"I'm gonna head out. I'll see you guys later." Lance said, waving goodbye. Justin looked up and smiled.
"Alright man."
"Yeah, I think we're gonna go too." Chris added. Justin waved and smiled, as Chris took Dani's hand, and led her to the door.
Justin watched with envy as they walked
away together, smiling happily. Suddenly he thought
about Aubrey. It'd been over 2 years, since he'd
looked into those beautiful green eyes, and he wished
he had the guts to look for her. But he had no idea
where she was living, and even if he found her, she
would want nothing to do with him, after all the pain
he'd caused her.
"Can I call Jessica?" Joey's voice tore Justin
away from his thoughts.
"Uh, yeah, of course, go ahead." he told his friend. Joey picked up the phone, and sat down on the couch next to Justin. He dialed the number, and waited in silence. A few moments later, he spoke up.
"Hey baby, what's going on?" Justin heard Joey's voice soften when he spoke to his girlfriend. They talked for a while, and Justin quietly listened to their light, happy conversation. They didn't talk about anything in particular, yet the conversation seemed to be so important. At least it seemed that way to Justin. With every passing second, he become more resentful of their love. Why didn't he have that? He'd dated tons of girls since high school, but they never seemed right for him. He always found some flaw in their personality, or even in their looks. Why wasn't ANY girl just right? He knew there was no such thing as perfection. But then again, why was there this one girl he couldn't get off of his mind? Even after all this time? The one girl who DID seem to be perfect, in every possible way.
"MOMMA!" Ryan screamed, running toward the door,
as fast as his little legs could move
. "Hi handsome!" Aubrey said, scooping the blonde haired little boy up into her arms.
"Thanks Jamie." she told the baby sitter, and handed her her pay. Jamie smiled, and walked out. Aubrey sat down, hugging her son tightly.
"Did you have fun with Jamie?" she asked.
"Yup, we played wif tars!" he squealed.
"With CARS, honey." she told him gently.
"Yup, tars." he repeated with confidence that reminded Aubrey of his father. Many things he said reminded her of Justin. Not that it took much. She already thought of him constantly, although it was painful for her.
