Thoroughly read these instructions before proceeding.

Step 1: Clean the Mounting Surface

This is the most important part of installing your Second Skin Sound Damplifier. If you do not properly prepare the mounting surface, you will not get the most benefits from this product. In a well-ventilated area, thoroughly clean the mounting surface with a residue-free solvent. We recommend paint thinner. This will remove all dirt, grease, oil, wax, moisture and rust to help create a permanent bond between the Second Skin and the mounting surface. Repeat this step several times for older cars, using a different rag each time. Allow 10 minutes to dry.

NOTE: It is very important to clean the aluminum side of the Second Skin if you will be using more than one layer. Repeat step one on the aluminum side of Second Skin before adding another layer. If you do not, you will run into problems down the road.

Step 2: Shape, Size and Cut

Using a razor knife cut the Second Skin sheet to the appropriate shape and size. Remove the white paper liner from the back of the Second Skin and apply the adhesive side to the prepared surface. On large surfaces, remove the release liner in sections, working your way down and across the panel. Be sure not to lay material over an entire section all at once. Doing this will prevent the material from entering all the hard to reach areas. Remember, the more contact this material has with the surface are, the better it will stick, and the better it will work!

Step 3: Apply the Material

Using a heat gun or hair dryer heat the material and the mounting surface. Apply the Second Skin to the mounting surface with a roller one small area at a time. Use the roller to work the Second Skin into all contours of the surface area. Using a razor knife, cut holes and lines in any air pockets that may have formed between the panel and the Second Skin Sound Damplifier. Work the air out with the roller. You may also find that the blunt end of a screwdriver will help you reach the difficult areas. Adding 2 layers of Second Skin will yield 3 times the benefit. If you plan on adding another layer, repeat step 1 on the aluminum side of the material.
