Can't Fight The Feeling Chapter Six

When Aubrey got home, she went straight to bed. She was confused, and nervous. Why did she let Justin even start to do that to her? That had never happened before, she'd always had no problem telling a guy no. But not Justin. Something about him made it hard for her to say it. And what confused her most was that she wasn't even sure she wanted to say no.

The next morning, Aubrey woke up, and looked at the clock. It was already 10 am. She got up, and realized she was the only one home. As she was eating a bowl of cereal, the ringing of the phone startled her.

"Hello?" she said.

"Aubrey?" came the reply.

"Hey Jess," she answered, "What's up?"

"Nothin'! Hey, Joey called and asked if I wanted to go to the park. So we're going, and he's calling to see if Justin wants to come, and I was supposed to find out if you do. So do ya?" Aubrey hesitated, nervous to see Justin.

"Sure, when are you going?" she said, realizing Justin would never make her feel uncomfortable.

"2:30."

"Okay, I'm there."

"Alright, bye!" Jessica said excitedly.

"Bye."

Almost the second she hung up, the phone rang again.

"Yeah?" she asked.

"Hey hot stuff." It was Justin.

"What's up?"

"Do you want to go to the park with me, Joey, and Jessica?" he asked.

"Yeah, Jess just called me. Are we riding with them?"

"No," he began, "I'll pick you up around 2:00, if that's cool."

"Yeah, that's fine!" she answered.

In her room, Aubrey started digging through her dresser, looking for something to wear. It was cool out, but not freezing. She finally decided on a pair of dark jeans and a baby blue long-sleeved T-shirt. Just as she was brushing her hair, she heard a car horn. She ran to the kitchen, found a pen and a piece of paper, and scrawled a quick note, telling her parents where she was.

Running outside, she found Justin already on his way to the door. He smiled at her, and took her hand, leading her to the car. Opening the door for her, he told her he looked nice.

"Thanks, you do too." she replied. Once he was in the car, she asked what he thought they'd be doing.

"I don't know, but don't worry, we'll have fun."
