I laid down on my bed with tears brimming my eyes clutching a pillow close to my chest. I heard a knock on the door but I tried to ignore it.
" Can I come in?" I heard my brother, Joseph, call from outside.
" What do you want?" I said with my face in the pillow.
" I don't know what you answered but I'm coming in anyway," he ordered as he twisted the doorknob slowly and turned on the light switch that sat next to the door. He made himself comfortable in a chair that slid into my desk and pulled it towards the head of my bed. I was on my stomach with my head still in the pillow and my long brown hair draping over it. " Now Deanna, this is stupid, you are crying over a stupid car," he explained.
" You don't understand!" I said as I rolled over onto my back.
" Listen, I was your age before, so I know how it is."
" Yeah, but I couldn't drive then so you had no problems! Just go away, I want to be by myself." I kicked him in the leg but he didn't budge. He stared at me until I sat up and threatened to remove him from my room myself. Why doesn't he just get a life? Or another solution, why don't we just get another car? We have two cars that we have to split among the three of us. My father is at work from 10 in the morning 'til 8 at night and then my brother decides that he gets the other car when he wants it.
I didn't know how to release my anger so I began to kick my bed, then the phone rang. I had a portable telephone that was laying on my desk and me being a lazy person didn't feel like getting it. After three rings it stopped.
" Deanna! It's Steph! Answer the phone!" my brother called from his room down the hall. I dragged my body up off the bed and unbalancly walked to the desk where it sat and pressed on.
" Hey girl, what's up?" I tried being cheery.
" Have you been crying again? Let me guess, a family fight? No wait, was it your brother trying to fix you up again with a fat ass guy?" she said immediately. It brought a smile to my face but it didn't help much.
" You were right the first time. I hate being trapped in this house and I'm glad the summer is approaching. Tomorrow is Saturday, what shall our plans be?" I walked to my blow up chair that sat in the corner of my room. It made squeaks as I was trying to make myself comfortable.
" Well, I'm not sure yet. I was thinking of shopping tomorrow for a graduation dress. If you want to join, I'll come pick you up tomorrow around 2?"
" Yeah, that's great. Just hopefully I will be up by then!"
" Okay girl, I'll see ya tomorrow. Oh, and is it okay if Jeremy comes with? I know how you two broke it off about a month ago."
" Oh, don't worry, we are still good friends. Though I would like to beat the shit out of him sometimes when I see him, but it's okay!" " Aiight, I'll see ya tomorrow then, nighty night." Then I heard the click of the receiver and I sat alone and bored again. I didn't want to leave my room because my brother is out there wanting to work this out and I don't feel like it. I like to stay mad awhile and then let it pass by. Though my father is probably coming home from work any minute.
I went down the long hall and saw that my brother's door was closed. I just gave it a rude glare and then turned to walk down the stairs. I grabbed an apple that was sitting on the kitchen table and sat myself in front of the television and turned on MTV. Total Request Live was on so I decided to keep it on to find out what today's hot group is.
Almost an hour had past and I had only seen one of my favorite groups on there. It's not fair. How come Limp Biskit can't be number one? Just those stupid boy bands. I was just about sick of that stupid Backstreet Boys song and couldn't take it anymore. How could Emily like these guys so much? I shut off the T.V. before the number one song came on. I decided to go to the computer and see if anyone was online.
Just as I was walking to the computer, my dad came home. Just who I wanted to see. I quickly ran to the computer room so I didn't have to talk to him.
As I waited for the computer to boot up I hoped that someone would be on so I didn't have to be so bored. I couldn't do anything. First of all, Joseph had the car, so going anywhere far was out of the question. Plus, it was raining so I couldn't even go outside. What a perfect night.
As I clicked on AOL I scrolled down to my screen name, Chickchat2 and entered my password. As I waited impatiently for the sign on process to sign on, my fingers tapped on the desk. "Welcome! You've Got Mail!" Finally, I thought!
My eyes glanced to the buddy list and I saw that Emily was signed on! Yes! I quickly instant messaged BabyBlue19.
Chickchat2: Hey girl! I miss ya!
BabyBlue19: Me 2! What's Happenin'??
Chickchat2: Just another fight.... ya know, the usual
BabyBlue19: That sux. Only a week left and i'm home, baby! Finals are a pain in the ass, they are tomorrow and i'm stufing my butt off
BabyBlue19: * studying... I need a break! I can't type!
Chickchat2: I know whatchya mean. Graduation practice is the most boringest thing. I have to walk down the aisle with guess who......
BabyBlue19: Who? Stephanie?
Chickchat2: Yeah, I wish. Nope, Jeremy. I wanna change my last name!
BabyBlue19: aw man, that sux ass. Speakin' of graduation, I got kinda good and bad news
Chickchat2: I'll take the bad news first with the way things have been going
BabyBlue19: Well after your graduation I have to go back to school in a week
Chickchat2: Emily!! And the reason is?????
BabyBlue19: You know how I'm on the... uh, you know, how they give student tours for the new comers?
Chickchat2: Yeah, my brother did that
BabyBlue19: Well I have to give tours right after school starts but knowing me I got pissed and told them I couldn't do it for a week. That's because I had your graduation to go to. And the good news is...........
BabyBlue19: You wanna come with? We can stay in my dorm room and it will only be two weeks
Chickchat2: Hello? You are asking me, the girl with no life. Of course i'll come!
BabyBlue19: That's great. I g2g study some more so i'll call you or e-mail soon. Bye bye!
Chickchat2: Good luck, c-ya
After I finished reading my mail, I signed off. My view shifted to the clock and it said it was only nine o'clock. Ugh....this really sucked. I didn't have anything to do, no homework since it was a Friday night. When I finally gave up on anything, I decided to just go to bed.
