Chapter 17

Two days later... It was 12 midnight. Nick stayed the whole night with Yvette holding her hand. A tear came down his face when he saw that she didn't wake up. "Baby, I love you so much... don't leave me alone..." Nick bowed his head and kissed Yvette's hand. "Don't leave me! I need you! I love you" Nick thought. "I love you too" Yvette thought She opened her eyes and saw Nick crying. With her free hand she reached over and pulled Nick's hair back. He straightened up and when he saw Yvette conscious a new wave of tears threatened his eyes. "I love you too" Yvette said wiping a single tear from Nick's face. Nick hugged Yvette and Yvette hugged Nick, what her poor health allowed her to. They stayed there until a nurse came by doing the midnight check. Nick lay on the bed next to Yvette as he kissed her goodnight and they fell asleep there until the next morning when Lydia found them. She took one look at them sleeping on the same bed (it didn't matter that they were both fully clothed and Yve had and IV), turned around walked out of the room. A week later, Lydia was at the hospital's cafeteria looking for some breakfast. She was in line when she looked back. "Aren't you Yvette's mother?" Lydia turned around. Behind her was the nurse that had desk duty on Yvette's floor. "Yeah I am" "She's very lucky" the nurse said Lydia paid for her breakfast. "To be alive?" "No... because of her friends..." The nurse paid for her breakfast and walked with Lydia to a table. "Amaya, the girl, she's been here every day along with her boyfriend... the boy with all the tattoos and weird hair" "Really?" Lydia was surprised. "Yup" she said "but the other boy, Nick... I think, the blond boy... he's such a pretty boy... He's been there all day and night. Even Amaya brings him his food there. Never leaves her side" Lydia finished her meal and without another word hurried up back to the room and tapped the door. "Come in" Nick said from the inside. When she walked towards the bed she saw Nick sitting on a chair next to Yve and she was eating her breakfast. "Yve! How are you feeling honey?" Lydia asked "Fine" Yve said flatly "I'm going to go outside so that you can talk..." Nick said Yvette grabbed his hand. "No... stay here with me... please?" she said with puppy eyes. "Yeah young man, stay... I have to talk to you too" Lydia said. Nick sat down on the chair and grabbed Yve's hand. "Oh shit! What the hell is she going to tell us? I forgot to tell her about Nick... I can't let her yell at him by any reason..." Yve thought "Young man..." Lydia began "His name is Nick" Yve corrected. Lydia ignored her comment and proceeded. "... I don't allow Yvette Marie to have a boyfriend... she's extremely young to have one... -her voice was strict- but... I talked to a nurse and she told me that you were all the time with my daughter... that you stayed here day and night" "With all due respect ma'am... I love Yvette very much... she's the best thing that ever happened to me... and I never felt this way for any other girl..." Nick said firmly "Uh Oh, Now my mom's gonna scream and yell at him!" Yve thought. Lydia was surprised but at the same time she thought this was some kind of quick romance and it was going to end soon. "It's evident that you love Yvette... and that's why I'm going to give you an opportunity... I'm not very positive about the idea that Yvette has a boyfriend but I'm gonna try and get used to it" Lydia lied about this, she didn't want her daughter to be with Nick. She thought he was a bad influence for her. There was a smile appearing on Yve's face. Nick was in shock. "Mom... are you sure of what you're saying? Yvette asked "Yeah honey..." Lydia said with a fake smile. "Thank you mom!" Yvette said as she faced Nick. He hugged and kissed Yvette. "Now I'm going to go so you two can talk..." Lydia said "Thank you! Bye!" Yvette said "Bye" Lydia replied as she headed out the room. "I'm so happy!" Yvette said "Me too" Nick replied "You know what?" Yve said smiling "What?" "I heard you while I was in the coma..." "What did you hear?" Nick asked "I heard I love you a thousand times, and I heard you sing... but I didn't recognize the song." "Well... I was singing "Anywhere for you"" Nick said a little embarrassed. "Aww... how sweet... you don't know how much I tried to wake up... I kept thinking about you worrying about me. " "You know I love you... a lot ... but you scared me..." "Aww ... poor Nicky was scared... How can I make it up to you?" "Well" Nick said with a mischievous look "My lips hurt... a LOT" "Poor boy!" Yvette smiled, leaned down ,and kissed Nick when someone opened the door. "Yve!" Amaya said as she came in and hugged Yvette "... I mean... you scared the hell out of us" Nick and Yvette looked at Maya with this you-disturbed-us-look. "Oops... Sorry guys... Am I interrupting something?" Amaya asked. Nick and Yve nodded. Someone tapped gently on the door. "Come in!" Amaya said knowing who was tapping. The door opened and in paraded Kev, Carla, Alexandra, Howie, Brian, Krystel and AJ. They were quiet to not disturb Yvette. When they saw Yvette sitting up and blushing there was a collective sigh of relief. "Yvette!" Carla Alexandra and Krystel shouted almost at the same time. Everyone took turns hugging and talking to Yvette. They stayed all day with her. It was 8 PM when a nurse came in when she heard all the noise coming from the room "Guys, visiting hours are over... one of you is allowed to stay" Everyone stared at Yvette and Nick. Nick was seated at the end of the bed and Yvette (of course) was seated in the bed. "What?" Nick asked Everyone