`_`CHAPTER NINETEEN`_`

Opening her eyes to the sun shining right through her window, Vesteva stretched her arms out across her many pillows while letting out a large yawn. Gathering her blanket back together tightly between her fingers, she pulled it up closely to her face, wrapping it tight for warmth. Tossing her body over, her dark brown eyes stared deeply into the alarm clock that once again blinked the red number of twelve o'clock. Ves's head felt like it had been stepped on, trying to forget about what happened last night. Forcing her head deeper into her pillow she covered her bright, red, flushed face.

Under the covers, she looked down to what she was wearing and it was the some outfit as what she wore yesterday. Growling beneath her breath, her face then began to burn up from no cold air circulating through the blanket and revealed her face once again. Wishing that her controller to her stereo was near her, Vesteva couldn't handle the silence that filled the room. The strength in her was wasted from last night, moving her legs she felt the sore pain from running so much. Lazily, she called loudly for her sister Leehola to come and help her.

" Vesteva! I don't want you tyrannizing your little sister like that!" she heard her mother shout from downstairs.

Mimicking her mother, she scrunched her face up and repeated in a light whisper what her mother just protested. Hearing little patters of Lee's feet coming from up the stairs, the door opened slightly as she stuck her head through. Vesteva gave a smile, gesturing that she could enter. Flying from behind the door, her sister leaped into the room and went straight to the bed, jumping on top of Vesteva's legs. Her bright smile completed the rooms atmosphere as Vesteva squirmed her legs about, moving herself up against the backboard of the bed.

With another yawn, Vesteva tried to talk, " What time is it?". Taking a small violet pillow from beside her, she placed it onto her lap waiting for an answer.

Her sister sat there with a tilted head, thinking about what time it could be since she didn't know how to tell the time yet. Putting a finger up to her lips, mumbling Lee responded, " Um... I think it's lunch time because mommy made me, made me a cheese shandmich." She stated with a glow on her face, " I was finished and the phone rang and I got it. I asked who, who it was, and the man said his name was JC I tink. He asked-t for you buh I told him you were'd sleeping." Proudly she sat there, happy that she had remembered and answered so much.

Beaming at her at first, Vesteva's face suddenly became for of a scowl as the name "JC" had come into the discussion. Reaching across and grabbing Leehola's hands, she looked her straight in the eyes, " And then what did the man say after that?".

" Um, I tink he'd said that he'd call later but I don't rebember." Taking both of their attention away, they heard the ring of the phone downstairs and within the second, it came to a stop. Once her mother called up to Vesteva, she had a clue on her mind that she knew who it was. Not mattering who it was, she was angered at everyone who actually got along with her. Bringing Lee closer to her, she whispered into her ear with the light touch of her disheveled hair tickling Lee's earlobes. Laughing, she nodded in agreement. " Ves is sleeping!" Lee yelled at the top of her lungs.

When her mother shouted up that it was untrue, Lee didn't want to lie anymore. Scrunching her nose up, Vesteva took the small pillow and lightly tapped it on top of Lee's head, making her face go into a fit of giggles. Lifting the covers just partially because Lee was on the other end, she tried sliding her legs through showing her faded out pair of jeans. Walking unsteadily over to the door, Lee followed closely behind on her heals.

" Who is it?" Vesteva asked her mother as soon as she came down. Giving her the cold shoulder, she didn't respond and kept right at her paper work on the coffee table. Picking up the phone, her unawake voice rang through with a little hello.

" Wow, I'm surprised you answered," the males low tone said unaware.

Giving out a sigh and a roll of her eyes, Vesteva knew perfectly who is was, " JC, I'll have you arrested for stalking or something. That won't do anything good for your career and you might actually lose some money. So how much would that take you down to? Hm, ten million a year?"

" Why the hell do you keep bringing that up? My career has nothing to do with this. I just wanted to call and clear things up, we are leaving tomorrow." JC stated into the phone, getting a little offensive.

" And do you want a going away party or something? No, wait, I don't even know what I'm doing talking to you in the first place."

" Can I just ask you to meet me at airport tomorrow at noon? We are flying American Airlines and it's at gate C nine-," Without being able to finish his sentence, Vesteva had hung up the phone.

Pacing back and forth in her living room, Abby had been up since six in the morning, not being able to sleep after the problems that she had committed last night. In one night alone she had ruined two friendships and lost a guy that might have been the one for her, who helped give her the push to turn her life around. Though the worse she was worried about was Vesteva. Their friendship had started when they were little kids and now all the secrets, all the memories, everything that has happened involving the two of them could become nothing but lost. Erasing from each of their minds unless something was done about it.

