Chapter 3

"So let me get this straight.  You met this totally hot guy and then he hit you in the ass?" Leslie questioned Nicole the next day, as she removed her shoes.  "And you did nothing?"

"No.  I slapped him across the face." Nicole said innocently.

"You seem to be doing that a lot lately," Leslie said, looking at Nicole while she walked to the refrigerator.  She grabbed a cherry coke and began to head in Nicole's direction.

"How'd you know about last night?  I don't remember you being there."

"Chris told me everything."

"I know I told you I would try, but…"

"Look…I would've done the same thing."

"Are you mad?"

"No.  All I have to say before I go to bed is…You kick booty girlie!" Nicole smiled and Leslie headed to her bedroom.  "Night, Nicole."

"Night."

"Hey Nicole?"

"Yeah?"

"Come here will ya?"

Nicole walked into Leslie's room.  "Yeah?"

She pointed to her bed.

"Who's it from?"

Leslie shrugged.

"Well open the letter then!"

Leslie picked up the piece of paper and unfolded it slowly.  She began to read to herself.

"What's it say?  What's it say?" Nicole asked impatiently.

"It says: Dear Leslie, I wasn't exactly sure how to tell you how I felt, so I wrote you this letter…even though it's pretty elementary.  Anyway…Along with this note was a CD and a rose.  If you listen to the CD, it'll explain how I feel about you. PS- Meet me at Java Central, off of 19th and Harrison, at 11:30.  I'll be wearing a black leather jacket.

Leslie and Nicole sat on the bed and listened to the song.  Leslie recognized it immediately.  It was "Crazy For You" by Madonna.

"Aww." Nicole said about three minutes later, after the song had ended.

"Should I meet him or not?"

"How do you know it's a him?" Nicole laughed at loud.  Leslie got a questioning look in her eyes, but it quickly left.

"Shut up!" She playfully hit Nicole.

"I was just joking."

"Seriously…should I go?"

"Yeah…I mean…he could be the guy you've always dreamed of…perfect…Mr. Right."

"Or he could be some sorta psychopath.  I mean, how did he get into our room?"

"Good question…That's kinda scary…But I still think you should go."

It was now eleven thirty seven as Leslie pulled up in front of Java Central. She took a deep breath before entering the coffee shop. She opened the door slowly and stepped in.  Leslie searched the shop for a man in a black leather jacket.  She saw him.  Her heart began to race and her palms became slightly moist.  Slowly, she approached the mystery man's table.  His back was to her as she stood silently behind him for a moment, the letter in her right hand and the white rose in her left.  Still standing behind him, she dropped the letter in front of him.

He watched as a piece of paper floated down from over his head.  It landed and he instantly recognized it as his note to Leslie.

Quickly, he turned around and found himself face to face with her.

She looked down into her mystery guy's eyes.  Immediately, she recognized them.  Those piercing blue eyes could only belong to one person.

"JC?  It's…it's you?" Leslie stuttered.

"You came!  I was scared you wouldn't show…You can sit down." JC said.

She sat sown in the seat across from him.

"Do you want something to eat or drink?" JC offered politely.

Leslie was silenced by her surprise.

"I should probably explain."

She nodded in agreement…for a moment.

"It's you…it's…it's just like…YOU." Was all she could say.

"Well, ever since the first time I saw you, I've thought you were the most beautiful girl I've ever seen.  Then, when we started touring and hangin' out and stuff, I felt this connection between us.  And now, my feelings go so much deeper than friendship."

"What are you trying to say, JC?"

"Leslie, I'm falling in love with you."

"What?"

"I'm falling in love with you." He repeated, slower this time.

"I don't know what to say."

"I don't expect you to feel the same way or anything, but I thought I should tell you the truth."

"I'm not sure what my feelings are toward you.  They've always been all mixed up, and I'm still trying to decode them."

"If you want, I could help you try to figure them out."

"And how's that?"

"Here," he stated, standing up. He took her hand and pulled her to stand in front of him. She felt a little shock surge through her when their skin made contact. He must've felt it too, because he pulled his hand back abruptly. "This is how." He rested his hands on her shoulders for a moment, then ran them down her arms until they reached her hands. Not once did their eyes leave each other's. Lifting her hands, he placed her arms around his neck. He wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her closer.

"JC, what are you doing?" Leslie asked.

"Just wait," he said almost in a whisper, "I'm not done."

"You're not?" She asked quietly, staring at his lips, which seemed to be slowly moving closer to hers every second.

"No," he whispered just before he kissed her. His head tilted to the side to get a better angle and deepened the kiss.

JC finally pulled away to see her reaction. Her eyes were still shut.

Is that a good sign? Because I definitely felt something. He thought. "Well?" JC asked impatiently after a minute.

"Wow!" she replied, finally finding her voice.

"Does that mean you felt it too?" He questioned with a hopeful voice.

Leslie answered by capturing his lips with hers in another powerful kiss. "I think…I'm falling for you, JC," she confessed when they pulled apart.

"So will you be my girlfriend?"

"I wouldn't have it any other way."

"I was hoping you would say that," he smiled and pulled a flat box out of his pocket. "I got you something."

"Oh, JC! You're so sweet. You didn't have to get me anything." She grabbed the box from his hands and opened it with eagerness. Inside, she found a white gold locket in the shape of a small heart with a small diamond in the center.

"I can take it back if you don't like it," JC offered nervously when she didn't react in any way.

"NO!" Leslie said quickly, louder than she meant to. "I mean, no. I love it."

"Open it."

She did so and found a picture of him on one side and one of the two of them on the other side.

"Here," he said taking the necklace from between her fingers, "I'll put it on for you." He moved her hair and clasped it together. Leslie turned around and kissed him.

"Thank you," she whispered and hugged him tightly. He hugged her back, "Anything for you."

12:54 AM

"Good night," Leslie said to JC as she was about to open the door to her and Nicole's hotel room.

"Wait," he stopped her.

She whipped around quickly. "Yeah, JC?"

He walked over to her and gave her a sweet good night kiss. "Night," he whispered as he held her in a tight embrace.

"G'night," She whispered back.

JC kissed her gently on the forehead and then walked away, continuing to look back where she stood. Leslie sighed a deep sigh of pleasure and satisfaction. She then entered her hotel room, where she was promptly bombarded with questions from her best friend.

"Who is he? Is he cute? Do I know him?"

"Slow down, Nicole."

"Well?"

"Well what?"

"What's he like?"

"He's probably the sweetest guy I have ever met. Not to mention, he's intelligent, funny, and a total babe!"

"You found all of this out in one hour?"

"No."

"But how'd you…"

"I knew him before this. You know him too."

"Who is it?"

"JC."

"JC? As in our JC? NSYNC JC? JC Chasez? Joshua Scott Chasez?" Nicole's eyes became wide.

"Exactly."

"In your dreams."

"Why would I make that up?"

"Because the guy who showed was a total loser, that's why."

"I'm telling you the truth," Leslie said. "I promise," she held her right hand up.

"Prove it."

"Okay," Leslie unclasped her new necklace and held it out for Nicole to see.

"What's that prove? Anyone could have given that to you."

Leslie opened the locket for her to see.

"Oh my God! You were telling the truth. That's gorgeous."

"I know,"

She and Nicole hugged and then quietly screamed.

"That's not all. He asked me out too."

"You said yes, right?"

"Of course."

"So what'd he say, what'd you say, what'd you two do? Fill me in on the 411." Nicole said quickly.

"Okay, well…" Leslie told Nicole every detail, right down to what color the tables were in the coffee shop.
