Abuse Of Mentally ill

I was "treated" in a Fuler hospital for depression. I was subjected to emotional and verbal abuse as well as other patients. I was treated disrespectfuly by the staff members. There was a constant atmosfere of danger and fear. I did not have the right to speak with other people nor did they. I had no right to talk privitly. I also had no right to write down my experience without the staff looking at it. The punishments of patients included room confidment without food or being dragged to the quiet room and strapped down to the bed and getting a Haldol shot. There were no phychiotrists present, no aproval of for use of Haldol needed. This treatment was a punishment if somebody broke the rules. A lot of mental health workers did not have a degree. The staff's identification card only showed their first name. When I asked their full name they refused to give it. Patients were threatend in a on going bases with punishments and Holdol shots if they brake the rules. Some of the rules were listed on the wall, Others were created by the staff to punish people. The human rights oficcer was not available. I was cut off from the outside world, I couldn't talk to my psychologist or psychiatrist, nor to my friends or family. The only way I could exscape from this hospital was exercising my right to sign a three day notice. They had to let me go otherwise bring me to court. I share my experience because this can happen to you your family members or friends. If you have a experience you would like to share with me I will gladly post it on this web site. We have to stop the abuse of mentally ill patients witch going on behind closed doors and people do not know or imagine that it is possible to happen.
