Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys (yes, we said the Backstreet Boys!) is getting ready to release a solo album, Back To Me, later this fall. With the lines between country and pop music being blurred more each day, Howie is hoping to reach across the pop boundaries to access as many music fans as possible.

“I believe a lot of mine and Backstreet Boys’ ballads could easily be crossed over in the country market,” Howie tells CountryMusicIsLove. “A lot of our previous songs were written by country writers but [were] then produced in a pop style. I believe country writers really write great songs from the heart.”

Howie tells us that before joining Backstreet Boys, he had a female duet partner and they “would sing all types of music, including country.” He says that he and his fellow Backstreet Boys members are “big fans” of both Rascal Flatts and Lady Antebellum. In fact, if Howie could duet with any country act, he’d choose either of them.

Like many musicians from different genres, Howie has spent time in Nashville writing music. He tells us that he feels “there is so much talent” in Music City and that he “loves the chilled out vibe” of Nashville.

Howie shared with us what all music fans can expect to hear on Back To Me.

“After 5 years in the making, this album is a true representation of where I am in my life right now. I am really blessed to have a lot of positive energy around me and a lot of good things happening in my life right now. I created an album that relects that energy. I have a lot of great pop/euro dance songs that make you wanna get up and have fun with life. For my true hard core Backstreet Boys fans, they will still recognize my sultry vocals on my ballads and mid tempos.

You can preview tracks from Back To Me now on Howie’s Facebook page. You can also follow him on Twitter and check out his website. Back To Me will be released next month and is available for pre-order now.
