Chapter Eight ~ Discovery

____________________________________________________

After a night on the town, the Boys came back to the station house, fairly sober. They all had gone to a few clubs, had some beers and danced with some girls and overall had a good time. Kevin plopped himself down on the couch to take a load off, before going to bed. AJ, had jumped in the shower and Nick was running around chasing Brian, wanting to shoot some hoops. Howie had gone upstairs to grab his Mp3 player. As he heading out the door, he noticed a white object on the floor, next to the dressers. It looked like a piece of paper.

“What’s this?” he wondered as he bet down to pick it up

It was a white envelope with all their names on it. The handwriting was female, no doubt about that. He didn’t know where it had come from or who had put it there. Maybe one of the other guys knew.

“Hey guys, does anyone know who left this letter in our room?”

“What letter?” Brian called from the kitchen

“This one.” holding it up. “I found it on the floor next to the dressers."

“Who’s it to?” Nick said as he closed the frig door.

“It’s addressed to all of us. I didn’t know if you guys knew about it or not or where it came from.“

”Let me see it “ Nick said as he grabbed it from Howie.

“Hey!"

“ Writing looks a little familiar but …”

“Oh, geez, you guys. Just give it to me. I’ll open it. It’s probably from management anyway. ” Kevin said a little louder.

As Kevin started opening it, AJ came out of the bathroom.

“ Hey,. What’s everybody gathered around for? Did I miss something important?”

“D, found a letter floor of our room and it’s addressed to all of us.. We don’t know where it came from. “

“You don’t think a fan left it do you?”

“No, I doubt that. When would they have time to do that? And how? Plus, Nick seemed to recognized the writing, so it has to be someone in the crew or something. And it’s a woman’s handwriting. Got any idea?.”

“No, but I probably wont be too surprised if it’s from up-top.”

Kevin took out the several papers. The first had all their names on it and then there was one for each them. He opened up the one with all their names on it and began to read.

“So, who’s it from? Howie asked

“Hold on a minute” he said slowly as he read through the lines of handwriting. His expression changed as he read further, from anticipation to sadness. He couldn’t believe it.. Just from the way she wrote, he could tell something was not right. This definitely made him want to find out what happened with her.

“Kevin?” Brian asked

“It’s from Brie” looking up slowly.

They were surprised, but the look on Kevin’s face puzzled them.

“Well, what’s it say.?” AJ commanded

Kevin sat down and urged the other to too. Then, he began to read.

Dear Boys,
If you are reading this now, I’m already gone.
Sorry, it had to be this way. I wish that I didn't have to write this.
I did what I thought was right, and look where it got me. When did doing the right thing turn into a bad thing?
Anyways... I want you to know that the time we have worked and shared together has been great.
I will treasure all those memories, the good and the bad.,
You guys are the best. I have never met more kinder, outgoing, funny, dedicated people in my life.
Thank you so much for making me feel so welcome and a part of the Backstreet family.

This is so hard for me to write. I never thought that I'd have to say goodbye to you guys.
Well... whatever you do, you must promise me never to let go of your dreams and
follow your heart because your futures are bright, and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
You guys are a part of me and I take you wherever I go. I will miss you so much.
I just hope in return that you will not forget me. God bless and take care.

Love & Kisses,
*~Brie~*

They were all stunned. They didn’t know what to say. What could have happened to make Johnny fire her? It didn’t seem right. She was one of the best they had and good friends with all of them.

“What does she mean about the right and wrong thing?”Howie spoke up

“I don’t know. She, umm.. wrote each of us a letter, if you want to read them. I’m thinkin’ of hitting the hay, and I advise you do the same. “ he said handing them out and heading upstairs.

All four of them just sat there, fingering their piece of paper.