Walking around her empty living room, she paced over to the couch, staring at it. Everything was all based on her to make things better, though it was all too much. If Vesteva wasn't involved in it, she would call her up that very second and ask her what to do. In her mind, Abby already knew that she was say. " Call and work it out.". It was so much harder than what it sounded and this time she couldn't call her best friend, or even have a shoulder to cry on. Abby had other friends, ones that would give her a call to say what's up, but they were there all the time, they barely knew her.

Bending down, she gripped a pillow between her hands and squeezed it until her knuckles began to turn red. Grinding her teeth together, she gave out a scream to the empty silence, making it echo in the halls while just a growl came out. Throwing herself down, Abby hit the couch cushions in anger of what she had done. It was only noon, with a waken body, the day was wearing off very slowly.

Falling back down on the couch, breathing heavily, Abby's dirty hair spread all over the soft cotton. Getting up, she walked over into the kitchen where she had her list of things to do, including phone numbers that she had searched up. Number one on her list was to call her parents back and explain to them what has been happening. Their relationship has been close when they were younger until Abby's life began to fall apart from her wrong choices. Picking the phone up, her hands shook tensely with fright. Dialing the number, her heart began to pick up pace until it was picked up on the other end.

Her mother's voice chimed through with a hello, knowing it was their daughter on the other end. Beginning the conversation with stuttering, there was only an exchange in hello's until dead silence started.

"Mom, this is just silly. I called because I want to apologize to you, and to dad. When high school ended, I screwed up my life, and I'm sorry for that. I wanted to escape from home but at the same time I was crawling back. I WILL pay you back all the money," Abby began to emit until her mother finally spoke up.

" Oh honey, it's okay. I'm happy that you admitted that you were wrong but we were wrong too. We should have been there for you, but you needed to learn responsibility. I hope you know that your father and I both love you very much."

Finally a positive thing had come into the day, and it was great enough to make Abby smile. Their conversation traveled for a minimum length of time because her mother had to leave for work. As they said good-bye, Abby ended it with a mention of I love you, something she hasn't said to her parents in a long time. Hanging up the phone, she gulped in a large breath before having to make her next call. Second thing to do on her list, call Harvard and see if her scholarship was still there. This was going to be more difficult than anything though she had to face it, whether the outcome come out good, or bad.

Approaching the telephone once again, this phone call could change her future and actually give her something to look forward to.

" Hello, this is Abigail Imeron...."

Slamming the phone down after Vesteva had hung up with him, JC stamped his feet against the floor mumbling beneath his breath. Lance and Justin stayed in the room watching some television as they watched JC begin to pace within the large amount of space in the living room. His face drew angered as his thin body tensed up. Walking over to the couch, he slammed his body down and covered his face with his hands, leaning his head against the back. With his face heating up, JC easily slid his hands down his face, revealing closed eyes.

" You know, if that Abby wasn't such a bitch my life would be perfect right now," JC wrathfully announced to the room. Sitting next to him was Justin, giving a jerk of his head in JC's direction not knowing if he agreed with what JC said or not.

" JC, man, just forget her anyway. I mean, she was nice and everything but you know that tomorrow you'd just be leaving her anyway. Think of this as a better way out," Chris announced, his shoulders shrugging from across the room.

" Dude, you don't know shit about what happened, how could you say anything? You and Danielle have been together for what, almost three years now? So shut the fuck up," JC snapped back.

" What the hell? I'm just trying to help, you don't have to be a prick about it. What is so special about Vesteva anyway?"

" Chris, I don't know. You know, I don't even know if I'm just trying to cover up from Feylan or if this is really attraction or what. But if it wasn't, then why would I have been trying these past two weeks to actually talk to her? Now it's all going to waste. I seriously think she's different, she was special," JC began to ramble on, lowering his voice with each word.

JC tapped his fingers against the couch cushions, the room staying in silence until Chris got up from his seat and began to walk out the room. Not needing an excuse to leave, he went straight up stairs to where he shared his room with Joey.

JC laid there spread, sinking in his seat within every second being sprawled out. Putting his hand up to his chin with a little stubble on it from not shaving, Justin stroked it slowly looking at the television. Either it being to himself, or to JC, he whispered out loud, " She's not a bitch," having a late reaction. Repositioning his head, JC rolled it over along the back of the couch to look at Justin. He sat there with his eyes beaming in serious thought, and JC knew that his concentration wasn't based on the television.

