Chapter 9

Wednesday morning, the sun shone brightly, but it was just a trap to all unsuspecting hopefuls that the weather was nice and warm, where in actuality; it was wicked and filled with the harsh gust of the cold wind. Ro-Ena shifted in her bed as she felt arms wrapped around her, keeping her warm and safe under the covers. She opened her eyes to find herself face to face with Nick; who was still fast asleep.

“Stay with me tonight,” she remembered herself saying that request to him from the night before. They had slept together in her bed, arms wrapped around one another, but nothing happened under the sheet. They were just two people seeking to find someone to cease their loneliness. She continued to graze at his gentle and peaceful face. She slowly and tenderly ran her fingers down the side of his face.

He felt it. He pulled her closer to his body. The warmth of her body was soothing for him and he felt needed. He felt he was keeping her promise to her of protecting her. Slowly, he opened his eyes to find her watching him. “Good morning,” he softly uttered.

She smiled at him, “good morning,” was her response.

“Did you sleep good?” he still didn’t let go of her grip of her around her waist.

“I don’t think I’ve ever slept this good for a very long time,” she chuckled while letting him freely wrap his arms around her body.

She suddenly felt his warm hand brush up against the side of her bare skin. That was when she realized she wasn’t wearing any shirt, just her sports bra and a pair of really short-shorts. His hand felt silky-smooth against her almost bare body. Intimacy usually presented to her a discomfort feeling, but in the case with him, it was nothing but easiness for her. “I wish I could stay here with you forever,” she retorted candidly. She surprised herself for saying something like that, so surprised that she felt her face blush.

Nick let out a small chortle. He leaned his face closer to hers, so close that the only space that was separating his face from hers was a 2-centimetre interim. “I want to kiss you right now,” he whispered.

She smiled.

He leaned in even more closely until both their warm and soft lips touched and pressed against each other. Ro-Ena felt tingles rummage through her entire body. His lips felt like velvet against her. He was so gentle and soft, but with a hint of aggressiveness. His arms continued to run up and down her bare back while he continued to kiss her. Suddenly, she could feel the beating of his heart against her. It was calm and it seemed like it was beating concurrently with the beating of her heart.

After a while, he finally pulled back, ending their magical kiss. They smiled at each other.

“Why can’t things always be like this?” Ro-Ena asked rhetorically

“It will be, trust me. Even if it’s the last thing I do, I’ll lead you to a quiet life, I promise!”
