About Us!

We are looking for material we would want to read, not once, but over and over and over again.

We don’t mind Vampire stories, Werewolves, Fairies, Goblins, Ghosts, Ghouls, Zombies, Shapeshifters, and any of the other so called “traditional” character types, but we don’t want the same old stories about the bloodthirsty beast ravaging some woman in an alley or being hunted down in the streets. Characters and plots should be original.

What were are most interested in is worlds where these types of creatures and any others you can think up live/exist to do more than be scary freaks feared by humanity.

We enjoy fiction based on Mythology, old folk tales, and real legends (not urban legends) and poems that tell a story.

We are NOT a Science Fiction Magazine and we will NOT be printing any science fiction. Thank you in advance.

We are of the school that characters who are inherently evil and whose only purpose is to destroy are no fun to read. Evil for the sake of being evil is easy to write, we want people to reach down into themselves and give even their most diabolical creatures a little soul.

We want stories that dare to be different because those differences will help Seasons in the Night stand out from other magazines of its type. We want grit and edge, but it’s ok to have a little humor and a little tenderness in there as well. We love characters that can laugh at themselves, who fail, who just can’t get a break as much as we like characters who can manipulate an entire Fairy Court.

We like our elves a little dark, vampires who don’t believe they are gods or rock stars, shapeshifters with a bit more than just fur and fangs and our zombies to do more than just rise from the grave looking for brains to feed off of.

So be creative, push the boundaries and then break on through them to create your own, be a pioneer rather than a follower and you will find your place and your season in the night.
