Nick got home at 7:00pm. He put his car keys on the table checked the answering machine. There was a message from Kevin, who sounded pissed. Nick called Kevin back.

"Hello"

"Hi, Kev. I got your message."

"It's about time."

"What's wrong?"

"Do you remember what today was?"

"Ummm, no. What?"

"We had a meeting with Jive! Boy, were they mad that you weren't there."

"I forgot. No big deal."

"It is a big deal! What's gotten into you?"

"Nothing"

"It's that girl isn't it? The one you visit at the hospital. Nick, you have to get your priorities straight."

"I do. Adri needs me and I'm gonna be there for her."

"Well, we need you too, Nick. Have you forgotten that we are in the middle of recording an album?"

"No, I haven't."

"Well, we're gonna be in the studio tomorrow morning."

"But-"

"No, buts Nick. Be there!"

Nick hung up the phone. He was so upset. What was he gonna do? Adrianne needed Nick to be there for her. Nick didn't want to let Adrianne down.

"Wait a minute." Nick said to himself, "I've got an idea.

*THE NEXT MORNING*

Adrianne was just finishing up breakfast when Nick arrived.

"C'mon, lets go." Nick said.

"Where are we going?" Adrianne asked.

"I'm taking you out for the day." Nick said, "You're coming to the studio with me."

"But..." Adrianne began.

"Don't worry, I already talked to the doctors." Nick said, "They said it's ok."

"Wow" Adrianne said as her and Nick entered the studio.

Nick smiled and showed Adrianne around. Adrianne sat down at the piano and then looked up,

"Can I.."

"Go ahead" Nick said.

Adrianne began to play. It wasn't a specific song, she was just making it up, as she went along.

"I didn't know you could play." Nick said.

"Yeah" Adrianne said, "I learned when I was little."

"Cool" Nick said, "Hey, I'm gonna get something to drink. Do you want anything?"

"No, thanks." Adrianne replied.

Nick left the room and Adrianne continued to play the piano.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?!?!?"

Adrianne looked up quickly. Kevin was standing in the doorway. Brian, AJ, and Howie were behind him.

"Didn't you here me?" Kevin asked, "Who are you?"

"I think she's that girl Nick's been visiting." Brian said, "You know, the one in the looney bin."

AJ looked at Adrianne, "I dunno why Nick would wanna hang out with you. You're a psycho."

Adrianne sat on the floor, put her hands over her ears, and cried as she rocked back and forth. Kevin, Brian, AJ, and Howie almost seemed to be laughing at Adrianne.

Nick walked back in the room, "What's going on?"

Adrianne ran over to Nick and hid behind him, crying on his shirt.

"Oh, hey Nick." Kevin said, "We were just talking to your stupid little friend."

"She's not stupid." Nick said angrily, "Don't you EVER call her stupid!!!!" Nick turned to Adrianne,

"Are you ok ,sweetie?"

Adrianne nodded her head no.

Nick touched Adrianne's cheek gently, "Why don't you go in the other room. I'll be there in a minute."

Adrianne left the room.

Nick turned his attention to his band mates, "How dare you treat Adrianne like that! You don't even know her."

"Oh" Howie said, "And I suppose you do?"

"Yeah, I do." Nick said, "I know that she's a really nice person and doesn't deserve to be treated like some kind of freak."

Suddenly, there was a sound of glass being shattered. All five guys quickly ran into the other room. There was a mirror shattered on the floor. Adrianne held one of the broken pieces to her wrist.

"Adri don't!!" Nick said, taking the broken glass away from her, "Please don't hurt yourself. It's not worth it. C'mon, lets get outta here."

Nick helped Adrianne up and the two of them proceeded to leave.

"Where do you think you're going Nick?" Kevin asked, "We start recording in ten minutes."

"I don't care." Nick said, "Right now, I don't want nothing to do with any of you. Get out of our way." Nick pushed the rest of the guys out of the way, and he and Adrianne left.
