"You did what?" Hallie screeched at Lance as she pressed her feet hard against the floor, staring at the ground in disbelief.
Lance had just told her what had happened last night and Hallie was furious that he had gotten to kiss Emily and liked it. She was also upset with herself, because after everything she went through she didn't even feel a shiver when she kissed Justin. Everything that she wished she had, ended up being a mistake and just a wonder. Figuring out where her heart belonged, the arrow wasn't pointing in Justin's direction. She liked someone else and was using Justin as a denial for her own feelings. The bad part was the guy was standing 2 feet away from her rambling on about his dumb kiss with Emily.
"Well, how do you know she felt the same way?" Hallie suddenly asked.
"Well, she kissed back for one. But she did run away after it. I think I'll just go over there see. She's probably sleeping like a baby having dreams of our kiss." Lance blabbed. Before Hallie could stop him he was across the hall knocking on her door. She felt a hint of jealousy. Why hadn't she realized this before she went and broke them up? She knew all of this was her fault and planned to get Emily to forgive her if it was the last thing she did.
Lance was standing by the door when Justin answered it. His heart jumped into his throat and stopped. Slowly backing away, his mind went into a blank.
"Justin who is it?" Emily called from inside the room. Lance did a double take looking over Justin's shoulder to see her standing by the desk, placing an earring in. Just last night she was with him and now her and Justin are back together. Feelings don't come and go that quickly so there must have been a reason for Justin to be over. All this was spinning around his head as Emily appeared at the door. She was still in the same clothes from last night and her face was still tear stained. They must have gotten back together recently, around 10 minutes ago. Lance wanted to leave and get away from this sight when Hallie appeared at his side. The four of them just stood there until Hallie broke the silence.
"I think we should talk.... all of us." she stated quietly. She was scared as her eyes circled around the room seeing Lance's eyes all over Emily, and Justin and Emily's on her with confusion.
"No, we shouldn't. Da two of you almost ruined the best relationship I have ever had in my entire life and just when I get it back you show up again. There's no way in hell I'm going to let you ruin it again. " Justin threatened in a low voice as he blocked the entrance with his arm, covering Emily's eyes.
Emily tugged at his sleeve to calm him down, knowing what the results could turn into. Justin and Lance were group mates, having to spend most of their fame lives together, she couldn't deal with being responsible for their fighting. This couldn't happen because they had fans to entertain and jobs to be done. Justin wouldn't let this pass though. He wanted his friend to know exactly how this has made him feel and that he couldn't deal with it all over again. He was very protective of Emily but she wanted to solve things, not let them hanging.
"Wait, I want to talk. Justin come on, don't do this. It was a mistake and we need to talk it out." She said shakily. Justin sighed and released his hand from the door, being allowed to come in. Emily took Justin's arm and lead him to the bed as the other two sat across from them. His body felt tense, not wanting to look in either Lance or Hallie's direction. Once everyone was settled, Justin spoke first.
"Okay, talk. I don't wanna do this but you brought it up, so talk."
He was angry and fierce as Emily tried to calm him down by rubbing his leg, but he stayed tense as ever. Hallie slowly opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out except a little gasp for air. She stood up and began to pace through the little aisle between the beds, stopping in front of Justin and Emily like she was ready to say what was needed to be said. Not knowing the words to explain her apology she kept quiet and just stood in her tracks as she watched the couple. Emily looked at Hallie as tears started falling from both of their faces. Justin turned Emily's head to face him and gently wiped her tears away. As she buried her head in his neck, Lance felt jealously shoot through him. Finally, something managed to squeak its way out of Hallie's mouth.
"I'm....we're sorry. At least I think I speak for both of us." Hallie couldn't get anything else out because Lance cut her off. Hearing the squeaks of the bed behind her she turned around to see Lance fire up from his seat like a fireworks exploding, she feared for his next move.
"No, you don't speak for both of us. I'm not sorry... not sorry at all. All I know is that Emily and I shared something last night, we shared a kiss like none other I have ever felt. I know she had to have felt something because the feeling was overwhelming. There is no way she didn't feel anything." The volume level of Lance's voice startled everyone as he let out one of those slight laughs (such as in Everything I Own with his little solo). He was loud and demanding with everything he said, knowing that it was right. Emily, even with her head in his chest, could feel how up tight Justin had gotten in the last 10 seconds that Lance was talking. Before she could say anything, Justin blew up. He lifted Emily's head out of his shirt quickly with the turn of his shoulder and made her look at him.
"Is dat true?" he directed his question towards Emily. Her face went pale as he waited for her answer, staring into her blue eyes. Emily knew that if she told the truth that she hadn't felt anything, Lance would make a fuss, but if she lied, then Justin would be gone forever. "Is it?" he demanded getting impatient with his teeth clenched tightly together.
