`_`CHAPTER NINE`_`

Lee sat in the passenger seat while Vesteva sat in the back, having her knees scrunched together and to the side because of the seat. Putting up a fight with Lee in the parking lot was not in Vesteva's intentions, so she gladly agreed to sit in the back seat for once. Her sister crossed her arms on the open window and had the breeze blow in her face while smiling. Ves opened her orange and still shriveled tote bag up to undisguised a book that she received, along with a few notes that she stuck in the pages. The book was titled, ' Your Not Alone' but that was exactly how she was feeling. Her heart skipped a beat as she kept staring at the words, how unusual that it described her life though she knew the whole idea didn't fit her.

Feeling isolated from everyone though being surrounded with people she loved, Vesteva didn't understand her mind or her heart that well. Everything was confusing and with thinking about that, and all the pain that she has to face always kept her up at night. Made her cry out tears, or have it all store inside of her for fear of letting everyone get to her, telling her how sorry they are. She wasn't sorry for herself, or at least she didn't think she was.

While driving up to the McDonalds parking lot, the car was stopped and her mother began to step out. Lee jumped up and down in her seat belt, waiting for her mother to come around and open the door for her. Vesteva didn't even notice until she heard the seat bounce forward, slamming against the glove compartment.

" Are you going to come in with us?" her mother asked, holding onto Lee's hand.

Disturb and dumbfounded, Ves shook her head from side to side, agreeing not to step out of the car. The door was then slammed and she was left alone with knee room to spare.

Glancing out the window she saw the two of them disappear. Her mother in her black suit that always laid on her body, with Lee in overalls though a sweater over it. She skipped as she walked, keeping up with her mother's pace. Her curls bounced and the wind blew them, sweeping them off her shoulders.

To the right of her view she saw two guys in Letterman's jackets, one being Eric her love interest, trudging down the street with a blonde cheerleader in between them. Her name was Audra Thomas, head cheerleader of the Varsity squad. She always dated the most popular guys, and was always up with the latest trends. Vesteva saw her in the halls once in awhile, wondering what it would be like to be in her shoes, to actually have people like you. Thinking to herself that they must have been on their way to the school for football practice and cheer leading, her eyes followed even more when smiles stretched on their faces. Not knowing whether to be happy or angry, she showed no expression while they disappeared around the corner.

The window was large where you can spy inside of McDonalds, watching people eat. Turing around so that her knees sat upon the warm seat, glaring through the back window she spotted Little Lee Lee and her mother taking a seat in a booth near the window. Giving out a growl beneath her breath that they decided to eat in there while she sat in the car, she turned around and hopped out. Leaving the door unlocked, she closed it lightly and began to jog down to the side road where the three vanished to.

Hearing the rumble of Justin's nose, JC quickly spotted him on the couch rolled onto his side with the television still on. He heard another channel coming from the upstairs, ciphering that Lance was up in his room. Gliding his hand over to the railing he dragged himself up the stairs. Passing Lance's room, he peered his head in and tapped his hand against the entrance. Stirring up from his body stretched across the bed, rising his head from his arms, he gave a slight grin.

" What are you up to?" Lance moaned, rolling over on the side of his body while holding up his head.

" You know, the usual," JC replied, leaving and resuming to go off to his room.

Opening the door, he realized that earlier his anger took over and his phone was destroyed into thousands of pieces against the wall on the floor. Turning himself back around in a counterclockwise position, he traced back to Lance's room where he asked to use his cell. Being chivalrous, he didn't mind getting the phone on the counter of his desk far away. The white walls looked as if they were black from the shades closing off the world. JC didn't move from his spot in the hall and jogged back into his room.

Landing himself on the side of his bed closest to the door, he opened the phone right away. Thinking of his ex- girlfriend up in Maryland, he punched in the memorized numbers and breathed in a sigh of distress.

" Feylan? Hi..., it's Josh..."

Her feet gliding across the side walk, Vesteva arrived a block away from the Varsity football field where green and white jerseys roamed the area. Glancing from the angle she could see some of the football plays that will be shown to the school this Friday night, Ves watched in awe. Wearing a red three quarter sleeved shirt, she wrapped her arms around herself, holding onto her waist. Her dark wavy hair stayed close to her body with her head draped downward, watching each small step she took.

Stopping by the gate once again, the cheer leaders were wearing their small uniforms, clapping their hands as they built pyramids. A half smile formed on her face, seeing old friends from freshman year still on the squad, even though they don't pay any attention to her anymore she still wondered how they were doing.

