"Umm, Ashley. You're plane has just come in."
"What are you…" Ashley's sentence trailed off as he looked up and saw Shelly running towards him. "Shelly?" She dropped all of her bags as she was running, and she leapt into his arms. He held her tightly.
"I can't believe you're here!" Ashley exclaimed overjoyed.
"Either can I!" Shelly replied with wide eyes. He felt like telling the world how he felt… so that's exactly what he did!
He let go of Shelly for 2 seconds, and threw his arms up in the air. "She's here! I can't believe she's here!" Practically everyone in the airport turned around to see what was going on, but Ashley didn't even seem to notice. He looked at her with wide eyes one more time and continued, "You're here! You're actually here!" The only thing her body would let her do, was frantically nod back at him. He gave her a big hug, which meant grabbing her tightly, lifting her off of her feet, and then spinning her in circles with him. Shelly was in tears by now, and everyone in the airport was clapping and cheering. Jacob was just standing back smiling, watching all of this happen.
Ashley let go of her for a second again (but he was, of course, still holding her hand tightly) and turned to look at Jacob. "How… but what… where?" Was all Ashley managed to get out.
Jacob just stood there smiling silently, and after a couple of seconds he finally spoke, "I have booked you a reservation at the Starlight Lounge, and there is a tux and a dress waiting in the limo I booked you." Ashley and Shelly stood there in awe.
"But why is she… how can you…thanks," Ashley finally spit out.
"You're welcome," Jacob said calmly still smiling. "Now go! You don't want to be late."
"Oh right! Thanks again sooooo much. I owe you so big," he said as he had stopped for a second while running out the door.
"Yeah, yeah, you do. But go!"
"Right!" Ashley helped Shelly gather up all of her bags and they left in the limo.
When they got to the Starlight Lounge, they were so happy to be together. They talked about everything under the sun (including how much they missed each other, and Shelly explained Jacob's plan).
"Well thank you for that amazing dinner," Shelly told him.
"Oh, you're welcome. But don't be thanking me. I didn't do any of this," Ashley explained. "You have Jacob to thank for everything."
"Well Jacob's a really great friend," Shelly told him.
"Yeah, he is, isn't he." Ashley sat there in thought, while a very cute smile spread across his face.
All of a sudden, the lights in the lounge turned low, and the romantic music came on. The disco ball fell from the ceiling, filling the room with sparkles of light.
Ashley and Shelly turned to look at each other. Each new what the other was thinking, provoking a smile that spread across both of their faces.
Ashley stood up and put his hand out to Shelly. "Would you care to dance, my lady?" He asked her with a broad smile, in a very 1940's fashion.
Shelly's grin grew even wider. "It would be my pleasure," Shelly replied as she put her hand on top of his. Ashley kissed her hand and then led her to the dance floor. He held her tightly, cheek to cheek, while they were both enjoying the moment.
"You don't know how happy I am that you are here," Ashley confessed.
"I do know… I feel the same way," Shelly replied. Ashley gently pulled her in closer as they danced.
Ashley began to sing something very quietly in her ear. "Would I walk through fire just to be with you, to be with you, yeah. Would I cross an ocean just to hold you." Shelly lay her head down on Ashley's shoulder as he continued to sing. "Would I give up all I have, to see you smile, to see you smile. Would I walk through Hell and not think twice." As Ashley sang this, he of course, hit every note perfectly. "Baby I would, baby I will, baby I'd do that gladly. Be all you need, do anything, to make you happy. Baby I could, baby I can, do anything you ask me," he stopped dancing and looked deep into Shelly's eyes. Ashley smiled at her, like only he can. She smiled back. He then said something, that meant so much to her. "Baby I can, baby I could, baby I would."