Opening his mouth, you could hear the sound of JC getting ready to say something, but he shook his head doubtingly and decided not to speak. Finally turning his head, Justin looked at JC with all seriousness, " So don't call her one," he finished.

" Yeah, well, last night she was," JC sighed.

" Okay, so she screwed up, people make mistakes. Take us for example, if we miss a note, or just act like people our age do, we get fucked over and people make something big out of it. You want people to forgive you, or just move on, right? Or like how Vesteva and Abby have given us chances but we keep screwing up."

" Yeah, man. Whatever happened with you and Abby?"

Letting out a large sigh and shifting to the right to lean on the arm rest, Justin put his hand up to his forehead not wanting to explain anything. " I'll just tell you, whatever I said I would still say it again. I care 'bout her, and I just want her life pointing in the right direction, with or without me. Though I would rather like to be in that picture," he gave out a little laugh.

Pushing back against the couch, JC got up a little ways straightening his shirt in the back and then bouncing back on the couch. Scratching the back of his head, JC tried to picture tomorrow as the five of them disappeared from Chicago. Not knowing if he would be able to forget what had happened here, or keeping it as a memorable of something that will change his life.

" It still stands?" Abby's voice grew louder, feeling as if she was being accepted once again. Her face glowed throughout the house, making it shine like Christmas Eve night. Excitedly, she hung the phone up and began bouncing up and down with her arms flailing about. Her blonde hair bobbed with her knees held together, making the floor shake beneath her. Continuously, she hopped herself into the living room to where the television was and saw the Forces of Nature box lying on the floor, along with Vesteva's VCR. Her jumping cooled down as she thought about what one of the most important things to her was, and that was Vesteva and hers friendship.

Knowing that this couldn't be handled over the phone, she grabbed her Jean jacket nestled on the bottom of the closet near by. Opening the door, she stepped out of her house as if she was about to relive her life.

The rented black Jeep was resting in Audra's drive way with Lance arriving at the door. With a rose in one hand, he walked up the couple steps and rang the doorbell anxiously awaiting what you could call his first visit, though to be his last. The door swung open and there stood Audra in a white tank top with a multicolored skirt ranging from some of the brightest colors that reached down to her knees. With make up that barely showed, she was already a natural beauty. Smiling with her teeth showing so bright, she made a way for Lance to come in.

With his amazing camouflage green eyes opened wide, he reached out and gave the rose to Audra. Her look of surprise filled the room as she took it with open arms, reaching around his firm body, giving a tight hug. It's been such a long time since Lance had felt his belonging, that he was actually desired and had attention. Never had he placed his arms around a girl and felt like he never wanted to let go.

Backing away slowly, Audra took him by one hand and lead him over to the couch in the front room. having one leg settled on the couch while the other hung off, he sat right beside her. Brushing a curl away from her eyes, her cold hand eased up and stroked his gently, bringing it down into his lap.

" This is so unfair," Lance's deep voice called through the room.

" What?" Audra whispered with a tense of misunderstanding.

" I've been here two whole weeks, and I just finally found you, now I have to leave."

Her cheeks became a pale rose as she gracefully leaned in forward and swiped her pink lips clear across his.

Approaching Vesteva's house, Abby gave a sigh seeing her breath in the cool air and walked up to the door. Usually she would just walk in, or she had a key that she would use if it was locked, but it was different now. Not knowing how Vesteva would react if she just bounded in, she knocked twice on the door and waited patiently for someone to answer.

Hearing a few mumbles behind the door, Abby began to become solicitous, tapping her foot continuously against the wood porch. When the door swung open, Vesteva slid her body through and then closed the door behind her. Ves's head draped low, not wanting to face her best friend.

" Can you please leave? I don't feel like talking to you right now," Vesteva mumbled beneath her breath, leaving her hand on the door knob.

" No, I want to solve this right here, right now. I'm not wasting nearly seventeen years of friendship on some stupid thing that happened," Abby remarked, leaning on one of her legs and then switching to the other one.

Tugging onto the ends of her sleeves, Vesteva looked up at her evilly, " Oh my God Abby! Some stupid thing? I was so happy Abby, I actually felt that someone other than you and my family cared about me, I had importance. I thought you would have known that...," she trailed off, not wanting to think about the moment. " So can you just please leave? I really want to be by myself for awhile."

Abby began to back herself down the stairs without a word from her mouth. She didn't even get out what she came there to say, I'm sorry.