Squinting her eyes, she searched through the dozen of jerseys, looking for Rudarski, the name of her crush. He played defense, throwing his arms in the air to block the ball. She wanted to start clapping her hands and yelling his name. Instead she stood there quiet with a smile on her face, wanting to cry. Not realizing what the time was, she continued to stare as she daydreamed.

Then, after glancing at her watch, she noticed that fifteen minutes had passed by. Saying a silent bye, her hands slipped from the metal holes and began to jog down the block back to the car. She saw her mother sitting in the car with her sister in front and the engine on, waiting for her. She opened the passengers side and made her sisters seat move forward, closing her in an envelope as she entered silently. The seat fell back against her, knocking her knees once again.

" If you wanted to know where I was, I-," Vesteva began to her mother but she was abruptly disturb.

" It's okay, we can talk about it later." she replied as they turned the corner.

Lee went back to her head against the window with her hair blowing in the wind. Vesteva sat there with dreams in her mind without a worry in sight for those 15 minutes.

" ....I just wanted to know how you are doing...." JC's voice flowed in a whisper on the telephone, not understanding what he was doing at that second. His heart was telling him not to but his mind was telling him it was right.

" Josh? I haven't heard your voice in awhile! I'm doing fine. Actually, I'm in a good relationship right now. Remember Travis?" Feylan's voice rang with a bit of surprise though excited.

Remembering not so long ago when Travis and him use to be best friends, they took a road trip together to New York, staying there for a week. Feylan and him weren't dating at that time but the three of them were inseparable. They invited her to come along on the trip but she had summer school classes already lined up for college that she wanted to get a head start on. Now that Feylan and him weren't together, she immediately jumped onto the next guy in line with their friendship. As if she was just using them, not caring about the friendship in the first place, like it never existed.

Stumbling over what he was going to say next, he had nothing in return to say. Feeling the loneliness in his heart, he knew why he was calling her but it wasn't for the right reason. Still picturing her face in his dreams, they were now being replaced by Vesteva's, even though there was no bond between them yet.

Feylan called his name in the phone where there was no response back. His visions and head was brought back when her voice echoed through his ear, a voice that just didn't sound right to him.

At that second, he heard the pound of the door being slammed shut downstairs, taking that Chris and Joey were home. Bringing up a lie, he answered back to Feylan. " Yeah, I got a photo shoot now, talk to you later!" He pressed off quickly, not waiting for a good bye from her. Clamping the phone together, he held it in his left hand while falling back against his queen bed. His feet whistled against the floor as he swung them back and forth against the wood. Banging his hand against the bed, he heard the springs bounce down in a repetitive manner.

A stereo sat next to JC on the dresser, reaching over with his empty hand and trying to slap the button to tuner but the sound of Justin's Lauren Hill c.d. filled the room at a volume where the houses down the block could hear. Making it erase what he was thinking at the moment, he tried to close his eyes to ease the moment though the music blasted in both ears. Nothing else came to his mind other than to speak to Abby about Vesteva. Never having to go through all this trouble for a girl, when he looks back on what he has done, it doesn't even sound realistic. A person with his fame, you would think he wouldn't be chasing after one girl because he has all of these girls following him. Though this was his own game of hide and seek, and this time he was the seeker and everywhere he looks, he finds more discomfort. Laughing at his foolishness, he's been so far in the game, why not go all the way.

Turning the music down but not off, he swung off his bed and headed down the hallway. Peering into Lance's room, he finds him fallen asleep on his bed. Without disturbing him, he walked himself in and placed his phone back on the night stand and walked out.

JC shuffled down the stairs to Chris in the kitchen and Justin and Joey sitting on the couch.

" I'm heading out, I'll be back soon," he mentioned while flying into the kitchen. He went into a cupboard where that bag of M&M's sat and grabbed the whole thing. Turning around, he faced Chris who had his back laid against the refrigerator.

" Where are you off to AGAIN?" he asked in his high pitched voice.

JC peered over into Justin's direction, minding what he was doing so he would know if he could mention the word Abby or not. " I'll tell ya back when I get home." Joey came over to visit the conversation, bringing a glass of water with him. " Hey Joe, looks like you've been losing a few pounds." JC remarked while scooping a dozen M&M's from the bag and then right back into his mouth.

" Thanks for noticing," Joey waved his hand in front of his face, using a feminine voice to answer JC's comment. He skipped across the floor, pretending as if he was holding out a dress. The guys laughed at the stupid actions that were being made. " Oh! By the way we saw a Vesteva today at the hospital. Any reason to why she was there?"

JC put the bag on the counter and with a full mouth of chocolate nearly dripping out of his mouth, he recited, " Volunteers". With a swipe of his hand across his lips, he said he was leaving now, heading for Abby's.