gave a cheesy grin. "You're definitely brainwashed!" Yve said "What makes you think that?" Alexandra asked innocently; "Look at you!" Yve said "Guys we have to go now..." Kev said "Are you coming with us?" AJ asked looking at Nick. "Do I have to answer?" Nick said "I don't think so" Carla replied. "let's go" Krystel said They guys said their good-byes to Yvette and Nick and headed out of the room. "I wanna go home too!" Yve whined "Don't worry... I'm gonna stay here with you" Nick said "I know... but I want my own room back" "You are pretty comfortable here... what's the problem?" "These pillows are killing me" "Come on" Nick said as he sat on the bed with Yvette and put her head on his chest and hugged her. "Better?" "Much better... Thank you" "Anytime" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Amaya and AJ were walking silently to the car. "Thank you" Amaya said "Thank you for what?" AJ said "For being there with me... just for helping me through the hard times... you're a great person to be with... when I was suffering for all the Yvette thing you were there for me and you helped me comfort Nick and I'll never forget that.." Amaya said smiling "Maya, you know I'll always be there for you... no matter what happens... you can always count on me... I love you" AJ said "Oh.. I love you too, Alex" Maya said as she put her head on his shoulder. "We have to tell Yve about the little scene Nick made the day she was brought" "What scene?" Amaya asked confused. "When he was yelling to the doctor he told him that he was going to marry Yve soon... don't you remember?" "Yeah... I remember now..." "I wonder how soon they are gonna marry. They never told us their dirty little secret" "Don't be so harsh on them! He told that because he wanted to see his girlfriend... that's all. but we have to tell Yve..." "I love you" AJ said as he kissed Maya. "I love you too" said Amaya giving AJ a quick peck on the cheek. They went to the car and stayed there for a while. "Baby?" AJ asked as he grabbed Maya's hand. "Hmmm..." Amaya replied "Do you love me like I love you?" "I think I love you more..." "I don't think so..." AJ pulled Amaya to the most passionate kiss they ever shared and they returned home. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- The next morning AJ and Amaya went to the hospital to see Yvette. When they tapped the door no one answered. "Maybe they are sleeping" Amaya said "Of course they are sleeping... but how can Nick sleep in that uncomfortable chair? He's not a good sleeper at all! "AJ remembered. "maybe..." "let's go in!" they said in unison. When they entered the room they saw Nick and Yvette sleeping peacefully on Yvette's bed. She was resting her head on Nick's chest. He had his arm around her back and she had her arm placed on his waist. "That's why" AJ said flatly. "Shh! Let them sleep... they look so cute together!" Amaya said "They always said I was fast but Nick won this time!" AJ said "I think they didn't do anything AJ! Look at them!" Amaya said as AJ began to laugh. Nick woke up by someone laughing. When he saw Amaya and AJ standing there he tried to get out of the bed as fast as he could and the only thing he did was land on the floor. Yvette woke up by the sound. "What is going on?" Yvette asked "Ouch!" Nick said "What happened to you?" Yvette asked laughing. "He.... fell from the bed... when he saw us here..." Amaya said in between laughs. "Did you hurt yourself?" Yve asked "No... I'll be all right as soon as I kill AJ!" Nick shouted as he ran through him They started fighting and laughing on the floor when a nurse came in. "Boys! This is not a place to be like this! Don't you remember this is a hospital? Next time I hear something going on in this room I'm going to call security!" the nurse shouted. "Sorry ma'am... we will not do it again" AJ said courteously. "You better…" the nurse answered as she slammed the door. "I haven't seen such an arrogant nurse like this one" Yve said They all sat down and talked for a while. Amaya and AJ were in the couch holding hands and Nick was on a chair next to Yve's bed. "So, guys... what happened while I was in the coma? Anything new between you two?" Yve said looking at Maya and AJ. "Nothing, just a little scene that Nick made when we brought you the first day" AJ said "What scene? What are you guys talking about?" Nick said confused. "What happened? I wanna know" Yvette whined. "Well the thing is that when the dr. came to me to talk about how were you doing I said I was your sis and that Nick was your boyfriend and the dr. didn't want to tell Nick how were you... so he began yelling that he was going to marry you very soon and that he must be called family too..." Amaya explained Yvette looked at Nick who was blushing really bad. "AW poor Nicky is embarrassed!" AJ said "Wow I never thought Nick would say that..." Yve said " Well... I really wanted to know how were you doing and that was the first thing that came to mind" Nick said "Now that you put the theme, if you ask me to marry you at this same moment I will say yes and be Mrs. Yvette Carter... cute name…" Yvette said thinking out loud. Amaya and AJ looked at Yve with surprised looks on their faces. When Yvette registered what she was saying she blushed and mumbled sorry. Nick wasn't expecting this reaction at all. Yvette's doctor came in and told Yvette that if she was feeling ok she could go home but if she did she would have to rest her broken leg and take care of the cuts on her right arm. The dr. said that she had to stay 2 days more in observation and then go home. Nick stayed with her the whole time.
