Nick and Janine reached the Coliseum, a banquet hall, where the Christmas Eve party was taking place in. Janine was proud to be seen with Nick, but Nick felt the opposite. He didn’t want to be there, and he regretted of agreeing to go in the first place.
When they entered the gorgeous setting, all eyes were on them, a few silent chatters took place on the side as the two of them made their way across the hall and into their reserved table. A sudden rush of sensation overtook Nick and he felt as if something was about to take place. He couldn’t explain or make sense as to what it was but the feeling could not be forgotten or ignored.
“Are you okay?” Janine asked as she settled herself on the table while not bothering to look Nick in the eye, as she glanced all over the room to see if the attention was focused on them.
“Do you even give a rat’s ass?” Nick growled as she noticed Janine’s attention hubbed somewhere else.
“Excuse me?” she snarled at him, feeling insulted that her false presentation of caring had gotten caught.
“Oh come on Janine,” Nick rolled his eyes while leaning closer as to not create a scene. “You and I both know that you only asked me to come here because you want to make a point to everyone. It’s always been about image for you!”
“That’s not true,” she shot back at Nick. “I asked you to come here with me because I wanted to give us a chance!” she said while reaching her hand over to hold Nick’s, whom pulled away.
“Save the bull, Janine! Coming here with you is a mistake,” he said while getting up.
“Where are you going?”
“Do you even care?” he shot at her. “You already made your grand entrance, everyone already seems to know that you came here with me, so why don’t you just go make your little rounds showing off your perfect self, isn’t that what you normally do?” he said while walking away, heading toward a small exit he found, which ultimately led him into a small but beautiful garden.