"No! I told you the truth this morning. I told you that the only reason I let it happen was that I pretended it was you. I'm really sorry Lance, I never wanted to hurt you. I just didn't know. But I don't know if I can forgive you because you almost ruined the relationship that I have needed since......nevermind.....I just needed it! I'm sorry if you felt something, but I'm not lying when I say I never even felt a goose bump." Emily cried. Tears were streaming down her face as she spoke.
"That's bullshit and you know it!( Armageddon line!)" Lance screamed as he stood up and pushed Hallie out of his way. He stood there in both of Justin and Emily's faces, waiting for an answer or something. Justin had enough with the whole thing, not even wanting to be here in the first place. Emily felt it before he even got up as Justin tensed up and stood up in Lance's face.
" Yo punk, neva say dat 'bout my girl!" Justin threatened as he threw his shoulders back and started to walk forward which made Lance move back slowly.
" Yeah? You wanna make that clearer?"
" Hells yeah!" Justin leaned his arm back and it came flashing right before Lance's eyes as Justin's knuckles met with his cheek.
JC and Deanna (Deanna POV)
We were walking hand in hand up the stairs, just getting up onto Emily's floor when we heard Emily cry out. There was screaming and the sound of things smacking the floor hard in her room. At first I thought it was Jeremy who had come back, but then I heard Justin's voice and Lance screaming back. I began to panic as I squeezed JC hand. I felt him squeeze back and before I knew it he let go and took off running towards Emily's room. I ran after him at my slow speed. He waited there patiently, waiting for me to arrive as we swung open the door and saw Emily and Hallie watching in awe as Justin and Lance had a boxing match. Emily was begging for Justin to stop, but he was ignoring her.
JC grabbed Justin by the neck of the shirt, then scooping Justin's arms together with this other arm. He pulled him back with all his force, slamming him down on one of the beds as JC stared at him breathing deeply. Emily immediately ran to him trying to calm him down. Lance was breathing heavily on the floor with a split lip, that was dripping small drops of blood on Emily's carpet. Justin's eye was starting to swell up as I ran from the entrance of the door into the bathroom and got two wash cloths with cold water on them. I gave one to Hallie who got down to tend to Lance and the other to Emily. She gently reached up and started tending his eye. As soon as Justin calmed down, JC let go of his shirt. JC got him up out into the hall leaving Emily in the room with me. Hallie took Lance back to her room so she could fix up his face a little bit.
"Are you okay?" I asked Emily who was staring at the floor. The sound of the door closing surprised her as she shook and jumped. She slowly met my gaze. Her face was all flushed with tears still running down them while she held the wash cloth in one hand with some blood rubbed on it.
"This is all my fault." she sobbed in a whisper. I slowly walked over to the bed as I sat on one of my legs and pulled her into a hug as she cried into my shoulder. I have never seen her so upset. Except for once, but that was different.
"How?" I didn't understand. The guys were the ones fighting, not her.
"If Lance had never liked me then none of this would have ever happened. He wouldn't have kissed me and then him and Justin wouldn't have been fighting." she was crying harder now. Before we could say anything else, JC and Justin came back in the room. He walked over to Emily who didn't acknowledge him. She just sat there standing her ground. I could tell she was mad at him and herself.
"Emily, please don't do this. I'm sorry, I was just really mad at him. He called you a liar, Em. I know you be not lying. I was only trying to defend you. I guess I did it da wrong way. We just made up, can't we work around this? Please?" He pleaded to her. I saw her soften, but still hold her ground. I didn't know what was going to happen next. She was at a vunerable state right now and I could tell Justin knew it wouldn't be easy to make this up to her.
"I can't let this go Justin. I know you meant well but I just can let this slide. I think we need some time apart. This just isn't working." she squeaked out while trying to control her sobbing. "You had me scared to death. Just don't think that I'm doing this because of one fight, I just need time to think. But promise me one thing. If you really care for me you'll do this." I stood there in shock. Never in a million years had I seen Emily have so much strenght. Justin just stood there with a blank look on his face, slowly nodding his head.
"I'll do whatever Em. Please don't do this. I....I....I...Lo" Justin started with a quivering voice. I knew what he was going to say and it was the wrong thing to say at the moment. I think Emily knew it to so she cut him off.
" Justin. No. Just promise me one thing. Don't let this affect your group. Please don't stay mad at him. He made a mistake. He'll get over it. Just don't hold a grudge against him. Promise?"
He nodded his head while he walked over to her. I saw him try to wrap his arms around her waist and I watched her push him away. I awed sadly at the moment letting in a deep sigh. I felt the bed press down on the other end as JC came crawling and grabbed me from behind and rubbed my shoulders. He knew this was going to be tough for both of us to deal with. I sat there watching as Justin slowly left the room and Emily collasped on her bed and sobs take over her body. JC decided to see what was happening with Justin so I could talk to Emily alone. He got up, left us alone, and ran to catch up with his best friend.
