After paying the UPS fellow (poor guy needs a new delivery van) $106.36 in brokerage fee’s, I excitedly opened the roughly 16 x 8 x 10 box with my nose plugged assuming it would smell like tar. Luckily, as I tore the box open with a utility knife, I realize; “Hey, this doesn’t smell so bad”. Amazingly it has the least “stench”, when compared to Dynamat and Brown Bead. I unroll the single roll in the box to find that there is in fact 4 sheets 12” wide and who knows how long (yeah, I don’t want to calculate it out to 40 feet). Also included in the box were the application instructions and the UPS invoice.

The next day, I stripped Project “Boom for the Buck” which happens to be a 91 S-10 Blazer (4 door). If you have ever worked on one of these, you know it takes a while (dam screws everywhere). Doors, most of roof, tailgate, trunk area (including the sides) were all done. I had 2 10” Alpine Vr’s in there and the tailgate and the whole trunk area rattled like hell – and that was only with the 2 10’s and 300watts RMS total! All four doors rattled ridiculously prior to installation.

3 days after receiving the material I decided to call a good friend over to help me install it – which leads me to my first rating. Ease of application. Overall, it was very easy to install….just like Dynamat (etc.). You peel the white backing off and lay it down. I did use a little bit of heat (hairdryer) just to make sure it stuck on there good (it was fairly cool on the day we did it). Other items used with the application were a small 3” roller and 2 cans of beer. The product went on smooth and we didn’t have any problems what so ever. Ease of use: 5/5 – No complaints at all.

I have just finished testing this stuff with various power and different subs.

For speakers, I ran a set of MTX Thunder 8000 6.5” Components in the front doors. Before sound deadening, it rattled out of control – now it is very quiet and there is no audible rattling. In the rear doors were just some Alpine 6.5” 2 ways that shook the doors. Yeah, you guessed it – they don’t rattle anymore.

First on the list were my wives 2 12” RF Power HX2’s sharing a 5 cu.ft. box tuned to 25hz – powered by 2 1000bd’s. No rattles what so ever.

Next up were 2 10” Boston Acoustics Pro’s…with a single Crossfire 1000d running both (small, sealed box). No rattling, although one of the plastic panels in the trunk did rattle for a minute – I took it off and yelled out in amazement: “ By George, I didn’t sound deaden this bastage!”.

Alright, the true test. There just happened to be a kid at the high school who has the exact same truck. His was sound deadened with 40 sq. ft. of Dynamat Extreme. He is currently running 2 12” Type R’s with a single JBL 1200.1. So, I thought, man, this would be the best comparison. The same vehicles, the same stereo, different sound deadening material. So one day after school we unhooked his 1200.1 and the Type R’s and threw (no, not literally) them in the back of my truck and cranked them. So no rattles at any volume – I was impressed, no rattles (I had a funny feeling it might). We disconnected everything and put it back in his truck and he cranked it. No rattles at first, until I got out of the vehicle and walked around to the tailgate. Oh man, were those body panels rattling like hell. I know his Dynamat was installed properly because we did it together.

Well, I think I’ve hit the end on this review…the overall rating I give this product is a 5/5. It performs very well and I have yet to experience anything bad about it.
