Chapter 2

“He makes a turn to the right…oh dude, his right is your left…yo’ bad! And he shoots…and…LOOK AT THAT! Nothin’ but net, baby!” Nick raised his arm to signify another win against the computer. “Damn I’m good!” he commended himself. A sudden thug coming from the upstairs interrupted his moment of victory, as he tossed his game controller on the carpeted floor and allowed himself to stand up while making his way toward the stairs that ultimately will lead him upstairs.

“What are you doing?” Nick asked as his eyebrows curl in question when he reached a huge bedroom up the stairs, clearly the master bedroom of the house.

“It’s over, Nick!” a blonde girl called out as she zipped up her last bag and grabbed the rest while walking past Nick to make her way downstairs.

“What do you mean it’s over?” Nick asked dumbfounded.

“I mean it’s over!” the girl exclaimed without having enough decency to look at Nick.

“Janine, wait!” Nick called out as he followed her trail. He saw her walking towards the front door. “Janine!”

“Nick, don’t make this harder than it already is, please!” she pleaded while stopping to turn and face the man she’s leaving behind.

“Could you please tell me why you’re leaving?”

“It’s not that I don’t love you, it’s just, I can’t live like this”

“Live like what? I give you everything that you want. What else do you want from me?”

A silence fell on the room as Nick’s eyes met Janine’s, but a ring on the doorbell interrupted the silence. “That’s for me,” Janine said slowly while reaching for the knob of the door and pulled it open.

“You ready, baby?” a voice belonging to a man called out then followed by a lean toward Janine as his lips met hers.

“Yeah, in a second. Take my stuff to the car. I’ll be out in a bit,” Janine retorted to the figure that the other voice belonged to then turning to face Nick once again.

“Who’s he?” Nick said as his voice began to shake in anger while crossing his arms.

“Oh come on Nick, don’t tell me you’re really that stupid to not have known!”

“Is that what you call it nowadays? It’s stupidity for trusting your girlfriend not to have been fucking any other guys? How could you do this to me? After everything I’ve done and given you, how?”

“And don’t think I don’t appreciate it all,” Janine smirked. “Goodbye Nick,” and without a single hesitation, she walked out of the house closing the door behind her leaving Nick alone in an empty room.
