"NO! Jeez, Leighanne, how many times do I have to tell you? I don't wanna go out tomorrow night!" Brian yelled into the phone as his girlfriend Heather sat on the couch watching in silence. Brian sighed while Leighanne spoke. "NO! Stop calling here!" With that, he slammed down the phone and collapsed on the couch next to Heather. "Honey, I'm so sorry you have to deal with her," he said to Heather.
"It's okay," Heather said quietly. "I understand. You two had something really good going, I can understand that she doesn't want it to end."
"It ended three years ago, you'd think that us being together for three years would make her take the hint."
"Maybe it's because of the fact that I'm so much younger than you," Heather suggested.
"It might be. Who knows what's going on in her mind?" Heather shrugged her shoulders. Brian turned around to look at her. She's the one, he thought. "One can only wonder why you didn't dump me three years ago."
"I'd never do that, and you know that. Unless you had it coming," she added with a smile.
"Ha ha. Who'd have ever thought that me running into you in the mall would result in this? And JC and Leigh, no less? Look what happened to them."
~Flashback, 2001, Florida Mall~
"Heather, look! It's Brian!"
The brunette eighteen year-old spun on her heels and turned her head. "Where?"
"On the poster, it's a new one!" her nineteen year-old friend Alecia said, pointing to a box of rolled up BSB posters.
"Grrr... I thought you meant the REAL Brian."
"Sorry," Alecia replied, turning around and looking at the 'N Sync stuff.
"Why do you look at this stuff?" Heather asked, picking up a keychain of JC Chasez and inspecting it.
"Because JC's a hottie, that's why, now gimme that, I don't have that yet," she said, grabbing the keychain.
"I swear, you are such a teenybopper sometimes," Heather said, looking for the price on the Brian poster.
"And you aren't? As I do recal at the last BSB concert we went to, you started pissing off the teenies in the row ahead of us because of your Brian obcession."
"So? Who cares? Brian's mine, I felt they had to know," Heather said, taking the poster to the cash register, following Alecia and her JC keychain. Suddenly, someone bumped her from behind. "Why don't you watch where you're.... Oh my Lord."
"I am so sorry, I didn't mean to run into you, I wasn't paying any attention to where I was going. I'm Josh. And you are?"
"Heather. Nice try as passing yourself off as someone else, I know who you are. I think my friend Alecia would be quite happy to see you," Heather said, pointing out Alecia, who was looking over the earrings and contemplating whether she wanted to get her ears pierced again or not. JC looked over at her and raised his eyebrows. "She's single, if that's what you were gonna ask," Heather said, noting the look in his eye.
JC grinned and looked back at Heather. "Thank you," he said quickly and turned toward Alecia. Heather watched as he tapped her on the shoulder and laughed as her mouth dropped open.
Heather walked out of the store in search of pizza, her stomach was rumbling and she wanted it to stop. As she passed Alecia, she noticed that she was playing with her keys, which was her nervous habit. She had already attached the keychain to her key ring and JC was in danger of seeing a small version of himself hanging from her keys. "Leigh, JC keychain," she whispered as she walked past, just loud enough for Alecia to hear. She quickly glanced down at her hand and shoved her keys in her pocket. ,p>Heather made it out of the store quickly. Where she got bumped into yet again. "Why does everyone keep running into.... Oh my Lord."
"I'm sorry, but I was looking for my friend. Have you seen a brown haired guy named Josh anywhere?"
"Ummm... Yeah, I saw him. He's in there flirting with my friend Leigh as we speak."
"Oh. Well, I guess I can hang out with you," he said, smiling a lopsided grin that made Heather's knees weak. "By the way, I'm Brian. And you would be....?"
Heather had to think of her name for a second before answering. "Heather." Why didn't I have this much trouble taking to JC? she thought, getting frustrated.
"Cool. Well, nice to meet you, Heather," Brian said, shaking her hand.
Heather smiled. "Likewise," came out of her mouth, but she was thinking, I think this could be the beginning of something really, really good.
~End Flashback~
"Who'd have thought? And everyone kept on running into me that day," Heather said with a laugh.
"Yeah," Brian said. He looked at his watch. "Speaking of running, if we don't do that, then we're gonna be late."
"Oh jeez, yeah."
~*~*~
"And do you, Joshua Scott Chasez, take this woman, Alecia Sydney Morris, to be your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, to love and to cherish, as long as you both shall live?"
Brian looked over at Heather, who was watching Alecia and JC exchange their wedding vows. She felt his eyes on her, and turned her head toward him and smiled. Brian smiled in return as two of their best friends became husband and wife.
"You may kiss the bride," the priest said with a smile. Immediately, Brian looked over at Heather, who was nearing tears of happiness. He remembered her tears when their friend Jenn had gotten married to her longtime boyfriend Adam. 'I always cry at weddings,' she had said, sniffing. Well, honey, one can only wonder what you're gonna do tonight, Brian thought, playing with the ring box in his pocket.
~*~*~
At the reception, when Alecia threw the bouquet, Heather took a flying leap for it. She caught it, but only after landing on JC's sister Heather. (Both are named Heather- wonder of wonders!) She stood up triumphantly, and pulled Heather (Chasez) to her feet and apologized for using her as a landing pad. Once the garter was off of Alecia's leg, with much cat calls from the rest of 'N Sync and BSB from JC's antics, Brian proceeded to get into position. Once JC flung the garter over his shoulder, it headed straight for..... Justin Timberlake. Justin caught it, then looked at Brian, who had a Drop That Thing Now Or I'll Be Sure You Never Produce Children Look on his face, and dropped the garter as if it were on fire and backed away from it. Brian pounced on it like a cat pouncing on catnip. Heather (Brian's) started cracking up laughing. Brian looked up at the video camera that Kevin had brought to film the whole thing and said to him, "What? I wanted to catch it."
"Wait a second, before you do this, I have to ask you something," Heather said, sitting down on the chair in the middle of the dance floor.
"Ask away," Brian said, getting nervous.
"Where can we go from here?"
Brian paused for a moment. He wasn't prepared for this. But an answer came to him quickly. "To the stars," he said, kissing Heather on the lips. "Heather, will you marry me?"
Heather's eyes enlarged as she saw Brian pull out a black box from his pocket and open it to reveal a diamond engagement ring. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out. "Heather, say yes!" Alecia yelled from the side, where she was standing nex to a grinning JC.
Heather turned toward Alecia and said in a panicky voice, "I forgot how!"
Brian looked at Heather and turned his attention to Alecia. "Is that a yes?" he asked, confused.
Heather looked toward Brian, and blurted out, "Yes!"
Brian smiled and put the ring on her finger. "I think this could be the beginning of something really , really good."
