Chapter 14

Five minutes later, Nick burst into Cassie's house. "Cassie, sweetie, where are you?"

Cassie came from the kitchen to see Nick. "What are you doing here, Nick?"

"You know, Cassie, I thought we were growing apart, but I found out it was deeper. We were just changing from what we were. Together we changed. And we didn't know that we had to change together. We had to change as one and become one. That's the way it's supposed to be. Yesterday, you told me not to do what I don't feel. And you're right. I can't be with Melissa because love for her is not what I feel. And I'll never feel it."

"What is it that you feel, Nick?" she asked in barely a whisper. But, she was pretty sure she already knew what he was getting at.

"I feel you. Only you. I love you!"

"Do you really, Nick?" she asked.

"Yes. You've been there for me through thick and thin. We have something that is so strong. I never want to let it go. I don't know when or how this whole thing crossed the line of just being friends, but I'm glad it did. Because I want to spend the rest of my life with you!" Nick picked Cassie up and put her back down as he gave her a kiss on the lips.

"I love you so much, Nick."

"I think I love you more," he replied.

Right then, the doorbell rang and Cassie went to answer it. She opened the door to find Melissa on the other side.

"Cassandra, is Nick here?" Melissa asked.

"She doesn't like to be called that," Nick said as he walked up behind Cassie.

"Well, excuse me. Anyway, what happened to you, Nick? You just left."

"You actually think I was going to sit there and listen to you tell me to stay away from the love of my life?"

"Love of your life?"

"Yes." he put his arm around Cassie's shoulders. "I love Cassie very much."

"What about me?"

"Well, once you started going down on Cassie, I lost all respect for you. And I realized I had feelings for Cassie that will never go away."

"Fine! Have fun in your little dream world. I thought you were different. More mature than certain other people I know," Melissa left without another word.

"That was intense," Cassie said as she closed the door.

"Here's something even more intense," he said and kissed Cassie once again.