Chris and Hollis - Vegas
" Hollis? Wake up...," Chris shook her as she laid on a couch in the back of the room.
Hollis opened her eyes to feel dizzy in an unknown place. Chris offered a hand to help her up as she gladly excepted it and placed a hand on her back to place her up straight. She tossed her legs over the side and stood up on her own. " Are you feeling all right?".
" Yeah, I'm doing just fine. How did you know I was here? Or in other words, where am I?" Hollis asked as she walked over to entrance with no door.
" I heard you on the loud speaker. Girl, you must have been messed up pretty bad, but it was cute."
Hollis gave him a look of embarrassment but also she was a little mad. Chris put his hands on her waist and walked with her as they went out back into the gambling area. Not winning that much and with the long delay of Hollis's disappearance, they continued to put in their money, hoping for a little bit of luck.
As the time went by, the clock turned to two o'clock in the morning. Drinks were served with no food in sight though no hunger was over coming them. They sat at two clot machines right next to each other as Chris turned to face her. A sigh of not winning came from Hollis as she began to put another quarter in the machine but Chris blocked it with his hand. His other hand went on her knee and then she finally faced him. Time came that they should stop for the night, Chris was finally realizing that.
Taking her hand they jumped off of their stools and started walking out of the hotel to the main strip as bright lights shown above them with the dark skies. People were all over as if it was late afternoon and dinner time was about to roll by. The walked the miles back to their hotel room, all the way up the stairs and down the long halls. They stood before their hotel room as Chris dove into his pockets in search for the sliding key. Jiggling from the coins bounced up and down as Hollis leaned her head against the wall and closed her eyes from tiredness.
Minutes passed as Chris checked every open spot on him, not in luck, " Do you have the key?"
Hollis opened her eyes to see a concerned look on Chris's face as he held his empty, open hands out to show that he couldn't find the key. Hollis searched her pockets to find nothing but gum wrappers. As she looked in her purse, you wouldn't be able to find anything in there, there was so much junk. Make up was scrambled about with coupons and ads that have been handed to her.
She shook her head as Chris let out a yell and pounded the door with his fist, swearing beneath his breath. No key to get in means that they had to walk all the way back through that casino again. Having to resist the urge to sit at one of those machines would be like keeping Emily away from Justin for five seconds. Chris put his arm around Hollis as he pushed her down the hall ahead of him. She trudged along as she moaned from the long distance and the eager desire to sleep for once that day.
As they entered through the same building that they were unable to escape from they glared around to see the faces of winners. Hollis stumbled as her attention was grabbed by the coins and the money. Though she kept in mind that there was an empty bed at the hotel room that was warm and comforting, well, only if Chris was with her. Distracting her, Chris looked behind him to see that Hollis wasn't following behind he paced over with a stern look and grabbed her by the arm, making her body gallop a few inches in front of her feet. Watching the stores as the stormed by, Chris was diverted by a bright, Christmas lighted sign that read " Hitch or Ditch" (creative, huh? I have no idea what the name of the place is, I thought mine was cute though!). Figuring out in his mind the way that he felt about Hollis, doing this would fulfill his dreams. Being at the age of 27 and not married made him one of the most popular bachelors around. Making the bond between two that love each other would only connect them more perfectly. *Plus, his mother would be happy and Hollis isn't exactly on the planet earth right now* he thought.
Chris slowed down as he drifted in front of the longing spiral steps to what might be a long, happy life. Turning around, he saw that Hollis was almost asleep, settling her head on his shoulder in the unbearable noise that fluttered around them. Lifting her chin so slightly he directed his eyes into hers. Not wanting to open them, Hollis let them remain closed as she gave a hum in her voice to let him know that she was paying attention.
" Listen, we aren't here for a long time and we might as well make the best of it, right?" Chris hesitated as Hollis lightly shook her head from right to left. " Would you marry me then?" he proposed.
Joey in Hotel Room
Joey sat on his bed looking at the TV but not really paying attention. He heard the show, but if you asked him what show it was, he wouldn't be able to tell you if he tried. He was thinking about everything in his life. Justin and JC were always with their girl. Who the hell knows where Chris is and Lance is just off in la la land. He felt alone all the time and he didn't know what to do about it. He was suppposed to be Mr. Flirt, the one with a thousand girlfriends, so why was he sitting around watching some show on TV when he could be out at a club meeting a ton of girls.
He sat there just thinking about it and wondered what was wrong with him. Why wasn't he interested in going to clubs anymore? Had he been gone for so long that he had forgotten what they were like. No, that wasn't it. He could still see himself dancing in the middle of a group of beautiful women and he wouldn't dance with any of them. He still could smell all the alcohol on everyone's breath as they got themselves smashed at after parties. As he thought about it, he decided to go out becuase he didn't have anything better to do. He turned off the TV and headed out to search North Carolina for some club that would make him forget about all this.
