“Don’t be scared,” Riley said as she let Uriel flutter into the air, then went back into his cage and rested. Riley looked deep into Nick’s eyes with a small but gentle smile on her face.
“I’m dreaming…no…I’m hallucinating…lack of sleep causes that,” Nick reasoned while taking his hands and rubbing his eyes with his fingers.
“This is not a dream, Nick,” Riley said as she reached her hand over and gently touched his face.
She felt cold and with her touch, Nick’s entire body felt chills and he began to shiver. “What do you want?”
“To see you,” her voice was filled with sadness. “To hear your voice once again”
“Why did you leave me?” Nick’s voice had a hint of fear and pain all at the same time. “Why did you leave me, Riley? Why?”
“I didn’t leave you, Nick”
“I miss you,” he said as tears began to flow out of his eyes. For Nick, it seems like the only way tears escaped his eyes was for Riley. “I miss you so much,” he reached his hand and touched her face, only to realize that the scar that was once there, was no longer present. Her long flowing hair was suddenly brushed away from her face to reveal a flawless and beautiful vision. Her eyes twinkled in the dark while her lips had the colour that resembled a red rose’s petal. “I missed you because I loved you so much. I still love you Riley, I need you!”
“I love you,” she whispered as her body drew closer to his.
They looked deep into each other’s eyes as Nick closed his teary eyes and allowed his lips to touch her cold but soft red lips. Against his lips, it felt real but at the same time, it was like kissing the cold air.
He pulled away and she remained lost in his gaze. “If you look deep within you, amidst everything that surrounds you, you’ll find me again,” she said. “Please remember that, Nick. I’m right here. Please remember!” she said in a pleading tone as her sight began to suddenly vanish into the night’s air.
Time, sometimes the time just slips away

Nick closed his eyes one more time as he whispered into the wind, “Riley please don’t leave…don’t leave me again!”