Upstairs, Chris and Joey began their packing for their afternoon flight the next day. Taking clothes from the drawers, they did it in muteness. Joey still hasn't been him old self, and Chris kept making sure that he ate with him. Even though it's been less than twenty four hours since Joey's incident, their friendship has really been tightened, away from the other guys. No one else knows what happened, and Chris promised him that he wouldn't let it slip, it would be to embarrassing and it's to personal. Joey just couldn't wait to get back on the rode so that everything would turn back to normal, this vacation just hasn't been the best for him, and he was sure it went that way with the rest of the guys.

׺׺׺׺׺׺×

Arriving at the airport the next day, body guards surrounded them bringing attention from all four corners of the airport. People encircled them, wondering who it was with luggage's swinging and hitting people. The five guys wore hats to conceal their hair, with regular clothes and some with sunglasses. They figured that no matter what, they were going to be discovered some way or another, why bother trying.

From the hospital, they carried a couple shopping bags full of gifts that they received, either from children or from the hospital for being so benignant for coming. People also spotted them along the rode, or because of the Homecoming dance, it was posted in the newspaper that they have been staying in Elm Heights. They held all their luggage because to ship it would take to long, and they wouldn't know if people were to search through them. All the people that helped assist them took up the first class seats, leaving them all the room to hold their stuff in.

It was nearly a half an hour until they were going to start boarding people, an hour until the flight was going to take off. They were lead into a back room that was for employee's only, though they thought they could stay back there so that they could load last. Smelling the fumes from the planes, JC gathered in the information that this was the last thirty minutes of a vacation that they won't be able to have within months. A table sat in the center of the room with the Chicago Tribune spread all over. Windows were covering about half of the walls, as the guys watched one of the new 777's pulling out of it's gate.

JC knew that Vesteva wasn't going to be able to find him in here, but he knew if he went out there was a slight chance that he could be mobbed.

" Hey Lonnie, is it okay if I step outside, alone, for the time being?" JC asked. He didn't know why he was asking him, he was his own person and Lonnie had no control over what he does. Nodding in response, JC fixed the collar on his brown leather jacket, straightened his stupid purple hat that looked like the one he wore on Loveline, and slipped on a pair of sunglasses. Snatching the Tribune off of the table, JC headed outside.

While her parents and sister went to church that Sunday morning, Vesteva faked being ill and stayed in bed. Leaving a note on the front door that only said " I had to see about a guy - Vesteva", she took the car without permission and drove herself over to the airport.

Within the crowded mess that were around every corner, Vesteva knew the airport perfect because her father use to work there. They would take family vacations occasionally throughout the year to places that no one would dream of going. Once Leehola was born though, traveling didn't become a known thing in the house and her father got a new job.

While jogging past people with luggage's, hitting those who didn't step out of her way, Vesteva began to slow down. Thinking to herself, she thought maybe she should have apologized to Abby, and asked her to come with her. Though she wasn't the one who did something wrong, it was Abby's fault. It was too late now to turn around, so Vesteva took a step and then gained speed. It was less than a half an hour until twelve o'clock and she hoped that she didn't miss the flight. Vesteva just wanted one last look, one last memory of something that made an impact on her life.

When the C gates appeared in Vesteva's view, she glances down at her watch to see that only five minutes have flown by. The odds were on the left, and the evens were on the right. When she spotted gate 9, she started to walk slowly, pacing herself in fright that she would be detected. There were a few poles in the way before approaching the gate, as Vesteva took a spot behind one of them.

Not that many people sat in the area, and around five or less people were standing in line waiting for the person to accept their ticket. Not recognizing him through the people, she knew that he was already boarded. Her shoulders fell forward as her long wavy hair framed her face. She leaned against the pole as she double checked the many faces, seeing a little girl and her mother sitting there, the girl looking as if she's nearing tears. Her glance was set on one guy though who was reading a newspaper, covering his face.

Squinting her eyes, Vesteva watched the man from the distance very closely, looking when he flipped the page in the paper. Knowing that look, that body posture, she knew that it was JC. Wanting to go over there and give him a large hug, she still felt angered at what he had done, getting no apology from neither JC or Abby.

Inhaling every second, she leaned against the pole watching him as he just sat there. There couldn't have been a more better moment, until she heard the loud cry of his name, " JC!". A girl from across the room shouted at the top of her lungs. Knowing the name well since it's not used that much in the media, most people reacted running over to him.

When she spotted the other guys from in front of he coming from a room across the hall, she knew that it was time to split. Backing away slowly, she took her last glimpse of JC and knew it was going to be the last time she was going to see him. " Farewell," she muttered with a slight wave of her hand. Turning around, she jogged herself all the way to the exit, leaving partially unfulfilled.
