~*Chapter 14*~
....."Sorry Dad." "Wha-?" He was cut off right as he was raising his hand to hit her. Jacob and Mike held Ashley back. Angie kicked her dad in the stomach with her knee and pushed him out the front door, closing and locking it. When the two let Ashley go, he ran over and hugged Angelina. "Oh thank Godm Ashley. He's finally gone." "You were great Angie! And trust me, we wouldn't have let him touch you." "We?" She looked around as Mike and Jake came from around the corner. "Thanks for coming to check on me guys! You are such sweeties!" She was still shaking, but she gave each a hug and a kiss on the cheek. "I should call the police to pick him up. He was drunk when he drove over here, and I am not letting him drive drunk anywhere anymore." She walked over to the living room phone. She gave the police the information. "Mom!" She ran out to her mom's car as it pulled in the driveway. The guys watched as Ang told her mom about her dad and saw them both burst into tears and hug each other. Ashley sniffled. "Man, you gotta tell her." "I know, but she thinks of me as a lovable brother." "You never know. Maybe she feels the same." Mike exchanged looks with Jacob. "But her and Erik like each other, I could see it." "He liked her, for sure. But he decided not to go for her." "Why not?" "To give you half a chance, man!" Mike was laughing. "Shut up! I could get her, even if Erik was trying." "Really?" Now Jacob was laughing. The two walked aff towards their house, still howling like hyenas. He could still hear them saying "Erik - haha - trying - Ashley - hahaha - getting her!!!!" He frowned. Sure, he could. He ran over and hugged Angie and her mom. "You go on, Angie with Ash." Her mom held Ash back while Angie walked towards the guy's back porch. "Ashley, thank you so much for being there for Angelina every day of her life. She couldn't have survived without you. And you should tell her how you feel" - Ang's mom ignored Ashley's expression - "cause she feels the same. I can see it when she looks at you. Now go on, hon." She watched as her little girl's only love walked towards her and sighed. "My little baby. She's all grown now." When Ashley reached the porch, Angelina was watching the stars. "I love the stars. They are omnipresent - the never leave, or change much. Like something solid to lean on. Ash sat down and said "Hey Angie, can we talk?"
