Chapter 25

“Nick?” a voice belonging to a woman called out from behind him

Nick stopped mid-step and turned his head to see whom it was that called out his name. It was Janine Wilder; the Janine Wilder that used him for his money and once she got what she needed, she left him for another man. “Janine?” he whispered under his breath as the pain he felt the day she left was replayed in his mind. He hated her, and right then and there, he wanted to grab her neck and suck every life out of her for putting him through hell and back.

“How have you been doing?” she asked sympathetically as she made her way closer to him, followed by the stretch of her arms to engorge Nick against her body and hug him.

Nick pulled away in hesitating; he had such antipathy for her. “What do you want now, Janine?” he said disgustingly as he eyed her head to toe. Though, he couldn’t help the fact that she looked even better than the last he had seen her. She was wearing a short jean skirt that revealed her long, glossy and smooth legs, and a white tube top that exposed her flat stomach, and her hair was pulled back into a messy bun as stray hers touched down on her shoulder that was covered in shimmers of glitter. Janine had always looked perfect in every sense of appearance.

“You know how they say that you never really know how important a person is in your life until they’re gone?” she said while looking deep into Nick’s eyes, as if trying to hypnotize him.

“Don’t tell me, you finally found some time to sit your ass down to watch Barney and Friends?” he shot at her while crossing his arms to show the anger that she had inflicted in him.

“All I’m really asking is for you and I to get acquainted again,” she said while slowly moving towards Nick, and finally wrapping her arms around his neck and tried to seduce Nick with her sexuality by intricately and passionately playing with the back of his neck: she knew he loved that and she was persistent on winning him back that she was prepared to give him everything that he desired. “There’s this huge Christmas party at the Coliseum on the 24th, everyone is going to be there. Just come with me and we’ll get re-acquainted,” she pouted her lips at Nick while their face was separated only by an inch worth of space as she continued to play with the back of his neck.

“I don’t know, Janine,” he retorted pulling away. “You know I cared a lot about you, but that was the past. You…you lied to me, you deceived me…Janine you…you cheated on me! Am I just supposed to forget that and pretend nothing happened?”

“Everybody makes mistakes, just give me another chance?” she pleaded. “At least say that you’ll think about it?”

“I…I don’t know,” Nick hesitated while shifting his body, a sheer sign of his discomfort of the situation.

“Please…” she begged in a kid-like voice while pouting her lips and batting her eyes, “with sugar on top?” while leaning over and giving Nick a small peck on the lips, allowing him to taste her strawberry-glossed lips.

Nick rolled his eyes and gave in just so he can walk away and forget about Janine once again. “Fine, I’ll think about it”

“Great!” Janine jumped playfully in gladness. “I have to get going, aerobic class!” she winked. “See you later, handsome! Call me!” she said while a smile was stretched from ear to ear and began to walk away.

“Yeah, whatever,” Nick whispered to himself and continued his walk the opposite way.
