better year for the both of them.
"Kayla, now that it's a new year, look up at the sky and the first star you see make a wish."
"Um....ok." she said.
As Kayla did this, Ashley reached into his pocket and reached for a little box. "Ok," Kayla said.
" I know what you wished for." Ashley said smiling.
"Hmmm?" Kayla asked confused.
"You wished that this would be a better year, for the both of us. You also wished we could become, closer."
"Ash! How'd you know?" Kayla asked him, giving a werid smile.
"Kayla I love you, I'v known you for almost a year, and I have to admit the best year of my life." Ashley said placing Kayla's hand in his. "Will you marry me?" Ashley asked.
Kayla was in tears. "Oh my gosh, Ash! Yes!" she replied.
He place the ring on her finger, and kissed her.
" See, Kayla," he said pulling away," you made my wish come true."
Kayla interrupted him, "and now you made mine come true, Ashley Parker Angel!"
